  1. Yes, it was sold by Tiffany's during the 70's and 80's with their name on the dial as well.
  2. Hey friend! How have you been? I went over 2 weeks without electricity so it was not fun at all!!! I was kinda thinking down the same lines as what you said above. I have someone that wants to trade me for a 3135 and I thought that might just be the trick to doing a "perfect sub"! I hope to see you at the next gtg!
  3. What do you guys think... http://cgi.ebay.com/ca-3035-3135-Submarine...id=p3286.c0.m14
  4. How could Rolex do such a thing???
  5. I think a source for the cyclops and sending them to chief might be a good idea. Anyone know a source for the cyclops purchased individually?
  6. They are going to hell in a handbag...a fake one at that! lol
  7. Looks great on the wrist! The EXP1 is a classic style!
  8. What a shame! What a quality forum it was!
  9. Yes, what kind of flaws does this one have? It looks great! What dealer and ballpark price? I really like this one!
  10. Here it is... http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-ROLEX-SUBMARIN...1QQcmdZViewItem
  11. Good to see you over here too DR! Hope to also see you at the GTG this next Saturday!
  12. Anybody seen this or used them before? http://www.firstwatchleasing.com/
  13. You can find the Rolex oyster case specs on the internet with all the sizes and specs. I believe it is their patent sheets that show all the measurements. The difficult part would be the threading of the case for the caseback. All the other parts of the case the cnc machine could cut fine. It is amazing what can be cut from a bare bar of steel!
  14. The Rolex hidden jubilee band actually was sold in AD sometime in 2006. It might have been presented to the public before that, but it actually reached the ADs in the US in 2006. The rehaunt engraving started in late 2006 and early 2007 for US dealers. You can get a spare clasp from Silix and he can also get you a new crystal. The new style band is more desirable for most people, but it is actually only 12mm vs. the previous jubilee with the visable clasp at 13mm. For the accuracy, the dial has nice printing, but the hour markers are too large and not close enough to the edge of the dial. Also the engraved crown at 12 o'clock is not centered per the printed roman 12 printing. Also the engraved "Rolex" directly next to the engraved crown at 12(to the right) has a spacing issue between the e and x. These are common problems on the ladies DJ. If it has the ETA movement, it is a great watch with the 2671. The china movement is not bad in the ladies DJ either, but they usually run about 2 min a day fast. My lady is crazy about the Rolex DJ, so I have bought many over the years. (maybe 25+!) I hope this info helps. This all comes from experience and not from reference books!
  15. I was talking with one of my friends the other day about a clone of the Gen Rolex movement. He said that one of his relatives in China works as a watchsmith in China. His relative had mentioned about 6 months ago that one replica "factory" was working on a clone of the 3135 Rolex movement. He said that movements had been constructed, but they were having problems regulating the time and were not ready for production. Has anyone heard of this activity? I don't doubt it with the ETA movements being phased out. I am surprised it has taken this long to do this.
  16. Let me know when you get the 2824 from 3035 in. I would be interested! Indyberetta I also bought one of Stilty's first batch. A great tool for a conversion!
  17. It sure would be nice to have a date wheel that is a copy of the rolex date wheel on something like vinyl that could just be stuck on the existing date wheel to help with the spacing between the date wheel and the dial. How is the existing eta date wheel look when used on a gen Rolex dial? Does drilling out the crown tube help the stem alignment issue so it at least does not rub on the inner side of the crown tube? Stilty, I might need some of the new spacers as well that you are working on. I have several good 2836 and 2824 movements and of course a short supply (1) of the 2892 movements. Carlsbad, that is a great kit you have for sale! If I did not have as many bands and movements at this time I would probably jump on it! I also have some Gen Tudor movements that I might use in one of the Frakenjust if I can get it to work. One I will have to save for a future Tudor Snowflake Fraken...maybe sooner than later!!!
  18. I am wanting to build a frakenjust and was wondering a few things... 1 What movements fit in what cases? i.e. 16233, 16013, 1600, etc. 2824, 2836, 2892 I believe the 15000 series cases are 19mm end links? 2. I want it to have the 20mm band ends. 3. How is the movement attached in the case? I have done some research and found that the stem alignment is a problem for some of these. I want to use a gen dial in the case so I know the feet must be cut and use of dial dots is necessary. What date wheels would someone also use? I am not an experienced watch repair person, but want to build one as a hobby thing. Thanks in advance for your help!
  19. I bought one a few years back that was an all gold Polex wrapped case and band with the famous "[censored]" on the case back. I still have it, but it is in pieces now...what should I do with it??????
  20. Dave, it looks like junk so just send it to me and I will part it out!!!! Really, it looks good and I love the rivited band. It gives it more of an authentic look of a vintage watch! Enjoy it!
  21. I had to just replacement mine. The old style was easy to adjust. This new type seem to have problems. They are either to hard to open or just open on their own.
  22. It was a great event! Thanks to all that attended. Thanks again Bill for being the lead on the event! Many more Houston events to come in the near future...
