  1. Yes, big "D" can be a [censored] like Houston for traffic. I am actually in The Woodlands...20 miles north of Houston.
  2. Awesome on being able to machine spacers! I wish I could! Hands are easy...they even sell the 2671 ladies on the bay for $10 or so. Sorry you missed out on the movements. The seller has listed several auctions for the last years or so. He has many...I know he says these are his last...but he says that every auction! He even listed a few for single movements so keep on the lookout.
  3. Correct, the purchase of a vintage date just with the 1570 is the best way to go. You then recoup some of your money selling the rest of the watch. You might want to go ahead and put the eta in the case and sell it as a franken as you will net more money out of it. I would think that a franken with the ETA in it would go for $500-$600 depending on the combo. I have seen the package deal, case, dial, band, etc go for as little as $250.
  4. No, the WM9 does not take the 2671. The date movement is much smaller, so the date wheel is not even close to the date wheel position on the sub. It uses the 2678-2 which is not even close in size. JMB, make sure you have the proper spacer ring and dial for adding the 2671 to your spouses watch. They are different...By the time you buy the dial, spacer, and movement you would be better off just buying one (ETA 2671 rep)from one of the dealers for about $200. You could then just switch out the ETA for the tudor model and then sell the movement that came in the watch. Just a thought, but building a ladies date just from the asian movement to the ETA is not as easy as it sounds...yes I have done it several times and found out the hard way.
  5. I have seen the 2671 Tudor NOS go for as little as $40 shipped. There seems to be lots on Ebay lately... These are for the ladies Tudor models. In fact the current ones still use this movement. I have some NOS Tissot 2671 ETA movements as well.
  6. Agree...if he was honest and would say that it is not original, that might be a different story...but over $8k and no reserve met...damn. Probably a $2500 watch at most...for the franken love. There are lots of stupid people in the world...

  8. I've had no problems placing a Oracle strap on my AP ROO MBW watches. I just sold my one MBW with a kevlar Oracle strap on it using the deployment. I also have a carbon fiber and a hornback from Oracle too.
  9. I agree...damn expensive. ...and it looks like it is used!
  10. That is for sure not a gen insert. The numbers are the biggest flaw imho. I hope you didn't pay too much for it...more like a $20 insert. I wish Rolex had placed some better markings on the backside of the inserts to make them easier to determine gen. Funny thing though...I bet that 99% of gen owners would not know the difference!
  11. I saw that one the other day. I am not sure either. That guy has been selling some other items that I have questioned if they were gen as he said they were...i.e. crown, a movement, etc. Maybe one of the other members might know this case better. The 16800 is what I am not use to seeing for use with a gen movement in aftermarket form.
  12. I don't think I ever posted a pic of mine...7032 and here is a pic with his brother Mr. Tudor 7016
  13. I wear mine loose, so that might be the problem for than being tight. It moves a lot more when they are worn loose. I have four right now, and they all have the wear line mark on the inside of the rubber strap.
  14. Usually this happens because the deployment clasp cuts into the strap at that point. I had one almost wear thru, but I caught it before it broke! I just look at all of my HBB and they all have a "wear line" at about that position where the deployment rubs. This could even be a problem with the gens as I remember a HBB owner complaining how his strap had broken and that it cracked his ceramic bezel when the watch fell on the ground. Chris should be able to set you up. You might want to get an extra as well when you order it...
  15. I have a Phong Tudor 7016 Sub I have been thinking about changing the crystal on. What is the difference between the t19 and the t39? I have been told they both fit. It is the height of the crystal or? I have been considering a T39 super dome from Clark's, but thought I had better ask before ordering one. Opinions on doing this change are welcome too!
  16. The hands look gen to me. Probably a set of service replacement hands... Are their any decent aftermarket redials that look decent to gen? I am looking for one for my 1570 movement 1665. I know MBW is close...but looking for maybe a better redial that fits the 1570...i.e. feet placement, singer dial markings, etc.
  17. Great review! I have one of these and they are very close to the gen! My buddy works at my local AD and I had to tell him mine was a rep. He could not tell otherwise (of course he is not as anal as most of the rep collectors! lol) The blue is very, very close. It is hard to capture the color in pics, but it changes as does the gen! Enjoy...and yes I am into the blue theme too...with my Z06 Vette and all of my blue watches!
  18. Looks great! The band it though the presidential band, not the jubilee band...
  19. Will do Alligoat! Maybe at a GTG soon...I have been wanting to do this project for a while... So I guess really there are no "good" aftermarket dials for these models? I know the fonts have always been a problem as I have read...
  20. I am about to purchase a case and other items to build another franken. I have a gen 1570 movement that is looking for a new home in a case. I am thinking a Yuki Vietnam case. I could use a MBW, but I have worked with Yuki cases before and like them. I want some good advice on which project to do...and why. Which dials would you use and how close are the cases (i.e. any mods that you would do to the case for a more 1:1 look?)? I have built a few frankens before, but not either one of these models...more on the Tudor side. Which band would these also take...9315 or? and what endlinks? I know a few of these questions have been answered before, but one thread with everything would help a few of us out on our holy grail watch project!
  21. No, the plating won't usually come off if it is hit. They usually have a medium thickness plating on them or some people call it wrapped. Usually the gold will wear off in time, but some of the newer ones seem to be better...almost to the level of a gold plated Seiko or similar watch.
  22. Contact Yukiwatch.com He can get it for you...
