  1. Greetings to all. My SUV was broken into a few weeks ago- the thief smashed my passenger side window, took my $300 radar detector, $350 Oakleys and case, and my $85 Braun electric razor. I contributed to the crime by leaving the radar attatched to the windshield, I know that. The rest of the vehicle was just ransacked for anything else of value. Insurance covered window repair, and was fixed the next day. But ever since then, I have had a feeling of insecurity in my home- should I invest in a security system (ADT etc.), or hide my watch collection in a closest? How about a safe? Bank safety deposit box? What do you guys do? Yes they are only reps, but I was thinking about how much I've spent so far and would hate to have to do it all over again. Your insight is appreciated. Best, Arty
  2. POTR- Sounds like you are, or were (like me), a vintage watch fanatic. I foolishly dumped all my Gens for financial reasons (Rollies, Breitlings, Omegas). Now I am re-aquiring all my faves via these Rep forums. Cheers, Arty

  4. Freddy- I agree totally. I have seen yours around here and drool profusely each time I view it. Here is a better but still not great pic, of my Gevril Tribeca: Cheers, Arty
  5. Ever since I received my first Chronograph in 1977 for Confirmation graduation, I have been intrigued with how Chronos work. I still have it: As a kid, and on trips, I used to sit in the back of the car while Dad drove on the freeway and at each mile marker, would start the Chrono. When we passed the next mile marker, I would tell him exactly how fast he was driving for the previous minute. It might have been fun for him at first, but I'm sure I got on his nerves eventually! Now, after owning many chronos including a 1952 Breitling Navitimer with the AOPA logo (watch is long gone) which as you may know, before electronics, many pilots used to calculate important information in-flight. So, owning a functional mechanical chronograph is probably not practical for most people anymore; but for me knowing it's history makes them enjoyable pieces in my collection. Here are a few I own right now: Ciao, Arty
  6. Wait a minute- I just did a Google image search and see that the 9931 is a 70's digital watch- am I on Candid Camera? There won't be a rep of this! Tell your friend to save up and buy the real McCoy. Good Luck my friend, Arty
  7. DP- Here are the only GPs I could find doing quick research, neither is exactly what your friend is looking for but maybe either dealer could source the exact one for you. King is recommended, but use the other dealer at your own risk: http://www.cclv.net/0.htm http://www.cqout.com/item.asp?id=3232160 Good luck, Arty
  8. Damn! I knew someone was going to mention that! The other photo I snapped just holding it, turned out fuzzy. Oh well, best to all, Arty
  9. Just gorgeous Victoria! This one would have been good in that shot too, huh? Finally pried it off my wife's wrist for photos...Ciao, Arty
  10. I just want to see the best of the best; whatcha' got?
  11. Your 1680 is just beautiful, Mezzy. And, that shot is making me HUNGRY! Best, Arty
  12. Doc- I believe Silix has the identical model, but this is from a source I discovered before I joined any of these Rep forums. Please PM me; I got 'in trouble' once previously... Best, Arty
  13. Loving my 'new' Vintage GMT Master; not changing any time soon... Ciao, Arty
  14. Since many of us feel cheated for never seeing a photo; might I present this similar watch up for sale on fleabay for your viewing pleasure... Ciao, Arty
  15. We are trying to find its value in todays market. I got too anxious to be first to point you in the right direction of a rep. But then, why did post this on a Rep forum? Anyway, go here for more info: http://www.antiquorum.com/ Arty
  16. Oh, market value is about 40 grand.
  17. Hmmm, 1987 huh? Drop the two zeros, not sure where you got them, and do a google image search. Then, visit Josh or Andrew's sites and compare pictures. You will find your holy grail. Sorry for not spelling it out, I'm on my way out the door to go see "I am Legend". Best of luck, Arty
  18. It's a Gen, and I could- but don't choose, to afford it. Here is my $80 USD- shipped, Rep: I've already owned Gens of many popular Rollies, and will not be traveling down that avenue again, until I hit the lottery. There, I said it. Congrats, Arty
  19. I'm not supposed to have this yet, but I snuck a few photos- long story... Happy Holidays! Arty
  20. Typically, 'handed over to customs' is a bad translation of the normal process of 'going through customs'. Relax; I'll bet you have no need to worry. Best, Arty
  21. That one is my personal 'Holy Grail', and- this auction has gone on and on for many weeks. It's priced a bit higher than market value, but I suspect a Japanese collector will pull the trigger very soon. I had a chance to buy one in 1989 for 3000 USD, and walked away from the deal. I would venture to guess that in 10-15 years, it will be worth 1,000,000 USD plus. Guess I'll stick with Josh and Andrew for any similar future purchases ): --Closest I've come to it so far; purchased on Ioffer before the sellers goods were banned: Best, Arty
  22. Thanks for the info, both of you; I'll check it out... Best, Arty
  23. I believe I am receiving Andrew's steel stick marker triple register chrono Navitimer for a holiday gift- but I think it will have a steel bracelet. Any ideas about where I can score a black leather, white stitched, NON-deploymant strap? I own a Gen tan with logo buckle strap, but I really want black. I found a couple on the trusted dealer's sites, but they are too much $ including shipping to the U.S. Any ideas? Thank you and best regards, Arty
  24. What Rep were you wearing? Were you nervous that a salesperson would notice your watch and you might have to 'come clean'? Or maybe you were wearing a non-rep? I always feel funny going into those places... Best, Arty
  25. Looks like you've got some nice ones coming- please post pics when they arrive! Best, Arty
