  1. Baltic - thanks for the compliments. I just kitted out my own fiddy with a new Simona Vintage Tan strap - really nice and the smell. DSN's hands are an absolute must have for the fiddy as the rep minute hand has too small a diameter pinion end.
  2. Black for me - less snazzy looking if you know what I mean.
  3. Sorry - mis read that. I thought you got a new bezel only.
  4. Dadog - how is the bezel attached? Have you changed it and can you take a pic of the underside of the bezel? I've been scratching my head over this for ages.
  5. Thanks admin - guess I caught it before the headings were removed. Good idea.
  6. @Chronus - clear your PM box out as I'm trying to message you.
  7. But to throw a spanner into this - the new Breitling Chronomat Evo is being offered as Swiss or Asian 7750 - so maybe they have changed the hand post sizes again. Unless they are making 2 different sets of hands!!
  8. I actually handled one of these at the recent Panerai event at my local AD - nice but gimmicky. The desk clocks are also a quartz movt. They also make a desk barometer as well!!
  9. Yep - I'm still up for it.
  10. Just to clarify a few points on all the rep watches. The reps are made in factories that make genuine watches - if you see what I mean, so all are made with conventional techniques and commonly available watch materials. This means that the crystals are held into the case using nylon compression rings (as are Swiss watches), case tubes are press fitted into cases and have internal O rings (as are Swiss watches), crowns have O rings (as Swiss do) and casebacks have O rings as Swiss do. The main thing to check is that the caseback is tight as often they are not. Any lubrication should be done with silicon grease (which will not attack the rubber). The only difference between a rep PAM and the gen is that Panerai use a double O ring inside their case tubes (so they are over engineered) where the reps use a single O ring. Also on PAM's the locking levers are not always very tight against the crown so sometimes do not exert the full pressure on the crown sealing it against the tube. In practice this would mean that a rep PAM might not be watertight if diving with it but certainly able to be showered with. If the CG was "adjusted" then no reason why it would not be water resistant to at least 30m and maybe a lot more. Many have been pressure tested to 100m.
  11. Here is Hirsch's website - these straps are available from any AD selling Hirsch straps - sometimes the 24mm size will be a special order. http://www.hirschag.com/index.1.1.html
  12. Crown is not in focus which might be why it looks funny. Too difficult to say from this pic so I will go with gen just because you asked!!!
  13. I just used one that was the full width of the head - no specific size - then cut a slot in it with a thin cutting disc on my dental micro motor (a more advance dremel type machine).
  14. It just has the same transfer gears as all the 7750's that are made to function like a 7753 - this just has the 6 o'clock gear left out is all. Nothing wrong with them as the minute counter is not under any stress at all. @ Chronus - did you get my email - your PM inbox is full.
  15. Schultz - you have been duly removed and thanks for letting me know the situation. The wheels are being printed between now and next week so I should be able to start shipping them very soon.
  16. FF - that PVD is very cool indeed. I surprise myself by saying that but it really is - congrats.
  17. As far as I know it's unlikely to go ahead for the foreseeable future. I was told that other new projects and a lot of new watches are taking priority so I doubt very much we will see this at all now. Also availability of the 7753 movt has to be a question as well since it's no longer available from ETA.
  18. They are not glued in at all - they are real screws. It's not difficult to modify a screwdriver with a dremel.
  19. My comments were not a criticsm at all - merely observations. I also stated that in comparison to the gen from the front all that you could see (if you really looked hard) was the datewheel font difference and even then you'd have to have them side by side. However I do have a major issue with the quality control of these. I ordered 2 (one for me and one for a friend) and both have nearly all the threads for the screws stripped. If any of you have modified a screwdriver yet see if your screws are done up nicely or just spinning around like both my watches are! This is very poor for an expensive rep. The dealer is exchanging them and I sincerely hope that the replacements are better.
  20. Crown was modified from the original and hand engraved (not brilliant but better than it was!!). The hands are a mix of ETA and Molnija taken from 2 other reps that were parts donors. I stripped the black paint off and aged the brass in vinegar for a couple of days to tarnish them.
  21. The case and caseback are missing some engraving. Between the lugs (well sort of lugs) the case should have Stainless Steel engraved and the caseback is missing the correct model numbers. The 7753 and 7750 are not interchangeable as the datewheels are different sizes and will not align in the dial window. To remove the strap you need to unscrew the bezel screws immediately in line with the strap (these go through the strap plate that goes under the bezel), then undo the 2 screws on each strap plate - the strap can then be removed. Replacement is a reversal. I showed mine to my AD the other day - they were gobsmacked and I compared it to one in their window - impossible to tell apart from the date numbers.
  22. Mikellem and Linkukbora - sorry to treat you in such a manner but it did get your attention and I don't have the time to send everyone PM's about this - if I did I'd have no time to do anything else! I have regularly updated the threads with progress and I would have thought it was easy to see what was happening. Please accept my apologies - your names are duly removed!! Linkukbora - your 7753 wheel is being re-printed right now - it was one of 3 that the printers for some inexplicable reason had missed out and had not corrected. These wheels I can assure everyone will be perfect first time around.
