  1. That resto went well! That's way tighter then mine, Should look stunning on a big crown build!!
  2. I love the olloclip for macro on the go but just a crop of a pic from my camera does the trick for me these days when I'm home.
  3. Great deal its a long 5 If you can live with the condition of course!
  4. Only a gen pearl will do imo! Try this maybe he still has it http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673/message/1426806309/FS-+Rolex+Tritium+Pearl+for+Submariner+5512+5513+1680+1665+CHEAP
  5. Looks great What a nice watch
  6. Looks really nice, she will LOVE it
  7. Thanks guys. Great shot Y!
  8. Good man Very relieved to hear that he made it in time
  9. Try to setup your camera for spot metering, that way you can erase the reflection.. You have to point the camera at dark items to lighten the pic and light items to darken it, find the sweet spot and half press the shutter to lock it (if that's how your camera is set up) or hold ae lock for the same effect, then reposition and focus and shoot, all while keeping the ae locked. That's how you get rid of reflections This is a little helpful It's all about the exposure imho http://www.digital-photo-secrets.com/tip/2879/which-is-best-spot-center-weight-or-matrix-metering/
  10. Just in, thank you Rolojack!! love it, I know it's not perfect and the hands are wrong but it's stunning just the way it is imo. I'm building a true to gen version with gen service dial and hands, gen movement and Phong case etc.. This one and you certainly inspired me to do that but I promise I will enjoy this one just as much!!
  11. I've had more requests for that dial then you could imagine! Not my precious 38! That's one of the things that I'm really looking forward to, I love the non cyclops look
  12. You would be surprised, I've had gens for 15 years now. I can't speak for others but I like both. Actually when I say both I really mean franken's and gens, I don't like reps that have no gen parts, unless it's a very well done vintage Rollie that speaks to me. I like those for my vacations. I was so excited when I happened onto this forum a few years ago, the idea that I could build a watch that was unattainable in its gen form was a mind blowing experience. I've always had gens and I always will but I will also always be interested in this hobby. I've learned more in the past 3 years then I ever did in 12 years without this forum. Imagine how much more a car restorer (weather he uses some aftermarker parts or not) knows about a given car that he worked on compared to the guy who bought it from him.. That fuchsia insert came with the kit, I prefer all black but I really like this one too.
  13. Thanks, all gen Awesome, making your own dials must be extremely satisfying! looking good
  14. That looks stunning, the lume plots are all uniform in colour, mine has some cream and some yellow... I was told it's "washed" and only the remnants of tritium remains. I'm thinking I may hold out for a nice swiss only... Hmm
