  1. The thing is, i took a look at some pictures of crystal presses and tried to build my own tool that statisfied all requirements needed. However it didnt work. If you don't believe me i can take a picture of the gen sapphire later on but do you have any tips on how to solve my problem now as pushing in by hand does not really work...crystal sits tight yet not even. And here it is, the broken crystal:
  2. LOL! Just machined down some material between the lugs, and the gen SELs are fitting fine
  3. Hello friends, Im facing a huge problem. I bought a genuine sapphire crystal from a retail seller and tried to put it into my watch. To do this, ive built my own crystal press which was basically a combination between a hokey puck and a machine vise. But then when I put my watch in, the crystal just cracked......damn Anyway, i have bought another one and now i tried to push it in by hand, too afraid that the crystal press will crack it again. now that i pushed it in, it sits tight, but one side is (just a little bit) higher than the other. Do you think i should leave it like this or try to push it in once again with my machine?? thanx
  4. yes its a genuine sel bracelet, but my case is a non-sel one so i thought it might be a god idea to remove the genuine sels and put the non-sels from my rep-band on instead.
  5. What about buying a used watch that has a 2824 inside, and just taking it out I got 4xETA-2824 and 2xETA-2836 this way for not more than 15$-25$ each
  6. Hello, I have a SEL bracelet, but now I would like to change the SEL endlinks to non-sel ones I purchased today. How can I change them without buying special tools for it?? I hope you can answer me! Danny
  7. Hello friends, Today i'm coming up with a guide to gluing a dial to the eta movement spacer ring. 1.) First thing you have to do, is gluing the spacer ring to the movement. Just apply some epoxy to the area of the movement where the spacer ring is gonna lay on, and wait some time until its fixed. 2.) Put very very little epoxy on the spacer ring and put the dial on. Make sure its just an itty bitty so is does not expand and accidently glue the dial to your overlay. Now put the dial on. (This little epoxy surely would not hold the dial in place that strong, thats why we move on to step 3) 3.) now put a whole bunch of epoxy on the outside of the movement between dial and spacerring. That will glue the movement to the fixed spacer ring from the outside, so no danger of glue getting into the movement or gluing Dial to the overlay. Dont hesitate to put as much as you want 4.) Now you have about 10 minutes to align the Dial properly. Wait some seconds so it got a little bit harder, and then TAAAKE YOUR TIME to check every single date-day if its aligned properly. It took me about 4 whole turnarounds of the datedisc so that every letter is aligned properly. Once you have found the perfect position of the dial (note 0,000000001 inch might decide about whether some letters will be misaligned or not...so take your time). Anyway once you've found the correct position of the dial, wait an hour until things are secured together and there you go It took me several tries to find out about this way. First i glued the ring to the dial and then put it on the movement...result was: letters 25-30 were too low in the date window which would have been a terrible flaw. Also gluing on top of the ring was not a good idea as i fixed the dial to the overlay! So after several misses i tried to glue from the outside and it worked! The epoxy adhesive: I use slow setting 2 component expohy adhesive. It is very strong (25 Newton / mm²) so no matter if you jump around, have a plain crash or get attacked by a shark 100 feet under water, the dial is still gonna be in place beautifully aligning the date in your date window I hope I could help you Danny
  8. just use some epoxy adhesive. Im gluing almost everything with it. It does not expand that much, and its very very strong (mine has 25N/mm²) and water resistent.
  9. Hi guys, I just had an idea. I am a software developer and i could actually use my knowlegde to make our lives a bit easier. Well it's possible to develop a software where you just can hold the movement infront of your computer microphone, and it will tell you at how many beats per hour your watch is currently running. That would make definetly my, and im sure your lives also a bit easier and lets you regulate your movement in a manner of second (no watch smithes needed again EVER ) Would anyone be intrested in such thing? It will be some work to program such thing, thats why im asking if anyone would like start servicing his watches himself
  10. Well i've just ordered one of those. I hope i won't get dissapointed by a piece of unusable junk!
  11. Hello, I want to start a new Submariner Project soon. I don't want to buy a whole new replica because the only thing i would use is the case as I already do have gen dials, case backs, inserts, and eta movements. So i looked around and found the "Alpha Submariner" *lol* which seems to be a 30$ rip off from the rolex submariner. Now im curious if i can use this "fabulous" Alpha case as the basis for my new project. Do you think that the rep case backs will fit this case? Do you think i can put a gen sapphire in? And most importantly...Does the case have the correct shape? I hope you answer quick.....I almost forgot: here a picture of that hunk of garbage:
  12. Hello friends, I was wondering if someone has or someone knows where I can get an appropriate case back sticker for my 16610 from? All I found (not only on ebay) does not really look like the genuine thing. This is one thing ive found for example, but the 16610-Letters should be in black and not holograhic: So can anyone help me?
  13. I think i will just glue in the genuine gasket. As it has the proper size i think it should be no big deal to assemble the 295c to it then. I think I should take photos of my work
  14. hey admin, i really like your work. you did a very good job and the layout is terrific. Seems to have some minor issues in mozilla/firefox (upper right corner menu), if you'd get that fixed (what im sure is not much work for you) everything would be absolutely perfect. Hang tight! Danny
  15. Hey friends, Happy New Year to all of you, and a kickin start into the fabulous 2007. Today I received my genuine 295C sapphire crystal, but it seems to be a little bit smaller (diameter) and thinner in comparison to the rep one. I cant check if it's gonna fit right now as i sent in my case to a very nice and helpful member who was willing to help me out with my gen-tube-problem. However, i am very confused now and im wondering if it's gonna fit...what do you think? Do you think that my doubts are justified, or do you think the new gasket will do it? Thank you all, Flip
  16. Hey friend, You are missing two parts, there must have been a little spring and a small metal bolt located inside that small hole. Make sure you get a metal detector and search those two things before you vacuum your room the next time. The Spring and the small bolt are the actual parts that make the click sound, and which prevent the bezel from being turned clockwise. (Spring pushes the bolt against the teeth, so the bezel can be turned only in that directon, where the teeth are at an angle)
  17. Hey, I think I completely [censored]ed up my Submariner when trying to assemble a genuine Tube to it. What i did first...I got a genuine Tube and a genuine Crown, and of course tried out if they fit together or not..they fitted perfectly and I could screw the Crown to the Tube. Right...Then I countersank my case with a 4,9mm drill, i think ive overdone it a bit but okay. Now there are two Problems...when screwing the Tub in it's not even, its higher on one side than on the other side...weird?!?!? And the even BIGGER PROBLEM IS...after i screwed the tube in with a pair of pliers (claws) i cannot screw the Crown in anymore. I mean i can put it on the tube, but it does not screw in anymore..it just stayse loose. Please help me, i paid so much money for the parts and i hope that you can help me fixing my watch. I appreciate any answers...thank you!
  18. Hey, As I have alreadey spent a sh*t load of money on a gen tube+crown i definetly will countersink the hole and live with the overhang. In your answer you told me that...if I choose this way I will have to apply water resistant glue. But where exactly do I apply the glue to???? To the hole before I screw-in the gen tube...or just to the "overhang"-area??? Thanx
  19. Hi there, I'm facing the same problem with the tube-hole. My tube hole is not centered, so i'm not sure if i can just contersink it to make my gen tube fit. What happens if i countersink it anyways, so that the hole will "overlap" the bottom of the case....will the water resistance be put in jeopardy, or will it be just a cosmetic issue?
  20. Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone would like to start printing Date Overlays. I have a Datewheel from my old Replica Submariner with open sixes, i could make some laser printer copies and could send them to someone who is intrested and who has the ability to print/copy it on special paper and cut them out professionally. I don't know if this would work, but if someone is intrested in starting his own datewheel business i could make some high quality copies of it (different qualities, sharpnesses, and so on) just give me a shout...no charge, but it'd be nice if this guy could sent me one of his new self made datewheels then Regards.
  21. I see! I will give it a try. But what glue should i use. I think double sided duct tape won't last very long as im upgrading from a miyota movement and have not the possibility to use movement lever screws, i only have the white spacer ring...means the movement will be held in position just by the dial. what would you propose...some special glue or should i fill the free space inside the watch case with old magazine paper? Thank you for any replies. Regards.
  22. What exactly is this spacer ring...how can i spot it? And how do i actually put the epoxy (what ever that is) on this spacer ring, is there not the danger of gluing important party of the movement? And if I glue the dial directy to the movement...sure it's not gonna touch the datewheel overlay and prevent it from moving? Hope you can answer my questions because i really want to get my timepiece to work as soon as possible Regards
  23. I already tried buying genuine ones, but unfortunately they don't fit...they dont even line up with the case, they look sort of sunken into the case.....looks horrible.
  24. Genuine solid endlinks have a 580 engraved on the right side of the link. But unfortunately most aftermarket bands do NOT have this. Does anyone have an idea how i could engrave this number into them in order to make em closer to the genuine one? Thanx
  25. Hello, I would like to know how i can glue the dial directly to my new eta movement. where do i put the glue on? Hope you can help me because im absolutely clueless. Thanx
