Other option is Hijack in Spain. He has another name in RWG (don't know it) but goes under Hijack in Rep Geek. Very skilled.....good rates......I've used him a few times with good results.

@Valerian - I thought maybe it ha ddecided to avoid the forthcomming (and now present) siberian spell we're having here..... @FxrAndy - sounds plausible. At least it's working now so not totally dead. I think I'll have it serviced soon (maybe next month - need to recover a bit from Xmas etc). Thanx all....

Got hold of a swiss 183 last year in a trade. Watch was fine until 26th December just past, when at 17.30 it decided to stop ticking.....and it was fully wound. I left it in the watch box contemplating a service/repair. Then on 4th January it decided to start ticking again....all by itself. I'm wearing it today and so far no problems..... anyone have any ideas over what could have caused this? I plan to have it serviced and regulated in the near future, but just wondered if anyone had an opinion???? Thanx all

I may be wrong, but the gen and ultimates should have a push in crown.....at least that's what I understand from having read about previously.... Gen is not relaly water resistant and the push in crown supports that.

Saw Transporter II - Panerai Daylight crono. Loved it but had no idea of the brand etc. Googled it; bought one (rep). Had issues. Found RWG forum. Read, read, read..... Started buying other reps. Now have small but satisfactory collection (all modded pieces and frankens), and a lot more knowledge than I started with.....

I'd tend to reject it. It doesn't seem to be a UPO. All the reasons mentioned before - short hands (I agree; all look short), HE position, engravings. And for me date wheel looks low and the font looks off. EDIT - and the pearl is wrong. Omegas don't have raised pearls.....

I don't know Hijack's name here (he has another one for RWG). But he's more active on RepGeek. OR PM me with your contact details and I'll pass them to him... Ziggy's work is also exceptional, and has dealt with many, many EU members. Maybe you can contact both and decide based on replies etc.

Gen dial and hands IS the best way to go, but maybe out of your budget. Hijack here in Spain (know by that name in RG) does good lume work. He has another name here but I'm not sure what it is...

Thankyou very much......a simple explanation.....even I can follow that I assume moving the arm means at the narrow tip of the arrow, with say the smallest screwdriver I have so as not to touch anything else? Or a wooden toothpick better to avoid scratching any surfaces? Moving simply means 'pushing' gently? Many thanks...

Hi all.... 2 manual PAM's of mine are running a bit fast. A 183 and a 113 - manual unitas Swiss (believed true) /Chinese/Swinese 6947 movements. Both have needle adjuster like pic here (this is the 113 before a change to caseback. The 183 has the Cotes Genevre finish) They are gaining like a minute over 1.5 - 2 days. So my question is - for slowing them down a fraction, is it as simple as popping the back off and nudging the needle adjuster slightly towards the '-' side? Do you have to loosen any screws in the process, or dismount the movement from the case? Anyone have a simple idiots (that's me) step-by-step guide as to how to do this? And what tools necessary? Or should I refrain from potentially buggering these up, and head to a watchsmith?? All help gratefully received....

I personally like most of the new line. Except the 'daylight' crono with blue dial... The 312 for example - I've tried one on in an AD and been in a meeting with someone wearing one. It has a lot of presence without 'shouting'. Thicker, bulbeous caseback lifts the watch a little off the wrist, adding to the presence. Date without cyclops is nice - I was never a cyclops fan. And the movement from behind looks superb. I think Panerai needs to do something to justify their price tags, and the evolution of in house movements is a step in the right direction. They need to be modernizing without losing their essence, and as a 'first' collection they haven't done too badly. It'll be interesting to see where they go from here....

Already making my small list, as I'm mince at trying anything serious. Watch Bitz web site looks great, and the prices also...... Here's hoping it develops quickly and stays for a long time....

I agree. But the big problem here is that the movement, rotor and caseback seem totally plain. No engravings at all........ Such a shame as it's a very nice watch in person. Lots of presence, especially the textured dial....

@Phoband.... Gobsmacked over your history here. And I'm so impressed by how you write about it now. I can only hope that someone looks out for you, and gives you the breaks you need and probably deserve to get your life back into the shape you want.

Hi all IWC experts. The other day in an AD I got to try on the 45mm Ingenieur 7 days. PIC of a gen. Checking the dealers I've found 2 versions it seems. The 42mm with nice decorated movement and seemingly working power reserve indicator. The 45mm with not so nice movement and seemingly faux power reserve indicator. I've done a search here but can't seem to find any references or reviews of either of these. So - any thoughts how these reps stand up? Is there a better 45mm one with decorated movement and working power reserve indicator? If yes - any guidelines as to where? Anyone bought either of these, and how do they compare to the gen? I see the reps also only come on kevlar straps (from the dealer sites I've looked at), whereas the one in the AD was on a gorgeous black croc.... All helps and pointers gratefully received.....

I just sold a 7753 PAM196 dial and hands set. You will need both these for a 7753 build. The A7750 hands and dial won't work as documented above.

RE indent on lugs. I may be wrong, but I believe the gen has this also. It's to provide a space for the strap towards the case and between the lugs. Otherwise if the case has no indent, it would be constantly pressing on the strap at that point, causing fast scuffing and wear. Any gen PAM owners please chome in here to confirm if gen cases have these indents or not. Maybe resolved by the lug holes being placed further towards the end of the lug. But that would incease the gap between straps and the case - fugly in my opinion....
