  1. Mentioning selling my frankens was kind of a joke, sorry if I broke any rules. All sales will be through proper channels if the time comes. I'd love a 16610 lughole sub, I have gen lumi hands and dial I could install and save the trit stuff for when I resell but I'm still looking at $5k. It looks like I could nab a 14060 for around $3.5k though, which is almost what I have into my sean case 16610... Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  2. But I'm not...ready... Haha. I'm feeling very indecisive at the moment although I'm realizing a 14060 is actually in an attainable price range at this point. I'll sleep on it!
  3. It finally happened. I'm cruising ebay looking for sub parts and as I scroll down I start finding complete gen watches. I stare some more and start thinking "what if..." Now, I can't look at any of my subs without seeing the glaring flaws and thinking about what it would be like to have a gen on my wrist. So, who wants to buy some crazy franken subs to fund a gen purchase? I guess I knew this day would come eventually...
  4. Ephry, that looks fantastic! Details?
  5. I thought all those "dressed up" movements were clones, not real ETAs?
  6. No, in theory the AR'd cyclops didn't show until late in the Z-serial run so it would definitely have rehaut engraving. I think it was still a rare occurrence though... V3 is night and day better. DOOOO EEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. I just don't understand how they can charge so much for a case that looks so crappy! So it has lugholes, BIG DEAL!!!
  8. http://www.ebay.com/itm/QUALITY-316L-STAINLESS-STEEL-COMPLETE-REPLACEMENT-CASE-FOR-ROLEX-SUB-REF-16610-/170847945806?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item27c754c44e It seems suspiciously like it might be...
  9. You know that's not a rolex movement, right? Get the TC case and one of his swiss movements and movement rings (you need the 2824 for correct crown height.) It will be much more reliable then the clone you have there and on par with your new swiss 2836. All your gen parts will swap in easily!
  10. Sorry if I missed it, how's the time keeping on this? Has anyone had a chance to see what the amplitude and beat error are on theirs?
  11. Here's another of my remixes, let me know what you think!
  12. There is another bezel option I can get besides Clark but it's still going to run you the better part of $250... Also, you would not believe how much better a gen crystal is then a clark until you see them side by side. Unfortunately I'm completely spoiled and won't go back now!
  13. I think Phong is the source for the engraving these days... Where did you find your movement? I'm considering one for my build but I can't swallow the huge expense. There's nothing on ebay for less then $2k...
  14. Well, since your sean case probably has an M serial TECHNICALLY speaking you'd need the Mk3 dial I think but I used a Mk2 dial in my Sean build (Basically the same setup as yours) and I really don't care if it's wrong. By the time someone pulls the bracelet off to check the serial they'll know it's fake anyway so why bother fretting about letter spacing over a gap of a few years? My dial was replaced, I got an older one in great shape! As far as you know... What engine is under the hood of your build?
  15. iRolexU, what does the rest of your build consist of? Your bezel looks ok for the era...
  16. What size is the gen DW?
  17. That's a great comparison! Any chance you can get some pics of the keyless on both though? PM me if you don't want to post them here...
  18. Can anyone get me a picture of the Y3135 keyless please? I have an SA3135 with dead keyless and I'd be curious to know if there's any compatibility between the two before I order... Thanks! Brendan
  19. How much for the lumi insert? ;-)
  20. Mostly it's about how the case and the tube is threaded but you can correct it a little with how you install the tube and the gaskets you use on the crown. It's kind of luck of the draw though... My lughole sub points up, my Sean case sub doesn't even come close...
  21. Is no one going to comment on the 16610 and the 16570 CGs being completely different? And also, what's with the GMT thread jack all of a sudden?? To the OP: that's not a gen bezel or insert, sorry.
  22. Those pictures look fantastic, Jason! Thank you for posting them! I hope you thoroughly enjoy the watch and wear it well! Like I said, I stand behind my builds and if you have any problems with it don't hesitate to drop me a line and I'll get you back up and running. Cheers, Brendan
  23. Please tell me someone else noticed the incorrect crown position... I think the Sean case is THE way to go for a 16610T build, engravings be damned. For lug holes you could go with the aforementioned sterile option (with some reshaping) or have some holes drilled in a TC case if you soften the edges a little.
