  1. The hour and seconds hand are fine.....too close to tell any difference. Im wearing my Seamaster Chrono right now and I JUST got in my package containing gen hands (all 6 of them). As I said...the hour and seconds hands are spot-on with the GEN. The 4 chrono hands are a different story. The orange on them issnt quite as brilliant at the GEN hands.....the reps are a bit lighter in color. Hope this helps!

  2. I gotta be honest with you guys, and I hope some of you can chime in with more knowledge.

Yesterday I stopped by Jared's jewelry store and took a look at a Gen PO 45mm..........I also have seen the Silix version and Andrew's version, and honestly, I don't understand why the Silix is not considered "Ultimate" when in actuality it is closer to the real thing!!

the differences I saw were: the bezel's luminator is not as nice as Andrew's version (which is closer to the Gen), and the date lettering being Serif. But the Omega logo on the Silix was the correct one, and the AR coating on both of them seem the same.

Unless I'm really missing something, I just don't see a)why Silix is not considered ultimate, and b)why to pay $100 more for the ultimate.

any clarifications/comments would certainly be appreciated!

I agree wholeheartedly with you! I too have a Silix PO and love it. I have bought from Silix several times and every time has been a joy. Easy payment and always fast shipping (atleast for me). A+ for Silix.

  3. Hi, sorry for the delay. I'm not sure if the Silix PO has the correct logo on it. As for 'Casino Royale version', that depends entirely which watch you are talking about, as there are two which come under that catagory.

The 2900.50.91. The 'standard' Planet Ocean Big Size. Black bezel insert, white numerals. This is the watch Daniel Craig wore in Casino Royale, and the watch I have. There is also, however, a 'Casino Royale Limited Editon' variant. Essentially, the same watch as standard, but it has a different second hand, with 007 in pumpkin at the base of the hand, and has a case back which, rather than the Omega Seamonster, features the words Casino Royale. This is purely a marketting-created watch to appeal to collectors of Bond Memorabelia. Only problem, is Bond would never wear a watch with his serial number on it, and personally, I'd rather wear the watch which was featured in the movie ;)

The black strap with pumpkin stitches fits very well with the pumpkin numbers, as the stitching and numbers complement each other. The only problem with this strap, is it has a 'square' end, and leaves the rest of the lug space 'open', where the Planet Ocean rubber strap (as Daniel Craig wore) fills up the lugs. At the end of the day, it's just a matter of personal taste :)

    Very well said!

  4. 1 to 1 is generaly a fantasy, this is a rep @10% the price of the gen, it is a different watch from the upo. It does not have AR at least i can definatly say on the Bond watch, The bracelet issues are another matter, due to lug holes being drilled in a different place on the UPO and silix, I have a UPO strap on my silix and the SEL required moding to get it to fit, when you put a silix rubber band on a UPO you need the perfect spring bars to stop it bending out at the lugs, there are numerous posts about it here abouts, For the price difference i would go for the Silix, only geeks like us and gen geeks recognise the AR and other small faults, you will never fool either no matter how good your rep is (ubi's daytonas excluded)

I just ordered a gen double AR's crystal for mine...so no issues there! =)

  5. you're right about that...apart from all the brass junk, "really green crystal" breitlings and "black-bagged" rolexes, there's one seller that happens to have some of the stuff that i see on our dealer's site(s). Looks more like Andrew's stuff. He won't immediately show you the "good stuff" unless if you know what you're looking for.

the ones that go down to canal st. often probably know who i'm talking about. i've been there maybe 10 times in the last three weeks. I go to him because I can actually FEEL and WEAR the stuff before I buy.

Any pics of the stuff you have gotten from him?? I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have a local dealer that I can go to. Ah.....no more shipping! =)

  6. So, yesterday I was bored (waiting for Fatherday day dinner, which was in the evening. So a few friends and I made a quick trip into the city to have a look around. There are Rep items everywhere...most of extremely low quality. I happened to spot this one watch....and bought it for 45 bucks. While it is by no means comparable to our dealers reps....it wassnt terrible. It appears to have an AR coating...but I dont think its real. It looks like a coating meant to mimic the look of A/R. Some pics:

  7. You can sometimes find them on eBay, they used to be pretty expensive when I got mine a few years ago. I think I paid around $200 for mine, but it looks really nice and the wood trim is very dark and finished beautifully, so I didn't mind paying a little extra.

Cool...thanks for the tip. I'll have a look around the "bay".
