There are no out of the box 1016 or any decent vintage Rolex. Your best bet is get a modder to build one or build one yourself. If you search here, RWI and Repgeek, there were a lot of projects been done already. Sent from my SM-N976B using Tapatalk

if money was no option, would you buy a genuine Milsub
philwongnz replied to Timelord's topic in General Discussion
I worn the gen for a few days and I will definitely buy it. Given the hype with Paul Newman Daytonas or four digits Daytonas, these pieces are simply "limited" compared to say normal Paul Newman Daytonas. A sub is one of the first watch I like (along with a Zenith white dual 16520 Daytona) and a 5517 would definitely by one of my grails. Compared to a 6538 or a PCG explorer dial 5513, to me this model trumps both of them. The hands and bezel are so unique and when worn it really "pops" on your line of sign comparing to a normal 4 digit Subs. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk -
Great build, but I personally found the lume now a bit too raised. I have seen the gen and its is a bit more flatter. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk

I am struggling to comprehen how he can ask for 1200 USD? When is around 400ish with a TD. I think you better do more research over at Repgeek and RWI, for as far as I know. There isn't any "high end" RM besides the ones the TDs are currently offering. I did read where some Instagram dealers are "trying their luck" on rep RMs as the gen cost a lot and they somehow can trick people paying way more than what TDs would charge. http://www.trustytime.club/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=274&products_id=18248

Swiss seiko movement? I never know Seiko (being a Japanese company) makes movement in Switzerland. Also I never heard they make movements. Care to tell us if you are buying from a TD? Or from some Instagram watch dealer? Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk

Replicas in general if you are buying a reasonable price one (say 350ish and up) should be reliable. On saying that, there are a lot of variables involved. -how rough are you with your watches? -what movement doesn't it have? -what material is it made from say steel vs forged carbon -your climate? Is it humid or mild. Things get more aged depending on weather conditions -are you wearing the watch every day? What I'm trying to say is, your questions are too generalised. One version of a rep might be better than other and that could be from the same factory. For example my AD friend said customers who wear their Patek every day actually tend to return them cos some models are actually not very reliable or accurate-not many people would actually wear a Patek as a beater as they probably have more than one watch anyway. I think you might be over analysing for rep which I can honestly say is very affordable amount compared to gen. Steinhart are good watches, but to me they are pretty ugly but reliable. Is not an apple to apple debate. Enjoy reps, do your research and relax, is not an investment or a marriage but more of a hobby. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk

I have been on rep forums since 2010, I can't say I had seen a vintage Heuer been repped. At that time it wasn't expensive to buy a gen (1500ish USD). Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk

You can not fault Trip with his amazing work, here's mine where I have requested the bezel to have some "paint cracks". I am fortunate to have worn and seen the gen so I was quite particular with its finish. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk

Great build, I have worn a gen before. The bezel insert is pretty good with serif but the font is slightly too thin. The hands seems a little odd to me where the lume seems to have been sitting quite far behind rather than almost flush with a gen. The hands also seems to be a smidge too thick. The gen is an amazing piece, I got given a loupe to look at the knights and the tiled ground, the details are very intricate.. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk

Is a nice build. What annoys me is, there seems to be no good inserts for the mil sub. No one seems to be able to get the font right. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk

Rumour is after 2018 CNY by Noob, but is only been 6 yrs! I personally don't use the chronos and I own the gen. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
