  1. i could live with these flaws. im sure 99% of the general population would not even notice. I just had some guy at the gym ask me about the watch. i told him its a Panarai and he just gave me back a blank look. hahahahah then he told me , "nice watch"

So can anyone comment on the weight of the 111h. again, it seems really light to me but i have a UPO and breitling bentley. maybe thats throwing it off. but the 111h doesnt feel solid on my wrist.

are other pams pretty light as well?

  2. hey guys

just wanted to post some thoughts on my first PAM i got recently. This is an asian 111h from silix. i have been reading this forum for a little while now. never thought of myself as a PAM guy but like most of you , I have grown to love them. I am still a newb so im not exactly sure about all the exact flaws that come with PAMS. truthfully, if shown pixs of a 100 dollar PAM and a davidson, I probably wouldnt know the difference half of the time. That being said, here are some of my observations.

    - The watch is light! i own a bentley on a leather strap and a 44.5mm PO. i understand that these are big heavy watches but the PAM feels almost cheap on my wrist. I understand the watch is on a cheap rep strap but do all PAMs feel light?

    - Besides the lightness, the actual watch looks pretty solid (when strap is taken off) everything seems to be build great.

    - MOST impressive thing abou the watch is the AR. it more than makes up for the lightness. This watch glows blue way more than my UPO? For around 100 bucks??? its simply amazing.

    - Lume is decent when charged but fades away in minutes. I guess i might step up to a davidson or something because im starting to lust after the lume. hahhaha

    - i distressed the strap witrh bleech and scuffed it up with a comb. let me know what you think.

    - overall, great watch for the value ! i think im sprung now. bitten with the PAM bug and starting my quest for the perfect PAM.

Here are the pixs. i really didnt know what i was doing but i think they turned out pretty nice.

so now you see this pixs. give it to me straight, tell me of ALL the flaws.

*special thanks to coolfire for answering all my newb questions =)

  3. wow, very interesting. good find!

i had one question...what do you mean by ratchet? Can you be more detailed about how to tell. I think i might have an Asian when i was told i was sold a ETA.

Because of things kicking off elsewhere in this and other fora, and the distinct possibility of certain watches being passed off as having one type of movement when what they have bears no relation to the description whatsoever, I am sure that there are owners of ultimate Planet Oceans who ordered and paid for it to have an ETA2824 movement who may now be thinking that they wouldn't know if the watch actually had the Asian movement described by certain dealers as 2824-2 (which bears little resemblance to the real 2824 and is actually much closer in design to typical cheap Asian movements we are used to in reps, which I will explain shortly).

Well, here is how to tell without having to remove the caseback. Unscrew the crown and hand-wind the watch a little. If your movement is ETA then the winder will ratchet in both directions as you would expect. If your movement is the Asian the winder will ratchet in one direction only and spin freely the other.

I discovered this yesterday when I was asked to check over a uPO 'lite' an acquaintance had bought from one of our cartel dealers (despite my misgivings....). Externally the watch is identical in almost every detail to my ETA uPO, the only visual difference being the date font, but without something to compare it to most buyers will not be able to rely conclusively on that as a tell.

Notwithstanding the fact that this person paid only $17 less for his watch than I paid a non-cartel dealer for mine, this little discovery about the operation of this movement makes me call into question its description as a 2824-2.

Now, I haven't heard of anyone being mis-sold an Asian uPO as an ETA and no-one has yet reported such a thing in the forum, so I present this information purely so that owners can put their mind at rest. However, I think it opens up another issue about movement representation in general by the cartel dealers who we already know will mis-name a product to make it more appealing.

It does not function the same way as a 2824 except insofar as it has the same beat, but to suggest that this justifies the description is a bit like suggesting that because an articulated lorry has the same horsepower as a Ferrari then they are the same. This movement looks and feels like a faster beat version of the DG2813 I just bought to replace the dead movement in PAW - it even carries the same markings (WO under the balance wheel).

Take a look. Here is a stock photo of the DG2813 from the people I bought it from...

    225365-13425.jpg

    and the uPO lite movement....

    225365-13426.jpg

Ignore the shape of the rotor (which has been clearly cut to mimic the shape of the ETA rotor) and look at all the other details.

This Asian movement described as 2824 looks nothing like the 'Asian 2824' The Zigmeister did a breakdown of (which IMO deserves to carry the number 2824). This movement is a Miyota copy ie. a copy of a Japanese Citizen movement, but that doesn't sound nearly as nice as the completely false 'Asia copy ETA' description now, does it?!!

Don't get me wrong - it's a half way decent movement, but it ain't what they are saying it is. Not even close....

  4. So even if he doesnt know...he gets these watches from SOMEWHERE..and he then just blindly lists them as "ultimates"??

the same ones as josh, andrews..???

if he is really that clueless, he might have to get out of the rep game.

regardless, he gets a chance to respond and clear his name.

Sorry to say, I don't think he knows the "tells" to look for between versions. He had a vintage Daytona for sale on the other forum, called it Lemania, but in reality it had the old asian 7750. Not very confidence inspiring I'm afraid.
  5. he should be taking this opportunity to promote a fair business. he will surely gain market share here.

i let him know politely when i emailed him back..

i am still interested in some of his wares.

but really, even if he is a novice at movements, or watches in general, dont you think he would KNOW the difference between hes watch and the ultimate ? (it is SO clearly stated by his email) i am going to give him the benefit of the doubt for this time only. hopefully he can realize his mistake and we can move on.

  6. Yes that the predecessor to the Ultimate. A good watch, but not the Ultimate one you are looking for. Below is the ultimate.... and a way of telling

    224267-13633.jpg

A quick way to tell is on the top sub dial. You see the number 10, directly after that is a mark, whereas on the predecessor there is no marker there. And the lack of AR. The two ways I use to distinguish the two, there are more, but they're the most obvious for me.

thanks man. i really appreciate the knowledge. we gotta stick together..in lieu of the current state of things

  7. heres my email per trevor from RWI..

Thank you very much for your email

Yes,this is the latest , ultimate version of the watch

that is the same with the watch i am selling

Yes i can other face colors, could you tell me which colors dail do you need ?

I can get the BCE with that strap

    Thank you very much

    white lies?????

  8. im a newbie..first and foremost.. and i read ALL 10 pages. it doesnt really take watch experience to figure out whats going on here from a business perspective but every single one of you can make your own decision.

despite this being a black market, money is MONEY! the dealers NEED us, plain and simple. in my opinion, none of us should be making excuses for them.

that being said, we still have this incredible appetite for our beloved rep watches.

I dont think no one has mentioned this...

BUT WHERE ARE THE OTHER DEALERS (non cartel) IN THIS. if everything is true, they are being cut of my the pie.

PLEASE STEP UP..MAINTAIN YOUR CHEAPER PRICES AND INCREASE THE CUSTOMER SERVICE. this is your opportunity to fill in and shoak up demand.

until those dealers start colluding. its an endless cycle of greed, people. sad but true. so as a community, constant house cleaning IS essential.

  9. already posted on RWI..

    Hey everyone,

im pretty sad right now. I recently bought a bentley from a member here (my first rep!!) and the bezel came off when it dropped off my wrist. I had it on a leather strap and it just dropped off from the spring bars. good thing the sapphire didnt crack or anything and it still works =)

It was my birthday last weekend but i wasnt drunk enough NOT to noticed it fell off. hahahahah i mean it probably weights 5 lbs so i would have to be pretty blacked out not to notice.

I need some advice on how i can fix this. I think its part of "bezel" that fell off. The engraved part of the ring. The part that makes it SHINE! I can still turn the bezel thou. DAMNIT. its still wearable but it really just breaks my heart that that missing part isnt there.

any suggestions guys/gals ? Does anyone have that extra part? I will pay more than its worth. Any experience of replacing parts??

at least i found my ID and crdit card i thought i lost. happy 27th to me ! hahah
