  1. Tag is the college guys dream watch. That's what I wanted when I was in college. I went to Michigan. My brother was also there with me. He said he was sitting in class by a few football players that just got drafted to the NFL and they were talking about what Tag they were going to buy.
  2. I got my wife a white one from River. The watch is awesome. The links are solid ceramic. You could see that when you resize the bracelet. The crown screws down and the watch is water resistant. My wife needed a quartz watch b/c she wants to set it and forget it, and she needed one that is water resistant b/c she washes her hands a lot as an ob/gyn. She's up to her elbows in moist stuff if you catch my drift. She loves the watch. It's very unique and hip. It's not pretentious like the standard issue Rolex datejust with diamond dial that many female doctors have. She's gotten a ton of compliments about it. Minor flaws don't matter much in this watch as it is very rare.
  3. I have the 2892 silver face model. The numbers are luminescent. It's not super lume, but it's better than my panerai's. It's probably standard type luminova. I don't know how to tell if the caseback is etched or engraved. I will tell you this. I compared it to the genuine and the case back and engraving/etching are of similar quality. I didn't pull mine out and look at them side by side, but it was in my pocket when I was at the dealer. I have had the watch for a couple of months and wear it about once a week. In terms of reliability, it's been fine so far. Winding the crown is the smoothest of any rep. I've had. There is definetly a difference between this 2892 and the 2836 and 2824 reps I've handled. The rep. isn't perfect b/c the crown is slightly smaller and the seconds hand has to much paint at the tip. On the gen, only the tip is painted. On the rep, the tip and 1-2 mm of the shaft are painted. Since Frank Muller's are extraordinarily rare, this doesn't bother me. I only have a couple of friends who have even heard of it. I would guestimate the quality of this watch to be about 95% of the gen. If you like Frank Muller, get this watch. It is awesome. I would have no qualms wearing it into a Patek or Rolex dealer b/c the quality is that good. I haven't opened that back, but even the rotor is supposed to be correctly engraved.
  4. I got one for my 029 with the 2893. It was unable to be closed b/c the part that pushes on the crown seemed to long. That was the second one I received. The first one I received had the central pin head slightly tilted such that it wasn't perfectly flush with the guard when it was fully seated. That one was closable. I gave up after I returned it and got the second one which didn't close. Jimmy refunded everything for me including shipping, so he's a classy dealer. I'm just unlucky, I guess.
  5. Yes, the 24 hour hand jumps by 1 hour intervals when set, and stays synched to the hour hand.
  6. Chronus is right with how the movement works as I have a 2893. I don't know how a true GMT is supposed to work but it makes sense to me that if you are travelling internationally, you want to keep the 24 hr hand set at your home time or Greenwich mean time or whatever you want. You want to have the ability to move the hours back and forth by to adjust them to your current time zone while having the 24 hand stay put. With the 2893, when you change the hour setting, the GMT hand moves in sync with it to the new setting and merely functions as a 24 hr hand. If you want to to remain at your home time, after you set the hours, you have to set the gmt hand back to where it was. Having said that, the movement works great and is the same movement as the gen 029 and 063.
  7. I love what these ebayers would come up with as stories as to why they're selling there watches. "I'm getting a divorce and I got these watches from my husband and my lawyer tells me to sell them, but I don't know much about them." "The dog ate the papers and the box got stuffed up my ass."
  8. Now you guys have me worried about the lume on the pvd 009 I ordered from him. He advertises it as "SUPER LUMINIOUS DIAL 009/202A WITH SUPER LUM HANDS" which implies superluminova to me. I was hoping that it would glow like my superluminova reluming by The Zigmeister of my 029. Well, I hope it's better than the standard rep. lume.
  9. Nice date font. I didn't realize the font on my 2893 movement 029 was so wimpy until I met someone with a real panerai. The font was big and bold as well as the mag.
  10. I got the silver faced rep. from Joshua. I was just in Vegas and got to compare it to the genuine. It feels pretty much the same in terms of weight and bracelet quality. The crown is slightly different.
  11. How does a new cyclops get put on? Is the old one pried off and the new one glued on?
  12. The bezel size is 33mm for those who were asking.
  13. My new Frank Muller Conquistador.
  14. That's an awesome watch! If I ever buy another genuine, that's what I'm going to get. I think it looks better than a Daytona.
  15. What's the movement in those watches?
  16. Very nice watch. I don't know why the white faced models aren't more popular. I think I need to pick one up. I have a 029, 036, and 183, so I think that 113 would add some variety to the black/brown dials I have already.
  17. One of the doctors I trained with had a genuine. He said it was a $30,000 watch that he bought at an auction for $13,000. He had money but spent it very wisely. It was platinum and very very heavy. The only other watches he owned were Patek Philippes and a Navy Seals Luminox as his water skiing watch. Some day I hope to make it as big as him.
  18. Can you post pictures of your genuine 1680? I have a MBW 1680 that's in need for lume.
  19. I'm glad I grabbed a Nick Faldo when they were out. It isn't perfect, but it's very good. I would love a jumbo. I don't mind that the display back shows that it is a nongenuine movement. The thing that is keeping me from getting the current edition of the jumbo are the YG screws.
  20. I want the markers of my 1680 relumed vintage style. Is Michael the one to do it and if so, who the heck is he?
  21. Here's my polished Nick Faldo with my Jules Audemars Classic.
  22. Here's my Patek Nautilus from River. I consider it the best Patek rep. out there right now for you Patek lovers. I briefly had a gold Calatrava from Eddie which was very accurate in appearance, but was light as a feather b/c of the gold plating, and had an asian movement. This one has I believe a 2824. It has a high level of finish and a good weight to it. It also has a solid unadorned back like the genuine, so there are no display back issues showing nongenuine movements.
