  1. So you've got the QC images or your brand new best replica, like, ever, with that incabloc you always dreamed of, as swiss as cheese, but what about your timegrapher results? What dahell are those? Presets Beat Number Frequency, the vibration of a movement. The number of balance wheel swings per hour or how many times the watch ticks per hour. This is a preset, depends on the watch you order. 14,400 bph = 4 beats per second 18,000 bph = 5 beats per second 21,600 bph = 6 beats per second 28,800 bph = 8 beats per second etc Lift Angle The angle the balance passes through while interacting with the pallet fork. Important to be set correctly in order to calculate the Amplitude. This preset is per caliber specs. Most modern watches have a lift angle of 50 - 52 degrees. Generally lift angles range from 44 to 58 degrees. Some other settings are present, for instance Gen co-axials angle is 30 degrees. Results Rate How fast / slow the movement runs (in seconds per day) great : +/- 5 s/d acceptable : +/- 12 s/d If higher / lower? It is possible to adjust this yourself or ask your dealer to nudge it a bit. Amplitude The measure of the amount of rotation in the swing of the balance wheel, in either direction. Amplitude is higher when a watch is lying flat and usually falls when the watch is in a vertical position, due to increased friction. Amplitude can also fall as the watch winds down and the mainspring delivers less power. Amplitude is a good indicator of the movements health and if is too high or too low, or that changes too much in different positions, can indicate a problem with the movement. great : 270-310 acceptable : 250-270 If higher / lower? Ask for a different watch or have your watch serviced Beat Error The amount of time by which the duration of swing differs from one side to the other in the oscillation of a balance wheel. Generally speaking to get a beat error of zero, the roller jewel in the pallet fork must be perfectly centered. great : 0.0-0.5 ms acceptable : 0.6-1 ms If higher? Ask for a different watch or have your watch serviced. * Please note that if you are reading your QC from the dealer, you will generally receive only the results of the watch lying flat. All the above recommended measurements are from that position. The measurements in other positions may vary
  2. See that autowind bridge wheel on the standard 2824-2 Etachoc movement - 8 holes. This is what I was talking about. But I still vote gen.
  3. Absolutely. The only problem with the so called "clone" movements is the quality control, so, for me, a serviced 2824-2 Seagull or Hangzhou is as good as any ETA. period.
  4. Generally speaking if the amplitude in a rep is between 270 and 310 there is nothing to worry about. The closer to 300 the better, though. Am I wrong?
  5. Ha! http://www.rwg.cc/topic/143914-etachoc-and-incabloc-shock-system/
  6. Hmmm... Very hard to tell, because the images are so grainy. I guess you can not take a better pic or to show the movement from the other side or even the date wheel font? Anyway it looks legit, my only concern would be this: If it's a standard grade ETA 2824-2 with Etachoc why is it "gold plated" (never seen one, except one time on ebay and I wasn't sure of its authenticity). Also as far as it can be seen from the images there are 4 holes on the autowind bridge wheel instead of 8. On the other hand everything else looks fine. At the end of the day, if it's so hard to tell and Gran says it's gen, I say dahell with it - I vote gen as well.
  7. I'd suggest searching for a Hublot you like on TD's sites and posting a question about a specific watch in the Other Brands Area. Many Hublot owners are lurking there. This way it will be easier for every one to answer you. Many Hublots come with an Asian 7750 movement so it may be a good start, note the price though. Search for "Hublot" in Other Brands Area. PS as for notificatons - just click the "follow this topic" button at the top right.
  8. I'm not so sure. Looks ETA, but could be a Hangzhou. It's definitely not a Seagull. Closups on the balance wheel shape, a macro on the ETA logo and a close up from the other side of the movement will reveal which is it. Personally I actually think it could be Hangzhou because of these parts, but don't take my word for it:
  9. Silix is trusted, the watch is a low end rep. No surprise the price is low. Personally, I wouldn't buy it. I'm all for buying as cheap as possible, but one should remember that reps are of a lower quality by their nature, so low end reps may end up in the trash bin sooner than you expect. my 0.0000000000002 cents
  10. Gee, thanks guys, so much useful information here! LOL J/K thanks for everyone who tried to help. Still have no idea if the crown is similar to the gen, but I OK'ed the watch anyway. Hope it's good.
  11. I can help with the Omega, although you should note I'm not a native English speaker and my availability is uneven as well. In any case I'd suggest having a few forumites per guide so in case one drops the ball the others can continue. Plus it could be a fun collaborative experience. Apropos, the IWC guide need urgent update as well. SD4K anyone?!
  12. You forgot to install the crystal!
  13. Muhaha!!! (how can I triple-like a post?! there should be an option like that. Mods, help!)
  14. Can't believe I forgot about the 3717. Definitely one of the best. It's not one of my favorites, from the design point of view, but it's so popular and very accurate. Thanks Andy. Lange Datograph? Really? I'd definitely consider it. Wish I knew that before I ordered the 288. Not much of a Panerai aficionado, so I'm not raising my hopes too high in respect of keeping it, but you never know and the watch I saw at AD's looked and felt wonderful. I just wish the rep would be of the same quality.
  15. I wish they did something with the pearl and the he valve, but you're right the "One Full!!!! Year in the making!!!!!!!!!!!! 1:1 V1 as per gen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all red italic font" 8500 rep is probably upon us. Bummer.
  16. Hey, what's that?!... Nice watch. It's Astra cal. 667 . Hard to tell without seeing the movement, but it maybe as early as circa 1975 (six point star logo is also a hint). On the movement there is an indicator of what movement it is: 667.10 / 667.20 etc., - the lower - the earlier I bet it still works, isn't it? Very durable watch.
  17. I think I went blind from the glow.
  18. Thanks Kal, the Carrera does look nice. A really good option indeed, especially with the white dial. Reminds me of Ebel. I'm actually going for the 288. It kinda grew on me and in any case I wanted one bulky watch. Tried it at the AD shop and liked it a lot.
  19. I was actually kinda hoping they would have a run with the old(er) UPO. Solve it's problems and have it up to the 42's standards.
  20. Got it. Seen that watch the other day at AD shop. The dial is amazing, as well as the movement. If they will try to replicate this I'm definitely not holding my breath. Putting open case aside (a big no no. no way to rep the co-axial anyway), the dial will be very difficult to replicate. I don't know what omega did with that watch, high end polish or special metals or whatever, but I've never seen an Omega with such a high quality dial and bezel. It will take many many rounds of production to get it right, if it's even possible.
  21. Really wierd. Is it permanent? Some Langes are supposed to be wound from behind( 31) but with a special key, not like this. Maybe it's because some women tend to wear their watches more loosely, so the crown doesn't bother them?
  22. Guys, is this pam's crown looks good? Something I need to know in general?
