Hi - keen to hear feedback on the best valued leather strap for ~$100.
I currently have an Asso but looking for something softer but not too thick / chunky.
Cheers

Hi, the bracelet on my genuine sub from the mid 90s is getting pretty beaten up and loose. The idea is that I will buy a rep sub for "transplant"... So the question is, are most bracelet in similar quality? If so, assume I just pick up the cheapest version from one of the dealers... I am not a hardcore purist so will be happy with a solid end piece from the modern sub (mine is hollow). So whats your view? Which sub and from whom do you recommend? and how much?
Cheers

I propose that everyone buys a watch from Eddie and make Eddie's dream come true.
-
I can confirm that Lowu is not a very good place for rep watches. There are heaps there, but not very high quality ones. Cheers

I am sure TTK has some pretty accurate Oris rep, it was either the TT1 Divers or F1 Williams. Drop TTK a line.

Just to jump on this *sizing* bandwagon, how does the size of the 45mm Radiomir (ie 183 blackseal) compare to the 44mm base size (ie 111 or 005)?
Does the 45mm look bigger/smaller on wrists? Anyone with a wristshot of both to compare?
Thanks

I don't see how there could be a "watch monopoly" or cartel when I can go buy a timex for $40 bucks; or a random mechanical invicta, etc for (just guessing) $400. If people want to pay $4000, but something with the same function is available for less money, then that just seem's like a person's perogative to spend their money as they personally see fit. Obviously someone buying a luxury watch wants to pay the money, else they would get a cheap watch with the same functionality.
It would be different if all oil companys got together and collectively decided to set prices on something we can't get anywhere else and need. Oh wait... that happened.
Agree.
Imagine a perfect world in fairlyland where Rolex and Panerai sell their watches at costs, lets say $200, would you still buy a rolex or Panerai and wear it with such a large smile on your face? No, you'll be drooling over that Timex that is all over magazines and sells for $10,000.
Common guys, we wear reps because we like the watch and for one reason or another we don't want to spend a whole lot of cash on a watch, its not because you hate Rolex or you hate your government.... that is so lame.
just my 2 cent =)

Nice, thanks TT!
Like you said, the strap is very nice.
I wonder how the FA Jones will look on pilot strap? Or should I just go with the more dressy gator strap>?
-
@TT - Nice watch! Can you please comment on the quality of the clasp and maybe even some pics? Also, what size strap does it take?
I am looking to buy a new strap for my IWC and was thinking of getting a generic butterfly clasp or maybe the one on your IWC. I think the clasp for the genuine IWC is like about $200 bucks!
Thanks in advance.
-
Nice. What's the strap size of the Jones?
22mm

Deleted, maybe I am too harsh and too passionate about this watch.
-
Yes. This watch fools no one.
Statement like this makes you look like an idiot. Who are you trying to fool?
Can't you just accept that it is a nice watch? If you think it is not good enough for you, shut up, don't buy it and don't ruin it for the rest of us.

And if I am not mistaken... The dial should be silver and not white! Correct me if I am wroing.
The dial on the genuine SS and RG models are both white.
Haven't seen the platium version in real life so I can't commen.

@sye46 - Very nice straps! Are those straps you have the genesis IIs? I thought they don't make them in 22mm. Or are they custom made? I have been eyeing them for a long time.
-
Any other recommendation for <$100?
Thanks
-
I think I've read somewhere that the watch is about $200k, could be wrong.
-
Hi everyone, I am looking for a nice 22mm aligator strap for my IWC and/or other watches I own. Anyone know of any strap dealers selling quality gator straps for less than $100, possible <$70.
I am looking for something dressy and not the pam style types.
Thanks

The solid gold gen is about 20k i think =)
The price difference movement is prob $100 bucks difference.
Bloody nice watch but a little out of my price range also.
-
I think we are talking about $1500+ here guys.

I've just received the SS blue hands FA Jones 10 mins ago. Looks just like the pics, no funny business here.... the problem is.... its too big for me!!!
Make no mistakes guys, this watch is massive! I've just measured it, it is 43mm and lungs 22mm... but due to the fact that the crystal is so big, it makes it look much bigger than it is. I've got a speedy pro and thats 42-43mm but this looks so much bigger!
Very very nice watch... hands are nice and dark, movement on back is nicely decorated and even the clasp is pretty good quality, a nice thick solid piece.
Any questions, just shoot me.

I should get mine today. Will report back when I do.
Does the water dropplet test work? I thought the only way to test to see if it is sapphire is to do a scratch test?
-
@watchgrl - you have a nice collection there! That diamond rolex must have costed you a pretty penny.
Can you comment on how the fake diamonds compare to the real thing? Can you tell?
Thanks

I rarely understand his posts anyway.
I thought I was the only one? =)

With all due respect ... [censored]. Nobody ever deserves to get scammed. The entire mission of this forum is to stop people getting scammed, for instance.
If you buy an expensive watch over the net, you have to do your research. I thought this was common sense?
Calling 183 experts - gen or rep?
in The Panerai Area

Hi - found the following 183 on ebay. Is it a Rep or Gen?
The "A's" look rep to my untrained eyes. Sorry for bad photos, this is all I have. Thanks
