  1. I am seriously considering buying Joshes Datejust II 2 tone with white face and stick markers but am concerned that the "triple wrapped .5mill gold" is not up to snuff. How good do these rep bracelets look compared to gen? I imagine they all come out of same factory in the rep world but curious about look, feel, and weight. Any insights would be appreciated. Also concerned as this watch has no white face on the 2 tone. Anyone have a good watch recommendation for this bracelet in the rep world with light face that is not a sub? Thanks!

  2. Guys:

It's been a year since I have ventured in these parts but my LV lost its pearl. Rather than replacing this, the watch has taken a beating due to homespun mods, out of control machining devices etc.

Anyone know if these have improved in the last year. Looking to get a good one out of the box and not having to do mods since i screw these up. Thanks!!

Also, it appears the websites have all changed or disapeared from my old "favorites" that I had. Where is Josh and Andrew and Paul???

  3. I live in AZ and the heat can be murder on watches and glued parts if left in the car in the sun. I experienced this first hand as my Ultimate PO was left in my luggage in the trunk. I noticed the bezel insert was seperating on one pint and it will fall off.

Whats the best substance to secure and any tips on applying?

  4. Just had a long visit with an AD in Vegas today. They had an LV that I was able to try on and told me there is no longer a waiting list as Rolex is keeping them in production and was never a "limited" edition watch. Se did point out thet the GMT Pepsi was not going to be produced anymore. The watch was at "The Watch Shop" in TI (Treasre Island)

This news made me step back as I always thought the LV was a limited watch. Now I am tempted to get gen "pepsi"

    Any thoughts?

  5. Guys:

I have 3 rep LVs and the bezel colors are all the same. This week, I saw a LV on a VERY wealthy man that I highly doubt would ever wear a rep. The problem is that it seems the watch has a much brighter, or lighter green, almost florescent.

My delima is I trust this is a gen and I have never seen one at an AD. The photos of real VS. rep on the sights don't see, to show a difference in bezel color and it is never discussed as a necessary mod (always the CGs or rehaut)

Can anyone comment if they think the rep bezel is not accurate? I have a Paul and Andrew rep and another. They all have the identical green color (dark green)

  6. Saw ladies YM mentioned. However, I bought my wife one from one of the popular dealers and was disappointed that the "Rolisium" dial is awful. The real SS version of this watch only comes with the platinum dial and their copy of this dial is not near accurate as it is more of a tannish hue and why they cant replicate the more silver color of the pltinum is beyond me.

If anyone is aware of a SS ladies yachtmaster with the correct dial, let me know.

I should ask. Is there any source of more accurate ladies dials for these???

  7. The Helium valve on the Ultimate PO is not a valve at all. It is simply a small crown with the HE stamped on it attached to a metal post that pokes throught to the inside of the watch and is crimped so it does not slide back out. It has no threads so it will never be tighter and because it goes inside the watch, it actually provides a water entry point to the inside the watch if you go swimming with it.

    Usil

Thanks Usil. That is what I needed to know. With this enlightenment, what is the best way to seal or lock this baby so there is no seapage to case??

  8. Has anyone explored their UPO and removed movement? The reason I ask is I am curious if the HE valve opening actually even penetrates the caseback.

On my UPO from Josh the HE valve screws but does not really tighten (as if it just hits the steel end of a hole that is drilled and threaded).

By the way I love this watch as it has become my "everyday banger". Since I live in Scottsdale I spend alot of time in the pools in the summer (120 degrees in the shade) and want to waterproof.

  9. Do watches have prolonged or shortened life living in a winder? I like the idea of not having to constantly dink with movement but was wondering if there is a finite life on all movements that is shortened due to winders?

Just got an 8 watch wainder from Acetime and I love the concept but did not know if it was also good for the watches...

  10. Robert: What style wood did you order.

JJFlash: You seem to indicate a less than confident attitude toward this winder. Is it all winders in general or ones from Acetimer?? Please expand.

  11. Just received my 8 watch winder from Acetimer.com. They do not have it on their site yet so you have to order via contact. Comes in Burlwood or Rosewood. Many thanks to Blackrain as his review inspired me to purchase. I have attached link to that review here:

It is the best investment I have made in the rep world yet bar none. $199 (plus 25 ups 2 day shipping). My wife exploded when she saw it as she thought I spent over 1K. Probably the best piece of furniture we have in the house!

    Enjoy pics.

  12. Stay away from any watch that is gold on gen. Weight will give it away. I got wife a ss yachtmaster from Josh but was very disappointed as it seems no dealer can replicate the platinum dial (lloked creamy gray). I would recommend watch below as gen is SS and gen is quartz movement. I git for wife and she is looking forward to receiving.

Gen costs abot 8K so not out of hand gen price for peers who know what the watch cost for real. that pearlmaster masterpiece aboce is white gold in gen and cost about 17K

  13. I love the UPO as I have black bezel with white numbers. I just got SMP, so cannot indicate which "gets more time" I think I will end up wearing the SMP more with suites and the UPO more as sport watch with short sleeves or casual. (belive me this thing stands out).

My belief is that if you want it to stand out you might want UPO with the black bezel and orange numbers.

  14. Got SMP from Josh and was concerned it would not have 3:00 markers but was pleasently surprised it was there. Watch is very good quality and all that was advertised. I also ordered waterpoofing service for $50.

My only issue was that the bracelet was a bear to size. Should be easy with screws, right? Wrong! I could not get them to budge. After extended efforts and breaking 3 tools, I took to my watch guy and we had to cut through last full link on each end to remove. The screws at clasp were easy to move but the "inner" screws seemed locked. My advice is for you not to attempt unless you have driver that can generate enough torque without stripping (as I did).

The next mod I did was to get out the dremmel and apply a brush finish to the outer edge of the braclet to match gen ( this rep comes with polished ends which is inaccurate).

I will perform pearl alignmet mod later via heating the bezel insert and "sliding" to proper position. I understand these new bezels are difficult to remove and I do not want to screw up the watch. The only other issue with watch is that it has a longer crown than gen. Either that or gen has higher crown guards.

HE valve is locked tight so I am hoping waterproofing and testing was successful. I will find out soon enough.

All in all I am very pleased with quality and service. I think it looks great. Enjoy face pics!
