*Bump*
Anyone get one of these. I see these posts are almost a year old and am wondering if anyone got one and how its running?
I see the price is still $888 though, but I may go for it, if it would be possible to get perhaps 2 more links brushed and added on (I have 8" wrist and have read they're tight)
Cheers
I got one and I'm very pleased with it. It runs very well, gaining about a second a day, with no problems whatsoever. I've had the crystal double-AR coated (it comes with a light AR coat), relumed and the subdial hands painted black. It's my favourite watch now.

Forgot to mention, the watch is my most accurate timekeeper. Well within COSC regulations, gaining about a second a day.

Hi Rob:
Where are you getting all this work done? I am consdering the swiss special edition from Joshua as well. Also, how do you like the watch (if you've worn it much yet?)
The Zigmeister relumed it and painted the subdial hands black. He also removed the light AR coating that the crystal had, so that Chieftang could get it double AR coated. The watch is now back with me after this work and to my eyes looks stunning! The double AR makes a big difference. I wear on with the high quality croco-leather deployant strap that Joshua and others sell. It's my favourite watch, although I do tend to alternate it with my Chopard or my Ferrari 008 - but today is a Navitimer day
-
does it have bubble sapp? or standard rep navi flat/slightly domed sapphire?
i have a gen cal.13 and gen serie speciale crown. ;-)
Mine has a slightly domed crystal just like my Steelfish which is also slightly domed, but unlike the Bentley GT I have which has a perfectly flat crystal. I've had my Navitimer double AR coated, relumed and the subdial hands painted black. It looks stunning!

How is the quality and finish of the clasp? Does it fit well and comfortable on the wrist?
I think the clasp is very good, and it's very comfortable on my wrist

I fell in love with this watch but I just can't get over the jerky seconds hand; wtf!!!
Yes the gen also has this problem but supposedly it is not as pronounced, and furthermore not many have seen the gen so I am sure people will assume that their is either someting wrong with this watch or it is a fake...
Anyone sent theirs to The Zigmeister to fix the choppy hand yet? I know he has recieved one for servicing but mentioned that the hand was pretty smooth to begin with.
It was my watch that The Zigmeister looked at. The main reason for sending it to him was for a full service and relume - with that much lume real estate this thing now lights up a room if it has just been recharged! I'm not sure that the 'choppy' seconds hand was changed much by The Zigmeister - it's still noticeable if you look closely, but then so were the seconds hands on the two gens that I've looked at. To be perfectly honest I don't care whether people think this is a gen or a fake, but if this is a big concern of your's its probably best to save up your pennies and go for the real thing. I do know that this is the only watch I own that complete strangers have complimented me about, and I love to look at it as it's such a wonderful design.

I didn't notice any problems,
That's good news

Ah, FYI, I won't accept Navitimer crystals anymore unless you (or someone) has stripped the existing light AR coat that's already on them. If not stripped, the crystal will turn yellow when coated by my company. We've learned this the hard way already. I've done the stripping on a few of these myself, and while it's not terribly difficult, it's not a service I will offer.
Were there any problems with Navitimer crystals in Run 3?

Thanks for the comments guys, most helpful.

Has anyone compared how the AR coating on the current Ferrari reps (the 008 in particular) compare with gen watches? I'm trying to decide whether I should go for AR coating on my rep. Although it is obvious that the Ferrari has fairly good AR it isn't in the same league as the (ultimate) Chopard and nowhere near as good as the Steelfish. Is the AR on the gen especially strong?

That's great news! Looks like this is moving a lot closer to the top of my list. Thanks...
It's a fabulous watch, and the only rep that I own which has received compliments from total strangers. It's very distinctive, sporty and elegant, all at the same time.

I love the white face in this watch, but if I recall correctly, the white face gen comes only in a solid, decorated caseback. I believe the display back is only on the black model. Looks amazingly accurate on the wrist, however, and is one of the best looking white faced watches out there IMHO...
Congrats...
No, the white face GT XL also comes with a display back. I tried one on in an AD recently - really couldn't tell any significant difference between my rep and the gen

I bought the rollerball version of this pen. Very nice, but the gen replacement cartridges don't fit my version. They are very close, but slightly too long. I might try to shorten it a bit with a knife to see if I can squeeze it in.

Won't that Navitimer have the sunken datewheel? For me that's an obvious problem which is why I went for the Serie Speciale with subdials at 12,9, 6 and no sunken datewheel.

Two crystals for me in the next available double-AR run. Thanks very much!

I've been waiting for a 42mm B&R watch to appear, like many other people I guess. Joshua has just stuck one up on his website, a BR 03-97 model, with date and a power reserve. I can't see this model on the B&R website - is it a fantasy watch?
-
very nice indeed! but at this point you really should install a gen seriespeciale dial before the caseback is sourced... i used to have one.. long gone now.. but they do exist! happy hunting!
I'll keep looking, but no luck so far. I forgot to mention the movement is a gen eta 7750. Keeps excellent time (gains less than one second a day). It's probably my favourite watch, and I can't wait to get it back with its mods
-
no only is the spelling incorrect the gen seriespeciale is BRUSHED. alot of mods to make this one right... also the crystal is more of a bubble/domed unit than the standard navi's. be happy with the incorrect spelling and DONT take it off your wrist silly!!!
My Serie Speciale is already brushed (it was a special edition from Joshua), and is currently getting double AR coated, relumed and the subdial hands painted black.

The HBB makers may well be playing with a gen right now...
So I heard. It's a striking watch, but maybe not to everyone's taste?
-
The best way to relume the pearl, is from below, which requires the bezel be removed...on the majority of watches, the bezel is impossible to remove or too risky to remove without damaging it.
Can the bezel on the Steelfish be removed to allow access to the pearl from underneath?
-
We've got a Steelfish super-rep, so continuing that theme what about a Swordfish?
-
Very true, well i bet you wont sell that The Zigmeister lumed one, wear it with pride in a dark room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nope, that one's a keeper!
-
Hat off to that man, quality work with quality material, you gona get the other one done now as well?
One day I will, but I have a couple of other watches that I'd like to get serviced/re-lumed first. Might have to sell a few of my cheaper reps to afford The Zigmeister's fees, but that will be OK as I've come to the view that a small number of well serviced 'super-reps' is a much better idea than a display case full of cheaper watches with dry movements.
-
Big difference there i would say, is that the eta version as well?
Yes, both watches have eta movements. When I got them I was very impressed with the quality of the lume (my first experience of the 'super-reps'), but then when I got the re-lumed watch back from The Zigmeister I was amazed by how bright the lume was! Not only is it brighter, but the glow also lasts more or less all night.

Bump to see if there is any news of this watch being repped. Saw one in the flesh for the first time yesterday. A large, imposing watch. I'd love to get one
