  1. Well considering this confrontation took place in a gym, I assume both you and your advisary are to good muscular shape, I'm surprised this didn't end with fists :D

Actually good story...but you know what some people are stubborn and can't be lead to the promised land. Hell if I spent $900 on a rep, which I almost did before stumbling on to this board, I too would be defensive to know that I got taken.

Next time you see him shut him up by showing him all of the nice watches you have that totaled his one for $900.

nah im not that confrontational...i was trying to educate the guy...maybe next time ill wear one of my pannies and see what he says..lol

  2. so I was working out today and a guy asked me to work in the machine I was using. I noticed him looking at my joe modded sub, and he was wearing an ss sub also. He commented "nice watch" to which i kindly replied thanks, and commented on his. Then he asked me to take the watch off so he could get a better look. I did, and he compaired mine to his. He said " yea mine is a rep and you cant even tell the difference" i replied that mine was also a rep. He perked up said that he got his on idealwatches for only $900, what a great deal, when its so close to gen, right" I told him that I paid only 200 for mine from a dealer plus the price of mods. Then he said...no, what you have is actually a cheap japanese movement, still nice, but not as good as his ETA. I assured him that mine was also an ETA and in fact serviced and waterproofed.. He refused to believe me and said that I was scammed. I then expalined to him the truth about idealwatches and that actually HE was scammed. He became upset and kept insisting that these "private dealers" were all scam artists that sell inferior quality under the guise of selling a good product and I din't really have a A++ quality rep. I insisted that he should visit this forum to learn the truth, but he was adamant that his rep was superior and he could fool any jeweler. When i showed him the flaws his had with a bad pearl, solid links, and fat crown gaurds he didnt believe me and said " all i know is that you get what you pay for and i paid for a perfect replica"....I guess some people cant be convinced. It upsets me to know that unscrupulous sites like idealwatched scam people all the time, making huge money off of replica lovers, and they are ignorant to the fact that they have been scammed. We really should do something to shut down these scammers.

  3. I know its selfish, but I kinda like that we have an "exclusive" window with dealers and access to good info on reps. Not everyone is willing to spend $600 on a rep, but if everyone knew the truth, more people would be wearing good reps, making responses like "wow that a rep, I cant believe it" more rare, which makes our reps more believable and "exclusive" since most rep wearers will have a cheap asian crap rep. This is exactly the opposite point of reps, i know.

  4. Oh, I see - you really didn't want to know where his POS came from so you could buy one for yourself - in truth, you were going to steer him to where he could get a better one.

That makes perfect sense, but the only problem I have is, why didn't you tell us that to begin with? Why try to sell us on the [censored] story first?

In other words Dude, you wanted to be a bully and slap this poor kid around who never did anything to you, force him to admit that he was full of [censored], acknowledge his efforts to lie, and admit the truth . . .

To have some total stranger you never did anything to put you in that position really sucks doesn't it?

    Bill

I really WAS curious to see where he got it. PLUS, its not such a big deal, I didnt really call his watch a POS, I intended to direct him to better reps was truly my intent.....

  5. To me, this speaks of ignorance, immaturity, and inexperience.

Once a person takes a position, to think you are going to get them to reverse direction and "fess up" is just plain nutz - I wouldn't, you wouldn't, nobody would. I fail to see the point - and this "I just want to get one for myself" [censored] is an insult to everyone's intelligence.

In other words - I am calling you out. You've taken a [censored] position, it won't stand scrutiny, but are you going to reverse direction, admit that your "I just wanted to know which [censored] purveyor of cheap garbage you bought that from so I could buy one for myself," nonsense is nothing more than airhead rhetoric?

C'mon Dude - fess up - nobody familiar with this forum needs leads from some poor schmuck wearing a cheap fake that can be spotted across the room. Admit it - you just wanted to show off, embarass the poor bastard as a way to stroke your own ego, which is exactly why you are sharing this pitiful story with us here today.

Sorry Dude, but I see nothing laudible about embarrassing some poor kid just because you can.

This "calling people out" [censored] is incredibly childish.

    Bill

I dont think so, I would really check where he got the rep. Plus, I ultimately asked the question so he could say, "yea its a fake" then direct him here.

  6. today i was at the t-mobile store and they guy helping me had a pretty bad rollie GMP pepsi on. Small misalighned date, horrible dial. Anyway, I wanted to know where he got it so maybe I could check to see if they have any decent reps. I asked "where did you get the watch" He replied: Graduation gift from my Dad. I replied, no man really, I dont care, I just want to get one myself. He replied " Its a gift, my Dad got it from Mayors. Then I replied, No, its fake, I can easily tell. He got defensive and said, no, I have the papers and serial and box, and I got it checked by a AD! Its not fake!! Its worth about 5 grand!! I can show you the box, and papers, come back tomorrow!!.. I was like.. whoa, take it easy man. I just wanted to get one for myself. Then he said, well go there and shell out a few grand (pointing to the AD in the mall) I leaft it at that and dropped the topic. Geez, if you want your rep to pass as gen at least get a good one.

  7. Guys, I noticed some oyster bracelets on datejusts are polished center links, and the new T-O-G has polished center links, but look more close to the daytona bracelet rather than oyster . Is this suppose to be white gold? Can one be fitted onto a datejust? I might be looking for this bracelet to replace a bracelet on a datejust with regulat oyster. If the TOG could fit, that would be ideal, because of the fliplock, but if its suppose to be WG, then thats a negative, because SS is so much lighter.
