  1. Fantastic, makes such a big difference, sad they don't do this anymore
  2. Ok, I think I've decided on the Nautilus for now, a RO much later. I see that the dealers have 2 different versions. 1 is an MBW version with closed caseback but the date window seems to be clear to the middle. Whereas there a NOOB (?) version that has an open caseback with the stuck-on logo on the rotor but a closer to gen location of date..... so which is a better version? Leaning towards the MBW.
  3. Apart from DW, who sells Tudor Monte Carlo caseset, dials and hands?
  4. Man, I keep going back and forth on both of these. When I decide on a nautilus someone post their RO and I change my mind again!
  5. Wow..... am I even more confused now! I think the only thing I can take away from this is that both of them are great in their own right although the general consensus is the Nautilus may be a better buy.
  6. Which do you guys prefer/ what should I get, and which is more accurate out of the box?
  7. I get what they are doing, I just don't think it's funny (it's a little lame). I head to BKK around 3-4 times a year, there's more to the country than prostitutes and cheap knockoffs, although to most foreigners that is what they are famous for. It's like when people talk about Canal Street in NY, they talk about cheap, fake wallets and bags.
  8. I don't get it...... so he is going on some forums and posting names/ address of modders and watchsmiths? So? this hobby gets more and more exciting everyday..... because..... like the sands of time... these are the days of our lives...
  9. Now.... if that movement finds it's way into a vintage PN maybe? lol.....
  10. So, back on topic. What reps should I get from MBK? Maybe a nautilus? or a vintage rol?
  11. You paid 6 bucks for a RL polo? You got had......
  12. Heading to Bangkok next week. Gonna head to MBK, don't really need a watch, but since I'm gonna be there, why not. So fellas.... what should I get?
  13. Well, seeing that it's just crazy trying to get a Date wheel for the Valjoux 7734 let alone one that has the correct font for the 7032, I took it upon myself to try to replicate it with a DWO. Here's a pic of the fonts so far which have been done by tracing over each number..... WIll have to wait for my 7034 to come in before I can get any form of dimensioning for these. Do notice that similar to the gen, each number font is slightly different.
  14. Actually a picture of the datewheel will do and I'll get the rest done.
  15. Hi, Did anyone manage to get these off the ground? I am willing to take up the challenge if no one has already but I need the artwork from someone if they already have it?
  16. um.... hope you guys are kidding about the epoxy...... if you get slimeball hands, you'll need to crimp the tube. I don't recommend you do this if you aren't a watchsmith. It requires alot of crimping because the tube is just too large.
  17. Fawk me dead.... at that price I can get a couple of cases fully CNCed out as samples and still make some money.
  18. Looking for a good replacement crown for a daytona build. Looking for a 0.9mm threaded one for an A7750. TIA
  19. I have UV and GS, I was just stumped at the use of CA on crystal. Never seen that Gorilla Glue here, wonder what it is? Anyways gonna UV it
  20. So you used CA/ Superglue on the crystal?....
  21. So, I'm working on a Daytona build from DW. The crystal is very loose, the bezel is also just fitted over the crystal. Question is do I glue the crystal and bezel in place? I don't see any other way.
  22. Well, gonna try to keep it short for now. This watch was given to me by a great friend of mine who passed away. It has been sitting in a pouch for more than 10 years. I took it out recently and just had a cursory look at it. First look was it was DOA. Watch was a cheap rep with EVERYTHING wrong going for it. So I thought why don't we just make the best of this, get it up and running just as a remembrance of our friendship? But of course these things never work out the way we plan... Watch is stripped down Picture showing chrome already pitting and oxidation coming through. GMT bezel on a sub dial..... First decided to just clean up the chrome and have a brass sub. After I removed the chrome, tried to install the glass, it cracks (cheap mineral). So I thought, hmm.... always liked a tropic superdome, so ordered one from Clarks. Then reshaped the case as best I could, refinished and polished. Tried to get the watch running but it didn't want to, so stripped the movement, cleaned it and re-oiled. Missing lume on seconds hand started pissing me off, so decided to re-lume the entire dial and hands with vintage lume from Holio. Couldn't remove the lume on the dial, so had to apply over it, but it didn't take nicely to the new lume, so it was a tough task as I also wanted to get the lume to dome. All in all, case reshaped, and cleaned of chrome, new red bezel insert, new tube gasket, new CB O-ring, new 7mm tall tropic superdome form Clark, vintage relumed hands and dials, serviced movement, new nylon nato. As you can see, there is always something that can be done to even a cheap 10dollar bad rep and come up with something interesting and unique. I think it will look amazing with a black leather nato, which is my next purchase for this. More pictures later but for now, Kevin lives on: Waiting for natural patina to set in especially on bezel.
