  1. Make sure the movement is fixed into the case with the case screws/ tabs. Sounds like the movement is loose and when you push in the stem it moves the movement and causes something to rub and stop.
  2. No, the idea is to reuse the existing movement and dial, then use a spacer ring on the chapter ring to lower the movement. Yes you will need to re-drill a new hole. The idea being that you redrill a much larger hole, but lowered to the centre of the CG. Question is whether movement will still fit and not hit the CB
  3. So, the biggest thing that bugs me about the APRO @12 are the crowns that are too high. So I was thinking if I did a spacer ring for the chapter ring, a new tube and movement ring, is there any interest in something like this? Naturally you will need to find someone to drill the new hole for the crown tube. The idea is to have a much bigger diameter opening that is offset from the original location and encompassing the current hole but centred lower, and commissioning a new larger diameter crown tube that will fit inside the new hole. I'm not sure whether there is enough space inside the case for the movement to sit lower, I'm assuming the caseback should be able to accommodate this. Maybe one of the modders can chime in on this?
  4. Where can I get the WM9 bezel?? Looks good to me
  5. Currently which is the best sub bezel insert available? Thinking green for a TC build
  6. So what are the flaws on this beauty? Considering getting one, looks awesome.
  7. The US Marines 'rolex' model is 100%, without question a fake fantasy watch. I even know the guys who were being it ..... Talking about rare, and fantasy watches, you can't get away with using a 'trademark' on a similar product. Which is where the world of homages comes in. Check out something like this for rare and homage: http://oceanictime.blogspot.sg/2013/02/anitqua-dss-1953-prototype.html
  8. Yeah, I looked at the montoya RG again and it's a beautiful watch. I don't think I can actually come to terms with cracking that open and swapping it out because it looks perfect to me as it is. The blue/ Platinum however...... The strap does bother me some, but I'm thinking of swapping that thing out to a black horn with blue stitch. That should set things off some....
  9. I think we are confusing prices here.... I assume that TC's 130USD is the price he gets the movements direct from the manufacturer? In which case, an ST2100 goes for around 45USD and a Sellita SW200 go for around USD120. Naturally if you are buying after market, it's a whole different ballgame.
  10. Um..... if the ST2100 cost that much, there would be alot of watch brands out of business....... Damn, I should be selling movements and make a killing!! But yes, if these TC2824s are USD130, that's more expensive than a Sellita SW200 as well. Will still be interesting when it was released, but frankly there isn't anything on there that I can see that makes it any better than a ST2100, that's leaving aside the likeness to the ETA2824.
  11. I think a comparison should be made between this "TC2824" to say a Seagull ST2130 AA grade. If this movement is going to be 130USD, I'm not sure it's justified.
  12. Hi Mike, I frankly don't know, getting my money back wasn't my intention at all. Sure I understand that we are all trying to build our fantasy watches for a fraction of the cost, and that was what I was planning. So I had not planned for parts that I had ordered to not be what I had paid for. Up till now my focus was to complete the watch, not get money back. As you have said, we are searching for really rare parts, so all my energy has been on finding these parts. I had not bargained on receiving parts that did not fit the description when I purchased them, which was the intention of my post. Your previous post sums up what I had thought, which was that all of us get so fixated with the end result that we gladly just accept parts that are not up to mark, and dismiss it as a gamble so we can move on to the next part and so on. This is something I need to understand further, because it's a really baffling mindset for me.
  13. Like I said from the start, and seem to have to re-iterate here, I can accept some of the flaws as being over-sights, or 'poor' workmanship. BUT: 1) Hands that do not fit the movement it was advertised to fit, does not mean it's poorly made.... it's the wrong set of hands 2) Dials that have ink running through centre of the area and subdials that are scratched is not poorly made.... it's damaged. And I am not implying that it was sold intentionally as such, but it can't be excused as 'well, it's cheap what do you expect' 3) Crown that does not fit an A7750 movement at all is again not as advertised. IF it was sold as a case, without a crown, or Case with a crown that does not fit an A7750, then that's a different issue. I felt that DH had stuff left over from the DW deal, and wanted to get rid of them to re-coup some capital. I emphatise with DH, but selling an item at a lost or at cost, is no reason to be dishonest and reject responsibility. If I didn't name DH in this thread, I do not know what the outcome would have been. as at that time communication via PM had already broken down. If these were sold as a parts bin/ leftover/ partically perfect, I may have not proceeded with the sale. But I can't say this with certainty. I can only say that after buying and finding out that there were parts that did not fit and in my view some were damaged, contacting the seller and getting a "welcome to the world of watch reps" as a reply wasn't exactly the answer I was after. Through this whole ordeal, I had NEVER asked for a refund, I would have gladly settled for an apology for an oversight, then sending me replacement parts that I ordered originally.
  14. Seller is Denimhead, introduced himself as the european/ UK agent for DW parts...... nothing to hide, not trying to pick a fight, he can come on here and defend himself if he wants but I doubt he will, if called upon I'll show pics, now I'm just trying to get it working, off to find myself a crown that fits.
  15. Holy fawk, now I realise that the bezel markings don't line up with the dial. So either the markings are wrong or the dial is not printed correctly. And from a brief examination, it's the bezel that is etched wrongly.... wtf. So it seems like I got sent defective/ rejected parts. The last communication I had with the seller was the typical "only you have this problem" and "no one else has ever complained". Why do I not name him, and why am I protecting the seller? I don't know, I'm starting to feel that I should so he does not scam others on this forum.
  16. Hi Freddy, Who would you recommend? I don't see any dealers selling parts.
  17. Hi folks, Searched but couldn't find any information. I need to buy a 6mm small crown for my cosmograph build to fit an A7750 movement stem. Threading needs to M0.9mm. Thanks
  18. I'm not in the name names business. I am trying to believe that people in general are not evil, but heck I still have the feeling that I got fleeced. Especially after the last round of messages we have exchanged. Here is the history: Purchased a caseset, dial and handset suitable for an A7750. Received: 1) Case with scratched acrylic. 2) Dial with scratched subdial. 3) Hands scratched, and too loose for movement. Centre seconds had to be broached so aggressively that I don't think it's going to stay crimped and anymore and the tube would crack. 4) Crown that does not fit the stem. So I have, polished the acrylic and buffed out the scratched (they were internal), painted the scratches off the hands the best I can, broached the hands. But the worse now being that the crown still doesn't fit and there is nothing I can do about that. I purchased off the for sale forum here, it was advertised as new. When I approached the seller about these issues, all I received was, "its $200.00 not $2000.00 worth of Phong case. Sorry but your clearly deluded about the World of Rep parts. Yes it can be very frudtraiting but that is what's involved when you're trying to create a $35,000.00 with $200.00" (his words not mine). My stand has always been, I can close my eyes and pretend that scratches/ loose/ poor fitting is all part of the 'charm' of buying parts for reps, but parts that I paid money for that do not EVEN FIT and are obviously not what they were advertised to be, then being told well, this is what you get for paying peanuts, you get monkeys just takes the cake.
  19. Well, truth be told I'm new to this whole rep thing. I am more interested actually in doing frankens. Modifying things to look as gen like as possible. My most recent build is a vintage cosmograph and it has definitely left a bitter after taste. Dials and hands arrived all scratched, acrylic was also all scratched up internally, hands didn't fit the movement...... and that's just the beginning of the ordeal. When I asked the seller about it, the response was "welcome to the world of reps".... Although I am undecided whether to be blaming the seller for such shoddy parts, one thing that did strike me was I would never accept these parts had they been for my own watch brand. So my question is, why do all of you who do mods/ frankens just accept these, since I don't hear many people complaining about it? Is it because of a lack of supply so you take what you can get? or it enhances the trill of the build?
  20. Is there any interest in an actual CuSn8 caseset? Lovely watch btw.
  21. How do u go about picking one of those eauties?
  22. So the general consensus is to go the franken route then? I suppose I'm just a little lazy right now.
  23. The ChiMan's method just sounds like putting a skirt on a pig (no offense to anyone intended). It does look much better with the new dial, but it still doesn't have a working subdial. The idea of buying one from DW makes sense. But then, it doesn't look like the pushers are offset like the gen....
  24. I think it's always going to bug me because I will keep looking at it thinking, why is that needle fixed when there is a perfectly working movement that does not need to do that. UNLESS I know, ah because the rep movement is trying to replicate the gen dial layout etc. It's just one of those back of your mind things.
