  2. lPretty much what I planned in the first post, the guru single sided AR Crystal and the powermatic 80 movement. Misielkped did the work, outstanding as always, and all I'm doing is wearing it and loving it.

I believe the Lume is adequate for the watch. Although the dealers claim double AR it is somewhat lacking. If I were doing it again, I would go for the double AR cyclops.

Looks amazing!!!! Did you put a different DW by chance? It doesn't look like the V7 DW.

  3. This is the closest that you can visually make an AP ROO 42mm to gen without spending a few thousand on the "whole hog" package, gen dial, tachy, case re drilled for an LWO movement, movement as well as the costs of putting it all together.

Only a few thousand for this? Ha! I think I am not good at sourcing gen parts because I came across a gen dial for $1k, gen tachy for $800.

Also, which version donor AP roo should I get? This mod is wanting me to get myself a ROO!!!

  4. ... and the thinner date font...

I just get another 'new' V7 (the 2nd in 4 months), JF made a 'silent update' on it. The dial is more glossy, and the date is perfectly centered (pic below).

As I'm not an expert too, I would recommend to use Noob DIVER's plots on V7 case if you wanna use a Gen rubber strap on it for a perfect fit (what I did)

Silent update? I must get one myself. Which TD did you get the latest V7 from?

  5. I am planning to send the watch to domi to get a few things fixed and added.

    -Crooked datewheel

    -Installing gen Diver rubber strap

    -Putting in Powermatic 80 movement.

    -Waterproofing

    -Double AR on cyclops

    -Double AR Xtal

Not sure if I need the double AR on the Xtal since AP only has one side AR and V7 is already pretty decent right off the bat.

Let me know if I am missing anything else.

  6. I see a lot of franken AP ROO on here and other rep forums and haven't seen many franken AP Divers. Is it because the gen parts are harder to source?

I was starting to think it makes more sense to go for franken AP ROO then AP Diver since AP ROO costs anywhere around $25k-40k. So if one were to invest $5k into a franken AP ROO, it's still fraction of the cost. Whereas AP Diver costs about $15K and you would be spending about 1/3 of the cost for a franken.

    What do you guys think?

  7. Apples to oranges. LWO is for the AP ROO chronos, the Powermatic 80 is a straight 3 hand movement used in the diver as a replacement slow beat movement. They are not interchangeable.

Oh I see. Thank you for that info. I've seen some 2nd hand Tissot Powermatic 80 for around $250-400 on ebay. Not sure where I could source just the movement.  :g:

  8. AR cyclop, relume, and a slow beat conversion. For the slow beat, I would strongly recommend finding a Tissot Powermatic 80 as a movement donor. the Powermatic 80 is an ETA movement, slow beat (21000 beats) with an 80 hour power reserve!! I believe that if you do these mods, you will have a really nice AP.

Does the gen AP have slow beat as well? Ive never seen a gen AP Diver so I can't tell which movement is closest to gen. I do hear good things about Tissot Powermatic 80 and its whopping 80 hour power reserve.
