After some refinement
uhhh, ROO black theme is GEN or franken right?
-
lPretty much what I planned in the first post, the guru single sided AR Crystal and the powermatic 80 movement. Misielkped did the work, outstanding as always, and all I'm doing is wearing it and loving it.
I believe the Lume is adequate for the watch. Although the dealers claim double AR it is somewhat lacking. If I were doing it again, I would go for the double AR cyclops.

Looks amazing!!!! Did you put a different DW by chance? It doesn't look like the V7 DW.

I am expanding my watch straps and wanting to get a boa leather strap. They are a bit cheaper and lasts a bit longer than crocs.
Do you guys also own any snake leather straps? If so, is it suitable for everyday wear?
Thanks!

That's interesting that black theme is better than other themes? Why is this? Is it more accurate?
-
Is there a reason why you mixed up V7 with Noob's version? I guess some parts are better than the others?
-
I just that my bezel screw located near 1 oclock sticks out more than the rest.
I am assuming the gen Diver bezel screws look like this right?
Do I need to file down the screw length or something?

And it's darker brother.

wow! very nice! which rep is this?

This is the closest that you can visually make an AP ROO 42mm to gen without spending a few thousand on the "whole hog" package, gen dial, tachy, case re drilled for an LWO movement, movement as well as the costs of putting it all together.
Only a few thousand for this? Ha! I think I am not good at sourcing gen parts because I came across a gen dial for $1k, gen tachy for $800.
Also, which version donor AP roo should I get? This mod is wanting me to get myself a ROO!!!
-
... and the thinner date font...
I just get another 'new' V7 (the 2nd in 4 months), JF made a 'silent update' on it. The dial is more glossy, and the date is perfectly centered (pic below).
As I'm not an expert too, I would recommend to use Noob DIVER's plots on V7 case if you wanna use a Gen rubber strap on it for a perfect fit (what I did)
Silent update? I must get one myself. Which TD did you get the latest V7 from?

I am planning to send the watch to domi to get a few things fixed and added.
-Crooked datewheel
-Installing gen Diver rubber strap
-Putting in Powermatic 80 movement.
-Waterproofing
-Double AR on cyclops
-Double AR Xtal
Not sure if I need the double AR on the Xtal since AP only has one side AR and V7 is already pretty decent right off the bat.
Let me know if I am missing anything else.

What's the best rep version out there? I've been looking at PAM 441 ZF 1:1 Best Edition ZP .9001 for a bit but my decision is not made yet. Any recommendations for me?

Hi guys,
I just bought some watch straps to replace my current ones. Is there a starter kit for watch tools or anything? Any feedback would be appreciated!
-
False alarm guys. It's GEN.
It came with the packaging and I noticed that GEN straps are a bit darker than REP ones.
-
I was able to source 2nd hand AP Diver GEN straps and I can't tell the difference just by looking at them. Someone said OEM feels a lot more harsh but they feel the same.
I am starting to think if the seller sold me REP as oem strap.
-
I see a lot of franken AP ROO on here and other rep forums and haven't seen many franken AP Divers. Is it because the gen parts are harder to source?
I was starting to think it makes more sense to go for franken AP ROO then AP Diver since AP ROO costs anywhere around $25k-40k. So if one were to invest $5k into a franken AP ROO, it's still fraction of the cost. Whereas AP Diver costs about $15K and you would be spending about 1/3 of the cost for a franken.
What do you guys think?
-
Apples to oranges. LWO is for the AP ROO chronos, the Powermatic 80 is a straight 3 hand movement used in the diver as a replacement slow beat movement. They are not interchangeable.
Oh I see. Thank you for that info. I've seen some 2nd hand Tissot Powermatic 80 for around $250-400 on ebay. Not sure where I could source just the movement.
-
Yes the genuine movement in the AP divers is a slow beat.
What do you think about LWO 283 movement? Powermatic 80 movement is still superior?
-
AR cyclop, relume, and a slow beat conversion. For the slow beat, I would strongly recommend finding a Tissot Powermatic 80 as a movement donor. the Powermatic 80 is an ETA movement, slow beat (21000 beats) with an 80 hour power reserve!! I believe that if you do these mods, you will have a really nice AP.
Does the gen AP have slow beat as well? Ive never seen a gen AP Diver so I can't tell which movement is closest to gen. I do hear good things about Tissot Powermatic 80 and its whopping 80 hour power reserve.

Thanks! They are having a Christmas sale too!

It seems like many of you guys go with custom croco strap or aftermarket croco strap. Any recommendations?

I saw his new thread,
Feedback needed on Mark XVII 1:1 Best Edition SS Black Dial A2892I still want to know the price.
It was $350.
I am hoping to exchange the watch or just return it.
-
Have anyone compared the IWC reps to gen in person? $300 seems a lot for a rep.
I just receivd my watch and i am extremely dissatisfied with the quality of the rep.
No ar. No texure on the face. Very yellowish hands.
