1. Hey guys - bit of a rollie newb but hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Ive read here that the WM9v2 is the best sub rep - but if i was after a rep with NATO strap - would it be accurate to get the WM9v2 and replace the bracelet or is there a diff rolex altogether that came with NATO gen? Not after any of the PVD .. want to stick with SS

    Thanks

  2. Take your time Romp. But any initial thoughts on it ?

Puretime, any updates of the 177 can be made? :D

Guys - initial thoughts .. this watch rocks!

Only issues noted which are common are the swiss made text slightly (like a tenth of a millimetre) too clsoe to the 6 and the text is apparently not off white enough. However, I cant notice the off white issue in normal lighting ...

Howver, very happy with the lume, AR, crownguard, crown thickness, movement keeping awesome time and the power reserve has lasted 47 hours so far(will go home and take a final count)

I have just ordered a custom handmade strap from V which will arrive soon so I can showcase this as well

    Cheers,

    Rob

  3. That's exactly what Mario Paci's head strapmaker, Fabrizio, suggests for all pricey straps -- Meltonian Neutral. It can be bought at your local shoemaker or on eBay, dead cheap. I think it was $2.50 per vial, excluding shipping.

I also, just today, got Chelsea Leather Food from Greg Stevens, that other famous strapmaker.

I do have to say that I haven't tried this (Chelsea) on my Strapculture straps YET. What you describe Romp, is precisely why with regret, I do not recommend anyone to buy Strapculture straps, at least certain lines.

I know they are very popular. I'm sure when they are worn in they are nice. But the Legend line is made of VERY coarse, low-grade leather -- it's as thick as cardboard, and stiffer than John Kerry at a bar mitzvah.

Meltonian Neutral had no effect on my 2 SC straps whatsoever, but then, I'm no real leather expert, like V, Tootall or Savage. Try it. At least it won't stain!

Thanks V - Im going to get a diff strap this week

Yes this legend strap is coarse, thick and cardboardy ... itll wear in i hope

  4. Hey guys,

Just quickly - Ive put a strap culture strap onto my 111H. It looks great and is chunky etc but as the leather is new it isnt exactly very soft yet! Wondering if anyone has some techniques to soften the leather up quickly .. or "destroy" the leather to give it a more vintage look but soften it at the same time.

The part that is scratching my wrist the most is near the buckle where the loop thing is. Seems to be combo of the stitching and leather.

    Cheers,

    Rob

  5. I have Angus's "Ultimate" 111H and will be writing a review on it over the weekend. It has superlume and yes everything is pretty perfect. Only two issues - colour of the lettering some find not quite off white enough (I find its pretty close int he flesh) and the "swiss made" text is like 1/10th of a millimetre too close to the 6.

Other than that the AR, Lume, CG, thick crown, movement etc are spot on

  6. I just gave my much loved 111H i bought a year and a bit ago... came back onto this site (had to stay away... all these precious... too tempting... must ... control... myself...) to look for a replacement.

I almost creamed my pants seeing that I can now pickup a pre-moded 111H!!! I really really love the lume and was always a bit lume envy

I'd appreciate it Romp, if you could comment on this watch compared to something like a DSN custom or any other pre-mod available.

    looking forward to your review...

    Definitely

I will try to find other member pics of TWP and DSN 111h to compare.

Will try have it done on Sunday.

    Cheers,

  7. The pics looks awsome. I just want to ask about the pin on the CG. On a gen 111H, is the pin suppose sit flush with the CG and brushed as well?

Angus's appears to be rounded and polished.

    Thanks~

Guys the watch arrived promptly and I have put a nice strap culture chocolate mocha strap on it ...

Will take photos and review it over the weekend for your info.

Also - the CG is brushed as it is suppose to be

  8. Thanks, Vicky!

Any chance you start posting pics in img format rather that url format?

    img format:

    url format:

You get img format by copying the very last line of the several options that Imageshack offers you, and pasteing that line in the box that opens in your RWG post editor when you click the "Insert Image" button.

That would make much easier for me to see your always interesting pics.

    Thanks!

woot radiomir 292 ceramic! $6k aint bad
