  1. Hi all.

This person is seriously taking the p**s!

"Ebay note: Please understand, this is a genuine Swiss timepiece, so I am not infringing any rules."

Swiss ETA internals methinks!! Look at the pics. The Link is not working properly in this post so please click on the link to RWI and then the Link to eBay!

Failing that, the eBay Item Number is 250160045995

  2. By the way, I'm in Cyprus now, I don't know if there is anyone on RWG from here.. but you can always leave a message. I'm here until next Monday morning. It is a lot hotter here than in Athens, where it rained most of the days I was there.

Make sure you get your friend to introduce you to the delights of drinking Souvrenir and Cochinelli!! Yassou fileh! Te Kanis? Gala! Galo Ray!

    Take care "Kumbaros"

    Scott.

  3. It doesn't look that badly aligned to me. Still, this is just pictures. Maybe in person it'd be more obvious. If so, then yes, if the dealer agreed to make sure it was aligned.

Ref! Get yer glasses on!! "doesn't look that badly aligned to me". Strewth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad you made it to Scotland OK!! :victory:

  4. I just wanted to publicly thank The Zigmeister for the recent repair of my beloved Daytona before the world explodes. And for all the great technical stuff he has posted on this and other sites. Not that I understand any of it, but he sure did a great job fixing my watch.

    THANKS A MILLION! :1a:

A big English thank you from me too!!! You should be named The Zigmeister "Superlume" Zumba!!! Not many Bell & Ross's glow like they're RADIOACTIVE Orange!!

Thanks again Rob (& Jen too!!!)

    Scott.

  5. That will not work as their server doesn`t recognise some off the european ip adresses for some odd reason.

I can acces rwi in the normal way at home (for a few months, before i couldn`t) but not at my work.

I have asked Tim (drmmaster, the boss of rwi) and he helped me.

    Same here.

RWI at work - No go

    RWI in house - Great

Live and work in Germany, Broadband in house, Shared Internet over WAN at work.

I am assuming it's a speed/timeout server thing rather than an IP issue...

    Scott.

  6. I sit in front of this damn monitor at work and at home.. too many hours a day.

Recently I decided to experiment with a little internet radio to see what it was worth.

    Well now I am hooked.

The site I joined (for no fee) is working out really well. It is called PANDORA.com. It is available for the time being in CONUS only, although they have plans to expand worldwide eventually. The concept works really well. You supply your email address, which is not sold or mis-used for spam or internet advertising and that is all there is to it. Once you join you select the type of music you like or an artist or song that you enjoy, and that becomes the basis of your listening. You can ask for as many different genres as you like.

Example: I punched in 'Piano jazz', and bingo...all day long I listen to a variety of piano jazz, playing softly on my speakers in the background. No talking...no commercials...just music.

I minimize the site, therby not even looking at the preplaced ads, and play..play. I highly recommend it.

After a week or so, I emailed them to tell them how much I liked thier site, and they responded by offering me a free baseball cap and T-shirt with thier logo on them. Just to say thanks.

    Try it you'll like it.

I DO NOT WORK FOR OR AM I AFFILIATTED WITH PANDORA, really.

I have just been onto Pandora's Website. Brilliant!! Works OK in Germany where I live :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  7. So, how about it? If the genuine article is quartz, why should I pay MORE for an automatic which is guaranteed to be less accurate and likely to have problems a quality quartz unit will never have.

    Chris

For the same reason that some people bought cars from LOTUS in the 70's and 80's. They were unreliable (they broke down frequently) compared to other British cars at the time (e.g. Dolomite Sprint etc.) but they were mechanical works of art. The LOTUS Esprit is a prime example...

We're not here for the boundless love of mechanical beauty alone, not even a little bit.

Speak for youself, not all of us...

Who would want a quartz movement over good, reliable classic ETA? Perhaps the same people who would choose a Volkswagen over Audi?

    I also agree...

I don't really care much about my avatar one way or the other. I think it's funny, end of story.

That about sums you up... :thumbsupsmileyanim:

As they say "Get a Grip!" LOL

    Scott. :victory:

  8. UK doesn't care... Narikaa just got a watch back that was declared for 295$ lol.. UK are probably the best EU customs for reps

I have had ZERO problems with UK Customs.

Probably easiest entry for Reps compared to some EU Countries.

Better to still be discreet though!! (Order 1 at a time etc.) :whistling:

    Scott. :victory:

  9. I still am amazed at the speed of AirMail to EU destinations...less than 10 days??

Glad it made it home safe and sound, and I hope it doesn't give you any further problems. I am pleased to hear that you like the lume results.

Not often I get to use my orange lume.

    RG

Yes it was quick. 11 Days (posted by you on 26/03 and arrived here 05/04). Better still though, it went to UK first then was transferred into the Military mail system (BFPO) and then made it's way here to Germany to where I am currently posted. Basically, it took a week to get to the UK.

    Take care.

  10. Hey Y'all

I know this is my first post but I've been around for a few weeks now doing research on my first rep. I always knew it had to be the omega SMP (swiss eta), and i finally decided on one of the trusted dealers here. So I got the watch today and I love it. It has the 3 hour mark wich i was hoping it would. However, I noticed that the second hand was not moving. I unscrewed the crown, set the date and time and then tried to push it back in to wind. This took a few tries to get it because I could not get it to the right position to wind. I finally did and must have wound it for about 3 or 4 min straight. But still no movement. I contatcted the dealer and he instructed me to shake it vigirously and then it should be fine. I did this and the second hand started to move. I was so happy. 45 seconds later it froze again. :( I repeated the proces several times with similar otcome. The hand will move anywehre between 5 seconds and 1 mintue and then it freezes. I shake the hell out of it, it moves a little more and it stops again. Any suggestions. I sent the dealer another email but he has not responded to my newest finding.

Thank you all for your help in advance.

P.S. I didn't realize what I was getting myself into when I was planning on buying a rep, but I have quickly become addicted to reading posts and learning as much as I can about my new hobby.

I wonder why yours has the 3 O'clock Hour Marker? Andrew said that the "Maker" had changed the design and omitted it!! The one that I got from him last month did not have it! Strange....

    Scott.

  11. Scottie,

do you have any pics of the strap with your B&R?

The strap that I have is the one in the picture. At the moment, my B & R is on the way back from Canada!! :bicycle: I sent it to The Zigmeister for Orange Superlume (the Orange B & R has ZERO lume!!!!!!!!!) and also to see if he could swap the movement as it was DOA from Andrew. He couldn't swap it but did manage to get it going again!!!! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

The Zigmeister took some pics of my watch.:victory: One of them is below...

  12. I just recieived my new watch...

sorry I need your help I cant set the hrs...? the crown doesnt pull out----?

    any idea?

    Thanks!

The Crown doesn't "pull" out. You have to unscrew the Crown first by turning anti-clockwise. Once you have unscrewed it then gently pull and the Crown will pop into the 1st setting position allowing you to set the time.

Refitting Crown is easy. Push in and twist clockwise.

    Scott.

  13. "Lakenheath sux but they have a BX. Cambridge, Norwich, and Nottingham are the coolest places near that area. Lakenheath and Mildenhal are small desolate little towns. Dont buy a british spec car, bring your American car. The further away from the bases and Americans the better off you will be. Base housing sucks and so do the off base houses. The towns only exist beacause of the Bases. People will want to take you to Newmarket but if your going that far you might as well drive another 10mins and go to Cambridge. I can give you all kinds of info. What do you like to do? Do you have a family? I am assuming you are PCSing since May is a PCS month."

2 things... What is a BX???? I think you mean a PX!! LOL

I disagree with reference to "Dont buy a british spec car, bring your American car." American cars normally guzzle fuel and at our fuel prices, it's not really cost effective. He would be better buying a cheap runabout which he could sell at the end of his tour (assuming of course that he's in the military).

Just my 2 cents worth... :victory:

    Scott.

  14. You're new. You have a very low post count. I suppose that some allwances should be made.

On the other hand, I wish that comment had been made by someone I could appropriately respond to.

If you intend to remain here and bless us with this sort of [censored] Scottie, do us all a favor and beam yourself back from whence you came.

That was COMPLETELY out of line, and if you do getted bounced over it, you damn sure earned it in my view.

    Bill

I was having a laugh! :victory: Don't you worry yourself about low Post count, Bill - It is not necessarily an indicator as to a person's knowledge of our hobby!! I know how to behave myself on a Forum!!!

    Scott.
