  1. I received a GMT Master II Asian Clone ETA 2836 from Marvellous Replica a couple of months ago and am very pleased with it. It ran about 15 seconds fast at first, but I bought the Kello app and was able to regulate it so it's about +5 sec/day. The bracelet was not very smooth at first, but I soaked it in WD40 and that made a noticeable improvement. The bezel has a little slack to it, but it's not bad--only about 1/2 minute counter clockwise. Also, the lack of AR on the cyclops makes the date a little hard for me to read sometimes.

The flaw on this particular watch is the lume on the minute hand. The factory put a blue hand instead of a green one. My plan is to have the entire watch re-lumed some day. Luckily, out of site, out of mind so I don't notice it most of the time. A lume shot was not one of my requests during the QC process--but this is my first rep and I've learned--and am still learning!

  2. I received my 45mm UPO from Marvellous a few weeks ago. I love the way it looks and feels. The movement has been running fairly accurately and, after removing a wonky half link, the bracelet, has been holding up well and is very comfortable, too. I like how it's more subtle than the GMT I have for those times and places where I'm not as comfortable flashing a Rolex. The 45 mm size is great because I think it has an awesome presence on my wrist. Here are some iPhone shots. The macros were also taken with my iPhone, using an OlloClip lens:

  3. Quite awhile ago I had my Paypal account compromised: small unauthorized purchases were made and I only found out when PayPal notified me that my account was restricted due to strange activity. By the time, I checked my account, they had fixed the problem and credited back the money. I then switched my account sign-in to a 2 step process and got the security card from Paypal that generates a random code that must be entered to log in. They usually charge money for the security card, but I got them to send me one for free.

I also use 2-step verification log in with my Google account because I've heard of the headaches people have had when their accounts were hacked.

  4. I was able to catch the premiere streamed live from amctv.com --too bad this was a one time only event! Now I'll have to wait to download the reps;).

BTW, Season 4 is now available on Netflix.

  5. My father just passed away this last march and left me his gen 16803 that he wore everyday for the last 20 years it was never serviced and he basically took it off just to sleep.

Sorry to hear about your father and thank you for sharing your story. As a father myself, it's heartwarming to hear how you can take a simple object and make it so meaningful. You did a great job with the watch and it's nice to see how your father can have some positive influence even when he's not there.

  6. A few years ago I went through my mid-life and spent a lot of money finding my way out. One of the things I bought was a gen Speedmaster Pro--manual wind, hesalite crystal--because I was always fascinated with astronomy. I made a promise at the time that I was buying it for my first male heir. I figured with proper care, it could last longer than I did.

Since then, I've had a son so now I know who I'm going to give the watch to and I look forward to it when the time is right.

For myself, I'm buying reps because that's what I can afford and they give me pleasure. I don't think there's anything wrong introducing your son to the world of reps if he's already shown an interest. He can share your appreciation of watches and maybe develop his own. Who knows, maybe he'll grow up and buy a gen for you!

  7. if I may, the giveaways are:

The purpose of QC pics is not to see the differences between rep and gen. It's to make sure it's the watch you ordered and there are no obvious cosmetic flaws. I'm no expert by any means, but it looks pretty good to me.
