Edit - updated with pics of the Grey/slate/black dial version of this watch. The dial on this is VERY nice, best printing and finish of any rep I've ever had. Hands are very nicely blue'd as well, no discoloration or scratches or rough edges anywhere.

First off I have to say thank you to PIX for his shots of the Montblanc Sport Chrono, which got me interested in this line in the first place. After purchasing several watches on rubber straps, I wanted to get something with a steel bracelet. The caveats were that it could not be too flashy (like my Breitling Two Tone Evo's or my Navitimers), and it shouldn't be too plain (like my Omega UPO's). so a non-bling, but still interesting SS based watch w/steel bracelet was what I wanted. Lucky for me the Montblanc Star Chrono GMT 1906 Anniversary edition had just been repped using a gen watch.

If you look for this watch on the Montblanc website it's actually pretty hard to find, it's not listed in the regular catalog. The direct link to it is here:

Place my order with Josh, had the watch in my hand one week later. In person it is far, far better looking than any of the dealer pics. Josh makes the watch look like a white dial in his pics, but the reality is that it's a very nice silver starburst dial, with a lot of depth and interesting things happening. I've tried to capture the beauty of the watch in my pics, but alas I can only get close, but not quite get the full awesomeness it has in person.

I know there's been a general complaint around here that rep prices are going up, but I gotta say that every single one of my last few purchases has put a stunning watch in my hands. This watch, the Chopard MM XXL Chrono grey dial, the Baume & Mercier Riveria Magnum, the Graham Chronofighter, the HBB's, the Porsche Flat 6, all of them have simply outclassed the best reps I'd previously owned, such as the Omega UPO, Breitling Navi's, a whole slew of Panerai's, Omega SMP and SMP Chrono, IWC 3717, etc... Honestly, for this level of quality I don't mind paying more, they look stunning and really cannot be distinguished from the gen when doing a 'look and feel' type of comparison.

Anyway, enough talk, on to the pics, hope you like them. Grey/Slate/Black dial:

I love this white face  MB, I bought the grey face model a couple from crazy Tone for next to nothing but I still want this white face version so I hope someone will direct me to the best deal ( price ) on this white face watch to add to my collection. please contac  me at rocky4692@yohoo.com . Thank you . on this web site a few years crazy Tone sales were constant and his prices were lower that anywhere else.

  2. I am truly glad that some of you finaly went ahead and bought one. I had wanted the white dial for quite some time but most places are charging $360m to almost $900.for this same watch but wheh I saw Tony had the grey only for a little over $200 I bought mine as soon as I could get the payment to him. I'm old and disabled and don't see as well as I used to but this grey face model is stunning. I have an electric watch box that I use to keep 8 watches ready at any time ( my favorites ) and this is one of them.If you ever even thought about getting one please don't wait any longer. this is one of the most well made high quality watches I have seen that hasn't been to the garage for a major tune up. but if I do find the white face for a price like Tony had for this one even being on a fixed income now I will do everything in my power to buy it too. I hope that I have helped some of you to make the decision to get this watch  ,wheather white or grey you won't be sorry

  3. My mail man Jason has this in gen.that he paid $2800.00 for and I can't wait to show him this, I'm slowly getting him into the rep world and he will be amazed at this.  And I can't wait to see your finished product, I know it will be a true work of art. I am personally very impressed with what you are doing, I just wish my old hands aren't so shakey so I could get the enjoyment and self satisfaction of completing a  project such as this.

  4. Like stated above this is a hobby and can be an expensive one at that but I love this hobby of watch collecting  and without a doubt rather take my chances with someone who is classified as a TD on this RWG site than any attempt to take the chance on dealers who just out of the blue send me email advertising their so called wonderful products and low prices. Even less would I be inclined to google  some who knows who. But thank you for your informative input on this subject, we were all new at this at some point in our very addictive hobby but any post that can possibly help someone new to this is allways good, thank you. I have been buying and selling watches for probably 30 years at least. Back then it was mostly quartz and even the automatics were mostly cheap.

  5. When I have a problem of this nature  I have a small jewelry story nearby that I take my watches too, not expensive and usually do the repairs while I Waite. Or you could post a GEN post I'm sure there are several members here who probably have what you need in their scrap or parts boxes who would be willing to  sell you  what you want.

  6. Jawo I personally thank you for going to all of the time and trouble you must have gone through to find and post this  excellent bit of information that no doubt will save someone from loosing their hard earned money on false hopes.I personally haven't fallen for one of these sites largely in part because of all of these very good and knowledgeable people ,who I consider experienced friends right here on RWG. I came close to ordering from an unknown a while back but everyone advised me to stay away and I thank all of them for looking after my best interest. The members on this forum are amazing and don't mind helping another member at all. I am disabled and spend most of my days on this great site reading and rereading. I only wish I had found this place a lot sooner.  But any thank you for the very informative post.

  7. I think for a rep it's a very nice looking watch and I personally would give the ok green light to send it on to me. No telling what the next one would be like. I have this watch in my wish list but I have so many black face and bezel watches now I will probably go with the TI blue or pumpkin on my next order.  I already have the seamaster PO Chrono SS professional that I just bought and really love and also just bought an omega  ok casino royale from a member  here that's also black so I must go with  blue or pumpkin on my next purchase. But I think you have made a wonderful choice with this one.   Good luck and enjoy your new watch.

  8. I never would have thought of Ikea for a display cabinet and I certainly don't have enough watches to fill it at the present time but you have done an excellent job here. And that watch collection is nothing short of amazing or incredible, thank you so much for the pics and the idea for the future in my case.

  9. Please post pics ASAP I can't wait to see this new build, sounds too good to be true but I know it is and am looking forward to seeing how great it looks. Congratulations on your new purchase but I know the wait can really take a toll on you for something this special. Please keep us all posted on the progress even QC pics if you can because I have now become very interested in this new top quality watch. And thanks for the info posted here.

  10. Good morning misiekped,, I was going to ask the same question as Pandora153 about your total cost of this beautiful build. I know it quite expensive with all of the gen parts but you have one of the best looking  custom builds I have seen and you should wear it proudly.

  11. Man I thought it was just me and the Coors light from last night had kicked back in.   I got my 8+4 winder in the black today and other than the key hole looks like my broken burlwood  and the  one fragile42 is showing, I love it for $99.99 and free shipping.
