Ive been busy have not connacted him but will do so right now since Im kindaof leaning towards his case Im still on the fence about which case to go with specially since Im going gen crystal and crown on one hand it be nice to save$500 on the case on the other if my gen parts dont fit ill be upset. Im going to write him now I am also at the point where Im tracking down my movement to make purchase already and tring to source a gen crown from a reliable dealer tring to get just crown has been dificult most want to sell crown/tube set. Oh one more thing I did, I got my complete set of tools last week, right tool for the right job and so forth =) pics bellow. Ill get back with mings reply

  2. Hi im ordering a replacment crystal for my gen 16803 and was wondering if the gasket size is 2.7mm like the 16610 or if its another size ? Another thing is im thinking of going with the Clark since its $30 with shipping and ships from the US the TC is $75 with shipping and ships from china is the TC really that much better to justify the $45 diffrence and longer shipping time if it is then I dont mind going TC

Thank you in advance for the help

  3. Hi guys maybe you guys can help out a newcomer Ive been searching on here and RWI for where to find a dealer that sells MBWs and while I found what it stands for Maria´s Best Watches and that 2 dealers are Luckyyy and Watchmaster I cant seem to find a website for these dealers, are MBWs still made ? or are the ones for sale are just left over from when they when they were or sold 2nd hand ? also wondering how these cases and parts compare to the other more expensive vintage dealers like Minh CWP NDT and Phong if you guys can directme towards a dealer where I can see what MBW are available for purchase I would really appretiate it I always try to find info for myself befor bothering the community but in this case i cant seem to find the info .

    Thanks Guys =)

  4. I agree with you it is, but only if my total build was on a budget. I really had no other choice imo after spending 6k on the rest of the watch... The coronet on that one is huge and the printing thick but all in all not bad.

yea i figuered, you already spent that much no time to pinch pennies =), how long did MQ take to get the dial to your door and what country are you located in if you dont mind me asking. I feel your pain I havent pulled the trigger on my 6538 project cause there just isnt a 2 line dial out there that closely resembles the original all of them have to little spacing between the 2 lines when your spending thousands to recreat a truely rare watch you want it to be as close as possible to the last detail so I definatly hear ya.

  5. The ingod one seems to be alot of bang for the buck imo spacing looks off between the coronet and Rolex when compared to Mayers one but that seems off in all of them and oviuously they would have to paint the 3 markes that for some reason stayed white in that foto but oviously the print quaility is not like the minhQ but is about an 8th of the price im no expert but it seems like a good option. also subdial spacing looks pretty good and you can use the diffrence to order something else from MinhQ for another project maybee a 6538 case we were talking about that he sells for $900 =O, how long was the shipping from minh CC incase i decide to order my case from him ? I dont know your level of expertice but painting dial markers on a $1000 dial is a bit risky if you dont have the experience just my 2 cents hope this helps

  6. chocho, those cheaper Daytona's have many many flaws.

The vintage Daytona model is really an advanced build for the advanced rep collector.

In order to get into this watch you need a a good case to start with. DW had a good thing going for awhile, at an affordable price..but he's now dubious. I don't reccomend the cartel watches to put any money into if your going to build a nice Daytona.

Thxs woof naa im not planing on building or getting one of these yet I was curious since I came across them yesterday Im still planing on building the 6538 that you guys all have been waing in on my other other thread but thatnks for the reply I figuered they were very flawed just that for the money they caught my attention =) haha

  7. Nice Dial CC =)) hey since you guys know so much about this model watch ( I had never seen one before till I saw your other thread on your build) I figuerd Id ask. I was checking out the selection at Joshua/ pure clones yesterday and came across their vintage daytona page and was wondering how good or bad you guys think these clones are : http://www.1-pc8838....?page=1&sort=3d

    http://www.1-pc8838....us-p-10081.html

they are oviously very cheap in comparison to a build from scratch thats why I was curious, figuer at that price might be worth it just for parts no if making a build.

Once agin CC grat I know youve put a lot of time and effort into your build cant wait to see the updated pics

  8. Hello RWG

Was wondering if theres is finally a place to purchase the Asian Super 3135 Clone Automatic Movement besides buing a watch from Pure Time just to pull the movement from or is there another other rep dealer for that matter that sells watches with this type of movement ? From what ive been able to read and find I only find that Pure Time has them Oviously Im asking about the Super Clone and not the dressed up ETA2836.

    Thanks

    Example at : http://puretime.co/p...5-best-edition/

  9. Hi I’m fairly new to RWG and if this info has been posted before I apologize for the repeat thread if it has not been then maybe it should be stickyed somewhere for future noobs like me to have as a reference. While most of my time on RWG has been researching vintage part suppliers for a future build I’m going to embark on and am now familiar with these sites and who they are it was equally difficult for me to get a complete list of where these suppliers where located on the web when I started so I imagine other newbies like me are having a hard time as well bellow I will post the site for the vintage watch suppliers and if you guys can help me out with the websites or forum sites for the others that would be great. Again I apologize if this has been posted before I just haven’t been able to find it. These acronyms are difficult for newbies to make heads or tails from when they first embark in learning and reading on the forum and searching for them result in countless threads maybe I’m just looking in the wrong place on the forum haha if so please point me in the right direction. Also if any one would like to add to the list be my guest. Thank You

  10. I just put one on my gen 16803 and am very happy with the quality i bought it on the bay from http://stores.ebay.com/JKTimepiece?_trksid=p4340.l2563 i paid $225 (make an offer)http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rolex-Submariner-2-Tone-Gray-Serti-Diamond-Sapphire-Accent-Dial-/221060565236?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33783c88f4 fast shipping and good comunication cant beat it for the price a gen serti at least the ones ive seen sell for like 2k the dial has real gems just cloudier than the flawless gems used on a gen serti but really it isnt anything noticable to the naked eye imo here are pics of my dial and watch

  11. I'm sure phong case are from

Vietnam too. I have a Phong case and i love it. But 900 usd for the case from MQ is a good price.

Im goning to email him to find out where it ships from im glad you brought that to my atention cause his site contact info says its from Arizona and his site JAW is registered in Canada, and personaly the idea taht it ships from this side of the globe was a big selling point for me so yea better to ask first. Also gonna conatact Ming find out about warernt comatability with gen parts and water resistance $550 is a big difrence better to get all the details before making the desicion and purchase.

  12. Does the ming case comes with warranty like phong has, water resistant & to fit gen 1030 movement??

Recently contacted a member here to find out the yuki case he bought (2 years back) , turned out he sold them as it was LEAKING!

Water went in from everywhere, crown, back and.........................

Thats agood point CK at least on th esite theres no mention of warrenty or water resistance , I knew i was forgeting some good reasons why I was leaning more toward the more expensive phong case haha

  13. Just a thought, but what Minh might mean is that he can engrave your requested "numero". Therefore short "no."

aa good call I think you might be right makes sence, mmm Im still indecisive at $900 its a dam good price just dont know if the extra $550 for phongs craftmanship and US shipping location is worth it for $550 leaves more wiggle room for more gen parts. ahh waht to do, what to do =)

  14. I initially stumbled upon the rep world after doing research on telling the difference between gen and rep. I subsequently purchased a gen submariner 16610 and wore it proudly for 3-4 months.

Later, as unforeseen expenses crept up, I sold it and picked up a first of many subs and many reps I have bought and sold since joining this wonderful community. Today, while I have many reps, I do not have a plain black 16610 sub. I've been thinking about getting a nice old beater gen sub from the mid-90's with lug holes. While I am impressed with the quality of reps (I own several BK watches) and am tempted by TCs new offering, I would not mind picking up a gen sub which I would pass down to my boy. He's getting a little older and I see him looking at it from time to time. Nothing wrong with passing down a Franken with gen movement either, it's just that a gen is still a gen... I would probably leave him all my watches assuming that they last that long! All have Swiss movements and when I finally get to all my projects, many will have gen movements as well.

Am I off here? Should I just wait until he gets into his teenage years and discuss the CGs and pearls in addition to birds and bees? If I had built all these watches myself, I would see it differently as he would appreciate my labor of building them. Unfortunately, I am no builder or modder.

    Your input is truly valued!

Your Post inspired me to share my experience,

My father just passed away this last march and left me his gen 16803 that he wore everyday for the last 20 years it was never serviced and he basically took it off just to sleep. As you can imagine when I got it it was in terrible shape. I had no idea what a 16803 was and while i've always liked watches I knew very little about dismantling them and building them. The more I started to dive into reading about the 16803 and how to take apart the watch the more intrigued I became and the more I started to read and study up on TRF, VRF and here on RWG I ended up ordering a complete set of watch tools ( case openers, crystal removers, hand removers and pressers etc.) and took the watch completely apart I bought new gen hands , gen end links and new gen BI from my local rolex dealer I ordered a Serti slate dial which I love and a ThomasPerik case back which i also fell in love with I know its not for everyone. I put the watch together my self after studding every step carefully and then had my watchmaker give it a full service and polish. The end result after about $1200 and alot of studding and TLC, I have a watch that is very near and dear to my heart that reminds me everyday of the type man my father was and helps to guide me in my everyday decisions in the sence that I try to think how would my father have handeled this situation being that I have a constant reminder of him on my wrist, as well some thing special that I can one day pass down to my future son or daughter. Not to mention I have discovered a new found love for this wonderful hobby of watch making, I just ordered a cheap $15 automatic jap watch to practice taking apart and rebuilding a movement and as some of you know from my other thread am in the middle of planning my first build a 6538 Big Crown. Just thought Id share my own personal story specially since I just got her back from the shop yesterday she's ready for another 20y of abuse =). Pics bellow sorry orig pics were from my phone that's why they suck. Oh and by the way im 34 i defiantly appreciate the watch and what it means to me now way more than I would have at 24, my 2 cents fort the poster thinking of handing the watch down to his son when hes 30. Still waiting for my gen end links incase any1 was wondering had to put some aftermarkets cause orig were damaged and lose was afraid watch would fall off.

  15. The 6538 came from the factory fitted with either a 7206 or 6636, each with 80 end links. The 7206 was offered with or without springs (my 6536-1 is fitted with a 7206 with springs). The spring versions were made to compete with Spidel's Twist-O-Flex bracelets, which were popular at the time (they allowed you to slide a watch on or off your wrist without having to open the clasp). I would avoid the spring bracelets as they are very uncomfortable.

Awesome Freddy You Da Man ! appretiate the info man thxs.

  16. Any one know what is the correct braclet for 6538 I saw a post on VRF that said that either the 7206 or 6636 both with 80 enlinks but most i seen have the 7206 I goggled some pics and they both look identical to my novice eye any1 know the diffrence ?

    http://www.network54...hich is correct...

do they both expand or just the 6636 the coment on the post says 7206 is regular oyster and 6636 elastic oyster but ive seen some 7206 refrences that shows them expanding Im a bit confused. Also I ve seen some 6636 with 75 endlinks

    Thxs

900usd for Minh Q case........i think we should call for a group purchase, may be he will bring down the price further.
