TBH I don't know. The pictures of the caseback of the latest generation 42mm PO look ok, but I can only assume that they may be about 0.4-0.5mm deeper to accomodate the 2824 movement compared to the Cal. 2500. The upside of the fat casebacked 45mm issue is that it should theoretically be an extremely easy retro-fit fix if and when a properly proportioned one appears (assuming they don't mess about with the case thread at the same time). I still think it looks ridiculous though.....

Until the rep makers stop insisting on bunging the 7750 into every automatic chrono they make we are unlikely to see a worthwhile version of this watch (as per Speedy, Daytona, etc. etc. etc.) That will only happen when the buyers stop perceiving 'added value' on incorrect implementations of the 7750 movement and start giving them the wide berth they deserve.

This watch is wrong for lots of reasons, the most critical one being a fat caseback that verges on the obese!! This is because of the bizarre choice of ETA 2836 movement which is the thickest of the 28xx range. The real watch uses Omega Calibre 2500 which is the same thickness as the thinnest of the 28xx range, the 2892. If I thought I could obtain a decent rep 22mm rubber strap (haven't encountered one yet) then I'd have a mind to build a Frankenrep using one of these and a Seagull ST-18 movement (2892 copy) and fit one of the spare casebacks I have from my pair of 45mm Asian PO's.... Edited to add: The fat caseback is the same one used on the 7750 PO chrono rep, which is why it looks ridiculous as it was built to accomodate the chrono movement using the 'bastard 7753' transfer gearing. Same flaw as the Daytona reps...

There is no doubting that the latest 7750 (8850!) Asian movements are an improvement on the older ones in terms of construction and finish of the parts. Assembly and quality control variations still seem to be an issue. Watches running fast or slow are mostly a beat/regulation issue and not something to criticise any one movement for. Chrono reset problems are an issue with all 7750 movements including the ETA Valjoux ones as are slow or stuck date roll-over problems. The misaligned datewheel in my TAG has been confirmed by my watchmaker as a problem with the printing on the wheel being off-centre and nothing more than that. My watch has regulated to being accurate to within +/-1 second in three days, and the only problem I have had was a gravity compensating spring for the chrono mechanism breaking, probably due to my overzealous testing of the chronos in the first place.... I give them the thumbs up...

I have to disagree. There is little benefit in paying the considerable premium for a Swiss based movement as the transfer gears used to replicate the Rolex layout are still aftermarket and still produce a movement that is too thick, and a disproportionate watch is the result. A little extra reliability for a lot of money doesn't disguise an expensive watch that still screams REP!! It is about time people just accepted that any 7750 based Daytona, regardless of layout, is going to be a poor compromise. I wish people would just stop buying them as it might encourage the development of a decent El Primero rep movement, and think of the possibilities that would open up.... (thinks TAG Calibre 36, Monza, Planet Ocean Chrono..........)

Not necessarily - there's a fix (applied to genuine as well as rep 7750s) that requires fully winding, running the and resetting watch a few times that will eventually reset the chronos. Someone posted it a while ago - I'll have a look for it....

D'you reckon?! All I'll say is I've never received from Neil a watch with a strap that doesn't fit, or a rusty movement or moisture forming on this inside of the crystal, which is more than can be said about the products of two other dealers in here that you won't read a lot about..... An ignorant but vocal minority do not a poor dealer make, but if it means there are few of them creating hassles for TTK so he can concentrate on his faithful customers then I'm not going to stop them shopping elswhere. Just watch out for the corrosion though.....

Oooops! All I was going to say was that it should be a doddle to rep as calendar subdial movements are ten a penny, even with moonphase (I'm sure Seagull do one....) I've always liked Oris and this is a watch worth repping as being out of the ordinary without being stratospheric.....
