  1. To a certain extent...I agree with the original poster.

PO's in my opinion don't have much "feel" for the money, and I believe there are better alternatives out there pound for pound. To those who are quick to get after this gent, relax...he wasn't comparing rep and gen, but merely saying he is suprised this particular watch fetches what it does.

  2. Hey Mark,

It is smaller but still a substansial and attractive watch. I own one and I must say as a professional, it you are wearing cuffed shirts i cant imagine anything bigger.

Avoid the trend, if you want a sport watch that is fine, but this is one of the ONLY stainless jobs that can go from casual to dress and for that reason it is a versatile, worthwhile addition to any collection.

  3. Give the dealer a month to fix or or tell EVERYONE WHO YOU ARE DEALING WITH.

Also...to substansiate your claims post pics here...nothing inspires the die-hards like a little photographic evidence.

    Hi all,

I have recently purchased an Ultimate PO from one of the trusted dealers. I have a few questions and concerns. First of all, the watch I received is a lemon. The dial was bad, specifically the white numbers the 6,9,12 seem to have been double stamped and were too big and messy. I contacted the dealer and they have sent the new dial which should be delivered in a few weeks. Fine, problem seems to have been addressed.

The second issue is that similarly to another thread my PO is defective. It doesn't seem to be able to work for more than 15 minutes at a time, even though it is wound. It also is extremely inaccurate whenever it does work. Being off by about 15 -30 minutes. This is not operator error, due to the fact that prior to this watch I purchased the same exact one two weeks prior from the same dealer and it is awesome.

I have told the dealer about these problems and their advice was to take it to a local watch place to be regulated and to replace the dial.

My question to all is: 1) Does the problem seem to be repairable by a regulation?

    2) If so, great but how much would it cost to replace a dial and regulate a watch?

Dealer said they would pay $25 for the work that needs to be done. This doesn't seem sufficient to me.

    What do you guys think?

  4. WAIT...

JUST REMEMBER...if you are a professional and want to wear a stainless watch to work DO NOT GO WITH 45MM WATCH...YOU ABSOLUTELY will not be able to fit it under your sleeeve.

However, if you want to wear it out with your Admin Pink rolled up ever so cleverly to reveal it go ahead...

    JEC

Thanks folks, I think I'm convinced :D I'll obviously be keeping the 42mm (when it gets back) as my daily beater, but I think I'll treat myself to the 45mm as something to switch to on occasion like going out with friends for the evening, as that way any drunken shenanigans won't result in the 42mm watch getting scratched up. As I said in the other thread, it might be inaccurate as a rep, but the fact it was a gift from my fiance gives it sentimental value :thumbsupsmileyanim:
  5. BTW-THE WATHC IS SO GOOD-I took it into a jeweler who services Rolex, Patek, VC, etc...he said this was a BEAUTIFUL watch and he much preferred it understated elegance to alot of the monsters out thier today that will not fit with a dress shirt under a suit. AWESOME...BTW-this was a jeweler who retails in arguably one of the most affluent zip codes in America...

You guys were right...I just needed a little more force. I have it set and it is purring.

One question...The movement looks pretty good but it I had the watch cleaned, lubed, and serviced could I expect a better run of the second hand? I have heard it is not a terrible idea to have this done anyway as these movement are puchased in mass and are a little stale.

I have an Explorer 1 (1016) from Andrew and you have to pull the stem out two clicks to adjust the time, first click does nothing the crown just spins freely and the second hand still moves, second click is a bit stiffer but not real bad, then the second hand stops and I can adjust the time normally. Two clicks back in, screw the crown back and bingo. It has ETA movement.

Hope this is some help GOOD LUCK.

    dieselpower.

  6. OK- just got my Explorer 1 from Andrew and it is a beauty. You had to be a AD or die hard RWG to spot any difference.

However, trying to set the thing and I am wondering if I got a dud...

I did they usual...unscrewed the crown, felt a little click, then wound forward and she is ticking and purring well.

BUT, went to the next little click out to set the time, turn it counter clockwise...and nothing-can't get it set. Not only that, the watch's second hand doesn't stop. I thought that was the point of the hacking mechanism. Am i making a mistake here in noob fashion or did I get a dud.

Please advise, in a relatively light flame way.

    Thanks

  7. Oh...G.W. Bush this and that...[censored]

judging by the Stephane you are either French or worse Canadian so please be quiet. If you are Canadian your opinion is useless and if you are French your opinion is quasi-useless unless we are talking about Champagne, berets, or the best way to surrender in war. Worldwide economic stablily could and would continue without either of those states...

Now having said that...I like your watch and nice pictorial.

BTW-if the dollar is so worthless why are 30-year treasuries on a huge run...foreign buyers must still find the underlying credit attractive

Ask G.W.Bush to stop to [censored] money in wars all over the planet and solar system...it may help the dollar, the world, you, me and everybody...

  8. You may be right Pugwash...these are artifically imposed hurdles. However, serve thier purpose...if you want to have a crack at many top tier opportunities you have to forsake current opportunity and pay your dues just like the people who are hiring you did...Keeps those who are only moderately interested or not capable of handling these difficulties away...therebye creating a more suitable applicant pool from which to draw.

  9. REP OR NO REP...HONOUR IS STILL HONOUR.

A man is nothing without it...This guy should give the snake a week, then if still nothing...out him! On this website, that is.

    JEC

Really makes me angry that such people exist...

We're talking about reps...to screw someone for a few bucks you have to be a @#$$%%!!!

  10. The point about buying one if you love it...but not bc it is reliable is valid. I have a rep JaegerLecoultre complicated and it is gorgeous but very tricky...caveat emptor.

Buy for looks but realize it is a rep and the price point is a giveaway...it is not the real thing and it doesn't carry warranty.

  11. Do you offer waterproofing...?

I just today purchase the $198 Rolex EXP I from Trusty (a watch I think you have) and it just seems really queer to take it off every time I am on a boat...I mean why buy a 3500 watch if you cant take a quick dip while fishing on the coast...did you WP your watches or were they waterproof?

    Please advise.

    JEC

Hmm...I suppose I could do the same.
  12. IF THIS IS A SCAM YOU WILL BE OUTED HERE...WHY WOULD YOU BUY A BEN ROLEX @ AD WITH PAPERS AND SELL IT ONE WEEK LATER...

    HUH?

Can anyone help me regarding my watches......I'm considering selling my two genuine SUBS,both black and steel.I have no idea how much they are worth, can anyone tell me what i should ask for realisticly?first one is a 2003 with general wear.second one is brand new and only one week old(never been worn)papers with both
  13. Really thought this would stimulate the sophisticates more than it has...hmm.

OK-EXPERTS...I have included some good info so lets discuss which is the best...316L is a common rep material as is 440. Lets get in to why one vs. the other please...seem 440 is harder/heavier but 316L offers better resistance to corrosion which seems important in a daily beater especially if you are water bound...let me know what you think...
