  1. Can I ask what the Breitling experts on here think of the Chrono-matic 49 as a rep? I'm on a steep learning curve with Breitlings - I didn't even know this one existed until this morning - but, to me at least, it looks like (a) a nice watch and ( a decent rep.
  2. Really useful guide but I'm still confused about SOH versions. As far as I can make out: V2 is better than V1 Biggest indicator is alignment of the P in SuperOcean with the leading A in Automatic V2 has not been made for ages (and probably won't be again) But I've also read about a V1.5 and a V3 (which may or may not be the same thing?) How do the V1.5/3 stand up against the V2? Do we know who supplies which versions? I know advice is normally to email TDs but a bit of info will help me target the emails. Finally, can anyone tell me what this one is at WatchEden? It appears to have P/A alignment and be in stock (unconfirmed). edit: http://www.watcheden.net/breitling-super-ocean-heritage-asia-eta-movement-with-blue-dial-ultimate-version-i-22978-p-1.html
  3. Yep, that buckle would distract from almost any watch.
  4. No, this isn't big. My SUPER Avenger is big, in fact slightly too big.
  5. Picked up a Steelfish from Triplehd and it arrived this morning - it's a V1 21J in a V2 case. More details here: http://www.rwg.cc/topic/152103-sold-fs-the-best-asian-21j-sfso/ Pulled it out of the box and my first thought was "Wow" - this thing crackles with loveliness. So here's the obligatory wrist shot: However.... I've got an black-faced Avenger inbound on a rep strap so I'm planning a bit of a re-shuffle. I won't know for certain until the Avenger gets here but I think I'm going to take the bracelet from this one and put it on the Avenger while the Steel fish will wear a rather nice brown leather strap I got from ronin007. Here's a variety of pics.... Love the watch, love the bracelet and love it on the brown strap.
  6. Hi all I'm looking into getting a SOH V2. I'm sure I'd be very happy with the black one but, ideally, would like a blue one if the blue is a the same blue as gen. I've read a few review on the V2, including the V1/V2 comparison but I can't remember seeing anything about how blue the blue was. (I know some of the Breitling blue's are a bit off (too violet) - I think it was the Avenger) So, any views on how good the blue (specifically) is on the SOH? TIA, Higs p.s. I've been given a couple of links to info on RepGeek about this but they won't let me in there. p.p.s. I know that a rep will always be a rep and if I want absolute gen quality, I'll have to buy gen
  7. needs to thin the herd.

  8. Have you tried emailing some of the TDs? This one came from Reg/Narikaa, so maybe try him first?
  9. Apologies if this has been done to death before - if it has please just point me at the most recent thread. For some reason (probably lack of brain), I find the Omega Seamaster product range very confusing. Can someone give me (or refer me to) a simple guide to Seamasters.... What is a Seamaster? What is a Seamaster Pro? What is a Planet Ocean? What is a Liquid Metal? Which ones have a notched edge to the bezel and which ones have a scalloped edge? It's the gen range that's confusing me - I'll get round to worrying about reps when I understand the gens. Also, I'm not interested in the Bond stuff, certainly not anything with '007' plastered all over it, maybe some of the stuff worn in the films. Thanks, Higs
  10. LOVE that power reserve though (I have a 'thing' about power reserves) Apart from that though, far too much 'stuff' going on. I want one with: hour, minute hands that PR 12, 3, 6, 9 'sandwich' nothing else (although I would probably tolerate seconds)
  11. I've not bothered joining RG. Is it a good place to be banned from?
  12. What's going on near the 'H' of TACHMETRE? Have you squashed a bug or twatted the glass?
  13. New to me today - think it might be my new Friday watch.
  14. Dumb question.... I've looked at these pics a number of times while trying to decide which Breitling is the one for me but I've only just realised that the seconds hand os a different shape between the two. Which is correct? Or are both shapes used in the 'gen'? (maybe different years?)
  15. Can you show an example of the B logo problem? Maybe post a pic of the 'off the peg' and compare to either a good rep or your gen dial? edit: the reason I ask is because I have a white/cream dialled one and the Breitling logo is hard to pick out (it's silver on a light dial, tiny and I really ought to get some reading glasses) but I'm pretty sure it has a loop on the B.
  16. Is there anything with PR but without date, or at least without cyclops? I'd be prepared to compromise on other 'demands' but I really don't want a cyclops.
  17. Hi I've had a good look around so, if the answer to this is really obvious, please don't blame me - I've tried but I'm just a bit crap at looking I'm after a Panerai that would (ideally be): 44mm Polished steel case Not Destro Simple: Arabic numerals @ 12, 3, 6, 9, stick at rest Simple: Hour and Minute hands only Must have Power Reserve Would prefer no seconds hand (but not a deal-breaker) Brown dial (chocolate/tobacco) - don't mind if sandwich or sausage Does such a thing exist? Higs
  18. As an aside, is that Omega real or a rep? I really like it.
  19. It's in the original post - it's a Heroic18 Limitied Gator in Tobacco. I'm interested to know if it has a Breitling buckle on it?
  20. I guess it's a bit like replica watches - some people are only concerned about how much pleasure they get from it while others fret about how close it is to 'gen'.
  21. I am completely un-qualified - I don't own any Breitlings (yet) and have never seen the gen version of this but..... If you offered me both those watches I'd take the one on the leather strap. It just seems to have more 'presence'. Looking closer the detail may be better on the v2 i.e. the numerals on the chapter ring but overall I still prefer the older one. This may be entirely due to the darker strap setting off the dial better. It would be useful to see both watches again with the straps swapped over.
  22. I wear a garmin GPS watch for running - gives me distance and pace info on the move and logs my route so I can download it when I get back. Or for mountain biking, I wear a G Shock. Either would be suitable for something like that toughmudder.
  23. Love the 'Penarai Lomunir' with spy-cam!
