  1. Hello:

I've been reading the forum for a long while, and I am happy I found this place.

My family owns a small watch manufacturing company in the Far East (We have a shop in Taiwan manufacturing watch cases, bracelets and most of the metal parts of watches; An accessory factory in GD province, China, manufacturing dials, hands, crystals and other parts.) We provide OEM cases, bracelets, and most of watch parts mainly supplying to Western European customers with quality horological parts at very competitive prices.

Business was okay in the past decade. However, the financial crisis in the recent years has set back order volume badly and we realized that OEM alone is no longer the future direction.

Since, 2007 we've planned to develop our own brand. Unlike our experience in manufacturing high quality precision makings, we have had no previous experience with marketing and branding. A lot of time and resource was spent on trying to figure out the best way in this new area. We have recently launched our official website.

www.allankuefer.com Since this website is still under development, there are a lot of sections that are not yet completed. We will have more information and data to fill in in order to create the perfect website.

Our short term plan is to create sterile/homage watches of major brands to show case our ability in quality and precision. And in the near future we will start to feature our own design items.

I'd like to ask if we can post project development blog & design pictures on your forum. So, we may attract potential customers in the future when a complete product is made. Or do you have a sponsorship program that we can participate to promote our watches in the future?

    Thanks

    Allan K.

  2. Guys, you really have to see things Swatch group sees.

By cutting off supply of ebauches, it'll cut a lot of small brands (whether truly really Swiss or not) that are not belong to the group out of the loop, thus increases sales to Swatch group owned brands.

    So, why not?

Sellita movement parts are not interchange-able with ETA's. But Sellita movement can surely fits the watchcase, dial, hands that were designed and make for ETA movements. However, it's still not the best solution to the ex-pact merchandisers' point of view.

Can Sea-gull be good enough as a reliable substitute of ETA or Sellita blank movements? Ask the members here. Read the posts reporting problems with the Asian clones.

Can Chinese make good enough movements that are of equal quality/durability to their Swiss counterparts? Maybe yes, but it'll surely take another decade or two.

  3. yes!!! Pug is correct

the new sea-dweller rep that we are all waiting for comes with the ETA 2892 that makes for the correct higher crown position! These same reps will also be available with a used gen rolex 1570cal movement for about $2500. They are available now but the first run has some major flaws. Incorrect dial being the biggest issue. Hopefully the one from ANgus is better. It should be out anytime now

ANyone have any updates on this?

Thanks a lot for answering. This piece of information is very valuable for us.

So, if I put an ETA 2892-A2, the case will have the identical rehaut depth and the correct crown/stem position? This is the only important key factor I'm still trying to figure out as the rest cosmetic issues are easy for us to handle.

Please confirm. I will appreciate your help.

By the way, this is really an amazing place! I learnt a lot here.

  4. Hi All and respected watch experts on the forum:

My name is Allan K. This is my first post after following the articles for years here.

I do not know if this is the place to ask this question. If not, please move this article to its proper section, Admin.

I'm planning to make a Sea-Dweller 16600 replica. Having read the ETA 2836-2 movement is not a good choice to build a Rolex replica, I would like to ask which ETA movement would be the best choice?

    Thanks in advance!

    Allan
