  1. I agree, one of the reasons I stuck here when I found the rep game was the easy to navigate and well marked section etc. Compared to RWI which I think is awful to navigate, this place is perfect. I would love a Tudor section too and maybe a Franken section where details of franken builds can be kept together.
  2. Well, I got home last night and couldnt resist having a go. This may be useful for other members but as you can see from the pics above of Freddy's awesome setup is not a 'professional' way of doing things! If I had the slightest ounce of patience I would have waited a week for my press to arrive, but im not so here goes................ I used a variation of Mike's tip with the tube, I actually found a plactic cap that was about 2mm smaller in diameter to the crystal, the cap came from a small leather dye I had lying around and the good thing was it was shallow and looked similar in size/shape to the dies that come with the presses. Once i had removed the old crystal I sat the Sunnydale place and I could push it in fairly tight with my fingers to hold it in place. Then I put masking tape over the crystal and around the case to avoid any marks. With a pen I made small marks on the masking tape in the centre of the crystal and around the diameter, just to show where the crystal was located under the tape. I then taped two pieces of thick leather to one side of a vice, the side that the caseback would be placed against, then placed the case and the cap roughly in place inside the vice, although im sure that that would have worked fine, I had a thought that maybe I should cushion the cap against the vice, so I found a 2cm think piece of rubber that I put inbetween the cap and the vice, I have no idea if this was required or not but it just felt 'better'. Now everything was in place and I slowly, very slowly in fact! turned the handle on the vice, I felt the crystal move and pop in to the case, maybe I was lucky but when I removed the case and took the tape off, it was seated perfectly! I then greased the case back seal, put everything in place and had a look, wow this crystal is awesome! The next jobs on the list is a gen pearl that I have on its way to me, the gen caseback I have on order and the gen rubber that should be with me today! It never ends does it!
  3. WOW! Great build mate, where is that case from?
  4. Very, very nice mate, but if your trying to sell it it needs to go over to the for sale section and I believe you will need VIP status
  5. Yes, you have to email him direct, he then provides correct PP details for payment. I ordered a 1665 dial about 4 weeks ago, it took 4 days to get to the UK, incredible.
  6. Sweeeeeeetttttt! Bloody hell I might use Mike's tip afterall! Dont know if I can wait!
  7. Thanks for the tip Mike, I did bite the bullet and buy the press as I may also have a Datejust project starting soon so It will be useful for that also. My franken UPO, just sourced a Sunnydale crystal.
  8. Cheers, I just bought something similar. Hopefully it gets here soon!
  9. Cheers Sgt, I found a couple of horror stories of smashed crystals etc, so im going to buy a press. Took me far too long to source and I would be gutted if I buggered it!
  10. This can also happen to expensive clubs, I had a cleveland launcher and the head flew off at about 100 miles an hour on to the opposite fairway! Thanks god it was quiet that day!
  11. Hi fellas, Im sure I saw a tutorial on how to fit a crystal without using a press, but im struggling to find it again. Does anyone have any tips or should I stop being so impatient and order a press? Thanks in advance.
  12. Looks good mate, I agree with sgt the gen plexi's make these builds and that insert finishes it off nicely
  13. Well, its all going off this weekend! Just read all this thread and can see both sides of the coin. I dealt with ZK recently and i have to say that in the pm's/emails we sent he came across as a likable guy. Having said that i get why the mods would take his rant in the raffle thread as 'the straw that broke the camels back' and ban him. Unfortunately we dont have the luxury of knowing what was said in the pm's between ZK and the mods, we must however trust that they did the right thing, which im sure they will have done. I will miss his crazy posts, but the threats made against the community mean he has dropped in my estimations and i jusy hope he sees sense before he well and truly alienates himself from everyone, including his forum friends.
  14. Fantastic, I missed out on these parts when they were for sale. You did a great job mate, PM me if it ever ends up for sale!
  15. From experience I would avoid rep golf clubs, I bought a set once and they are very poorly made. The difference between rep clubs and rep watches is that you are buying clubs to improve your game in an already difficult sport, we all know that rep watches dont perform as well as gens but they do a good job at immitating them, with golf clubs your looking for an improvement, and reps, unfortunately, dont cut it. My advice would be to look for a used set on ebay, stick to the big names and look for something made within the last 2/3 years. Golf technology, no matter how much they bang on about it, hasnt improved that much over that course of time. Just my 2c...........
  16. Lovely collection, I would love to own them all. Make sure that Datejust comes my way when your done with it!
