  1. Case knife opener is too thick. Use a razor blade like this: Wedge it in from one side and slowly work your way around. Just don't cut yourself. It's the easiest and cheapest way. I've installed and replaced retaining rings in a hotel room with no press at all using the edge of a wooden table. Anyhow. Good luck.
  2. Congrats. I like the box. Lot better than the cheapass boxes submariners come in. Enjoy it my friend.
  3. Once a month my 1675 may have the correct date. Today is not that day. Changing dates on a 1675 is a recipe for carpel tunnel syndrome.
  4. Well like ssteel said, photos and parts list would be helpful. Seems like the issue could be a lot of things but we are in the dark without more details/pics. If you cant muster that, then you are on your own. The issue could include one or more of the below (assuming we are talking about gen construction 16610 sub): The crystal gasket is too thick thereby expanding the retaining ring such that there is too much friction against the bezelThe bezel is bent due to inproper installationThe retaining ring could also be damaged/bentThe crystal diameter is too wide thereby expanding the gasket too much and thus creating problem already explained in point #1The retaining ring and bezel are not compatible with each other (if you matched a retaining ring from one manufacturer with a bezel from another, very good chance they will not mate properly)something else I am too tired to think about right now
  5. so you are working on a 16610 sapphire bezel/retaining ring? TC parts? Anyhow, the friction washer should be underneath the click spring. Sounds like you have put in on top of the clicker.
  6. I am still too lazy to change the date.
  7. It's not a gilt dial. It's pad printed with gold ink.
  8. Early morning commute in T.O.

  11. Yeah. Ended up being entirely gen . Started with a gen mid case/bezel assembly... Used a ETA movement and Yuki dial until I found a gen 3035 and gen matte MKI dial/hands. Dial alone cost $2500! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I built a 666 once. I had to sell her though and regret it dearly. I used all gen parts. The crystal retaining system of the 16660/16600 is unlike any other Rolex. It's a 3 - part system that has a removable rehaut ring. Extremely difficult to install a crystal without the right tools. Also the gen crystal has different dimensions compared to other sapphire subs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
