No.. the bezel goes on first.. then the retaining ring...unlike previous generations of subs. the retaining ring is slightly thicker at the top and has a lip that overhangs the inside portion of the bezel. it's impossible to mash the bezel over the retaining ring if the ring is installed first

As many of you know, I (along with a few other lucky members) recently acquired a genuine ceramic bezel assembly/dial combo. As I understand it, to properly install the (gen) bezel onto a case (gen, noob, or BP), one must perform the following order of operations: Install crystal and gasket onto the case/rehaut place the 4 springs/bearings/clicker into the holes in the case align the bezel ontop of the springs ensure the white plastic friction ring is installed press the thin metal retaining ring onto the crystal gasket with the lipped portion of the ring securing the bezel in place rotate bezel to ensure smooth rotating action lastly, secure the insert onto the bezel using the gen plastic insert retaining clip Now if the above is true, then I need to somehow remove the insert from my bezel so that I can safely remove the bezel from the retaining ring. Can anyone provide guidance how how to remove the insert properly?

Excellent... I can see the differences between the two dials now.. the alignment of "Date".. as well as font of the 4 lines and spacing of the depth rating. Coronet slightly different as well

pics or it didnt happen

My bezel came fully assembled. If I were to install as is, I would have to press directly onto the ceramic insert itself, which would then apply pressure to the thin metal retaining ring. I do NOT want to do that. I want to remove the insert first so that I can remove the retaining ring. There is no other way to get the ring out without first removing the insert. Or am I missing something?

Yes.. bezel, insert, retaining ring, all came fully assembled

OK..Let me get this straight. To install the bezel assembly, one presses the entire assembly onto the crystal gasket? Doesn't one have to remove the insert, then remove the lipped retaining ring. Thereafter, the bezel goes on first, on top of the bearing springs.. and THEN the retaining ring is pressed on (sans insert). Lastly, after the bezel/crystal is secure, the insert is installed overtop of the retaining ring. I suppose it's theoretically possible to press directly on top of the insert to install, but that seems risky too. I've taken apart a BP bezel/insert and I would reinstall that in exactly that fashion. Finding a die that is proper sized for the thin retaining ring is the challenge. But I am convinced that the insert on the gen must be removed first prior to installation.

I believe there is a plastic retaining clip that holds it in. Just not clear on how to remove it.

He marked the package as 6200 rupees in value...roughly $100. I had to pay $10 in brokerage fees and $15 in taxes.

Yes. Perfectly white. Blue glow

Wtf? That's very strange

That's how to remove a rep insert. I don't believe gen is install with glue/tape.
-
Did someone say vintage rules?
-
That's not an 8mm crown in that rep.

I have a question. What is the preferred method to separate the insert from bezel? Carefully pry it off between the bottom of the insert and the top of the small retaining ring?

looks great on the rubberB. good job

Ryan has a couple on his site: http://intime.co/product.php?id_product=1235

Excellent...I think we are all good. Many thanks everyone. Hope the other 3-4 that bought get exactly what I did. Save the seller in your favourites. Two thumbs up!

Any issues with the dial? Spacing of "1000ft=300m" and Coronet are a touch different. Mind you, I'm comparing it to my no-date.

ok boys.. Anticipation is over. Onto the pics. Parcel was nicely packaged for the journey: It's getting fun now: So far, looking good: Not an expert on the Sub C dial, but looks good to me: Now onto the bezel. Came completely assembled with bezel protector: Springs look legit. Very shiny and perfect welds on the bearing to the spring..unlike the rep springs: Protector removed: Close ups of number engravings: smooth, clean cuts. Platinum sheen: The bezel teeth are are perfectly cut/polished as well.. Not dull/grainy like the BP/Noob bezel teeth: Bezel protector compared to gen (my gen on the bottom): Now the moment of truth. Bezel/insert comparison to my NOS 114060 no-date: Pearl looking good: Only difference I can spot is in the bezel teeth...but the difference is extremely subtle: The bezel teeth of my 114060 is slightly pointier at the bottoms of the scallops, but this can vary minutely depending on the wear of the grinding wheel I suppose. But the overall shape/depth of the scallops is correct. You can make your own conclusions. But as far as I'm concerned, the dial and bezel assemblies are gen. I am open to your comments but I think we are good. many thanks to the OP for directing us this way. Also pat on the back to those that took the plunge to buy it. It was a risk (albeit a small one), but looks like it paid off.
