  1. I've worked with a couple of ST cases. I like them. Yes. Drilling holes in a modern sub case is not easy. But its doable. I went through 8 bits drilling a rep sub c case for my homage project:
  2. Yeah. It's ok.. If you like that sort of thing (uber rare gen dials that ooze timeless style)
  3. Case looks familiar =). I would definitely NOT relume.
  4. Seems to me then that the case was milled properly, but the retaining ring is now too wide. My guess is that a gen 116 will not be wide enuff either. The ring was either made incorrectly and/or was deformed by pressing it in a crystal that was to wide, there by permanently widening the ring(it's happened to me before on a gen 5513 ring). So, a cheap solution might be try an aftermarket 127. It should fit the case, but will be a bit tall. Hence, you could sand it down on a flat table with 600, until it's the same height as the 116. It should be slightly wider and hopefull fit snug with your current retaining ring. I'm fairly certain the 127 is a touch wider than the 116. Worth a try and experimenting with a $10 crystal is cheaper than getting a new ring custom made. Just a thought.
  5. Does the current crystal fit tight or loose on the case? I mean. Can you easily remove it without popping it off from inside or prying it up with a razor blade?
  6. Pearl, crown, crystal are obvious tells. The dial is very good. Case is excellent. This is a great rep for sure.
  7. I've used a satin varnish binder, acrylic paint, and Masa (corn flour). I found masa creates the best texture..regular wheat flour is too fine... But getting the consistency is the key. Obviously no lume with the above ingredients.
  8. I think its really good. Great colour, but texture just slightly off. Looks a bit "dry" and chalky. I'd thicken it up just a touch. To me it has to look like sponge toffee. Or the cross section of a slab of cake before you put the frosting on. Close up of my pre Comex tritium dial:
  9. I had no idea that some 666 casebacks had no engraving.
  10. look further down, JM is selling the loose 1675 bezel only... asking $475. FS Rolex 1675 BEZEL ring, 9315 bracelet links 280 endlinks not sure if he is CONUS
  11. Someone is asking €400 on VRM in blister pack. You could probably get it for $500 USD.
  12. Ha. Saw the same post. Was gonna post it here. You beat me to it! Could probably get it for $3900-4000
  13. No one but you will see the movement. So whats the big deal about the engraving? It's not like you would ever take it to an RSC ever.
  14. "The face full of balls"... Lol
  15. I'm guessing that's a Minh dial from the font spacing.
  16. If it's the flip lock, squeeze the sides together so it applies more pressure to the side of the clasp.
  17. Fantastic review. Thank you for the effort. Enjoy the watch.
  18. Very nice. Insert is superb.
  19. Pfft. No lug holes . It is nice as you would expect from Pdad, but it's got that horrible patina. It's not as bad as the "gen" project X, but still looks quite fake. Mine is less "fake" . Wonder how he did the red triangle. I think he did a good job of that. How much is he charging?
  20. Working on getting a 116610 bracelet to fit. I was a hair off when drilling the lug holes. So the endlinks are not lining up just right. A few close ups. Lugs are beveled contrary to popular belief. Although could use some more. But remember, I'm going for the 10-15 year old homage to an homage look.. So should look a bit over polished. Lugs have been drastically thinned out: Getting the triangle filled in and flush is key in my books: Used Watchlume ivory vintage lume with a tiny speck of yellow acrylic paint: Note how thin the lug tips are compare to a sub c. Homage requires a big diet for that pig: Athaya crown is excellent. Perhaps could be a touch more rounded but tube combo fits like butter: Can't forget to paint the second sweep white: Of course gotta do the platinum paint mod on bezel. I use Tamiya and Mr Cyrstal hobby paints. Again this is not the best Sub C case (it's the SA3135). If I had to do it again I'd use a BP sub C... If for no other reason that the bezel is removable on that one.
  21. I would have a peek. But I'm banned for inexplicable reasons.
  22. With the Athaya crown, I did not realize it comes tapped for a 1.2mm stem. Had to find a 1.2-0.9mm adapter. Finally got that on today. Glad I didn't overdo the patina. On a NATO I had lying around:
  23. Yes. Catalogues fetch handsome amounts on VRM.
