Looks good to me and if its as good at the XVI out of the box i think i'd be happy.... http://www.pureti.me/blog/373/

Hi All,
pleased to say - that i managed to get it going today.... quite pleased with myself as i'd not really been brave enough to play with a mechanism before
Problem was a stuck balance wheel.. took no more than i slight touch to get it moving.
For those noobs like me - I found an excellent resource on that ETA web site that shows full assembly instructions for all their movements... this helped me understand how to remove the auto-wind mechanism and understand what i was looking at !!
Only thing i couldn't 'fix' was the noise... turned out, it was the 'dust cover', it clearly didn't fit properly and moved around under the case back or was touching the auto-winder weight - regardless of how much i tightened the back... to resolve, i've removed it... i'm sure it will be fine
Just in case others want the info - its here:-
https://secure.eta.ch/CSP/DesktopDefault.aspx
click on technical documents, then select 'all product ranges' in the 'product range' drop down - then, in the 'Caliber' drop down menu - choose the mech you are interested in ... voila, tech docs galore...
thanks all..

That's what I'm hoping, it was obviously working in the QC images, so anticipate its caused by the shipping.. Fingers crossed.

Thanks guys, will post tomorrow.... Perhaps Domi can help if needed. to confirm, yes It's the latest version, i believe its a A2892 movement....
Thx again

hi all,
I bought a Mark XVI from a TD a couple of months ago... It's sat in the watch box, and today was the first time I tried it .. Sadly, it's completely DOA, I can't get the movement going, the date wheel won't adjust and it sounds very noisy. I've just had the black off and don't see anything obvious, tomorrow I'll take a closer look, but I'm assuming its my turn to get a dud.
Guess I learnt my lesson for not testing when it arrived !
assuming I can't get it going (limited know how) can anyone offer any advice or recommend perhaps someone on the forum that could take a look.... Presumably based in the UK.
Thanks,
kev

Really like your IW356504 - i reckon thats next on my list... still looking to see which one Portafino i like best... but that is a front runner...
-
I went for the v2 XVI.... love it ! - now trying to work out what the best Portafino is (researching at the moment, hence in this forum )
-
I had a similar issue on a 111.... Turned out to be a loose screw on the ratchet wheel... So I agree, just whip of the back and do a quick check before sending anywhere

Fair enough.... Policing always means work for someone, I guess that's the problem. I have been on forums that require an invitation from a senior member, kinda works but is a total ball ache...
-
Pic please... Would love to see it !!

Looks great... Added to wish list

To be fair, I was prepared to pay, but couldn't Are that's a reasonable step if it can be reintroduced..

Welcome to this awesome forum !

I'm a noob that did business with Mike... As he said, you have to start somewhere... So please give them a chance. Saying that, nobody likes the Wild West..noobs even more so as we are more likely to get scammed. Mike and I had a lot of dialog before we transacted, and I certainly had a confidence level based on that, as I'm sure did he. One thing you could do, is perhaps look for trading experience on other types of forums...as whilst new to this forum and watches as a whole, I think a lot of noobs may be frequent forum users on other topics... Example, I'm a AV guy, with 15+ years posts and trading history on AVforums, with significant trading history.... Maybe such things could be used as a basis to work out 'credible forum use'. scammers and sharks always exist, but I like this forum because it welcomes noobs to the hobby, this in turn has led to both private and dealer transactions, fuelling the Rep economy.....if you make the barriers to entry too high, membership will stunt and then people will moan that there is no activity... And the economy will slow for all involved. I'd like the forum to self police... Especially the sales threads.... There are a lot of experts here who can an do share opinions on sales threads.... More of it please! I've now bought 5 reps in 4 months.... If the forum had been too blocking, I'd have considered it to closed and likely not gotten involved. Keep on buying, I have the bug Kev

Hi guys,
Just an update as it may help other Noobs... I was brave enough to take apart my watch after some reading... mainly here:-
&
http://thewatchguy.homestead.com/pages/repair.html
After reading these - i bought a some tools (case removal ball, magnifier & screwdrivers) and had a go..
with the guides above, it was easy to get the movement out then adjust the hands.... this then revealed another problem of constant stopping at a around 40 seconds... This baffled me a bit, but in the end turned out to be a loose screw on the ratchet wheel... i quick half turn, and all was well.
So for any noobs - have a go.. but do reading like i did... had i not read the articles posts above, i may well have over loosened the stem holding screw - and would not have known about 'letting down' the mainspring which may have been interesting
I now consider my watch craft at 2/100 (from 0)
Thanks,
Kev

Remember to tell us how you get on and if you get stuck then ask before you break something.
thanks - appreciate the support...

This is a super EASY fix, all you would need is a small screw driver, tooth pick and some time. In the end all you need is to press the hands down alittle.
thanks... I wasn't sure how to get the movement out - but having done more research since the original post, is does look relatively simple to get at.... so i'll use this as an opportunity to cut my teeth on playing modder and see if i can do it this week.

Hi all,
I've recently taken delivery of a PAM111 NooB rep as my chrimble present... unfortunately, it looks like the the hands are not fitted properly, and the second hand is stopping the hour hand at around 8.00 (therefore stopping the watch).... I could send it back to China but frankly, i suspect it needs a minor adjustment....
Therefore - i'm looking for a recommended guy in the UK that would be happy to take a look at it for me ??
Was very frustrating as i thought the movement was faulty, but i noticed the watch stopping at approx the same time, and with a little testing was able to replicate easily... (the tiniest movement on the hands releases the second hand and it all moves again)
Failing that - how easy is it to take appart these reps and get to the dial ? If i open the case, can i remove the insides as a complete unit ? I dont really want to start messing with the internals..
Thanks,
Kev
