  1. Well, I successfully opened it with a 12" adjustable wrench! It was the only thing big enough that I had on hand that would fit around the case. Another difficulty with this watch was that the notches on the case back aren't parallel, making opening the case back without scratching it difficult but not impossible.

  2. Thanks for the input guys. I did tell the gym and they called the police immediately, as my credit cards and other property were stolen also. Funny thing, I told the office that that watch was gift and I estimated the value around $2000. I did have a combo lock on the locker but it apparently was a old, shitty locker and someone forced the door open without removing the lock. Just a word of caution to everyone.

Great suggestions, I guess I'm back in the game for a new watch, or two, just in case.

  3. Thanks for clearing that up, I was never sure about the 21J movement, but maybe I'll get my first Pam now. Had a 7750 Tag Carrera before, nice watch but the movement was... eh.

  4. So yesterday someone broke into my gym locker and stole my Carrera (rep) along with some other stuff. So I guess the glass is half full, and this gives me an excuse to buy another rep. Any suggestions of what I should get. I loved the Carrera, but the chronograph's second hand would sometimes get stuck at 59 sec, so I was thinking about getting another Carrera (black face, like before) with the hope that this watch wouldn't have this problem. Any suggestions of other watches I should look at, Tags or otherwise?

  5. In the marker for a new watch. Had a Tag Carrera chrono, but it was stolen today. So I've been looking at some Pam Power Reserves, any opinions on these or the Asian 21J movement?

    Thanks.

  6. Yes, just wind it in a clock-wise direction. I gave it about 25 turns to start it up, after that your normal arm movements spin the rotor inside to supply momentum to the movement. No, you can't overwind it, and the full power reserve is on the order of 42 hours or so.

  7. I once had the same problem.I screwed the crown out till it was to set the date. Started the chronograph for about 40 sec. , pushed on stop, and resetted it. This worked for me, maybe i was just lucky, hope it will fix yours also.

Sounds like the chrono minute hand is stuck. it is holding up the chronograph when the minute counter tries to change. Try the above suggestion, try working it out by running the chrono on a FULL wind, and if that doesn't work it sounds like a service is the fix.

Worked like a charm! Thanks very much! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  8. I have the orginal OEM bracelet and there is very little difference (th links are slightly thicker). Indeed, I was quite surprised how well done the rep bracelet was (even the pin in the sleeve to remove links). Save your money, if you dislike the replica bracelet you will dislike the OEM

Thanks for the info, I'll save my $$$ for a Planet Ocean!

  9. looking at the gen on the tag site and the rep shows that the numbered markers (sorry dont know the correct name) just inside of the bezel are wrong. The rep shows 60 to be at 12oclock whereas the gen doesn't, is this intentional?

mmmm, I don't follow. Is this the watch you're refering to: Link? Because they both show 60 on the bezel of the tachymetre at 12 o'clock.

  10. Check here... not cheap: TH SS bracelet

Wow, no kidding, costs more than my watch!

I can't wait to get mine, just hope there won't be surprises :(

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Great looking watch. From pics of the gen on the Tag website, the only discernible difference is that the gen's dots and hour markers luminesce, while only the dots do on the rep. Can't tell about the date font, but looks close enough to me.

mdub did you compare genuine band with replica band?

Maybe genuine bracelet feels cheap as well....

    Thanks

No, I haven't compared. Considering the price of the replacement strap, I think I will before purchasing. It was going to be a "down the road" purchase anyways.

    Thanks for the feedback.

  11. Just received my new Tag Heuer Carrera. :thumbsupsmileyanim: The watch looks great, runs great, feels great. My only complaint is that the band feels cheap. It looks good, but feels cheap (thin, light, and has a lot of play in it) and you have to press down hard to make sure the clasp shut all the way. Not a huge deal, I'm very satisfied overall. In fact, I like this watch so much that I would like to get an authentic stainless band. Any thoughts where?

On a side note, I was at the mall today and stopped in a jewelry store to have some links taken out as I didn't have the tools (not yet anyways) to do it myself. The guy complemented me on my watch, but I got the sense he might have thought it was a replica after only after taking it into his hands and feeling the band, but he didn't say anything. No, they didn't sell upscale watches at said store.

    Pardon the poor photography skills.
