  1. I have to admit- I miss those old days...

I remember when buying an MBW was like pulling teeth. But once you were in, you were in (so long as you didn't [censored] off Maria). There was a lot of enjoyment (for me) to 'leaf' through a dealer's photobucket account to see what was new, or just to window shop. There was an interesting mystique to the hobby indeed; very underground feeling, which I think was a lot of the intrigue. Times were far more simple for the hobby back then... Operating on a much lower profile. Amazing what just a few years' difference can make.

While keeping things small and exclusive is nice, I do believe that having a larger audience to market to not only helps drive new product development to deliver on the demands of commerce and demand, but is also a natural step in the evolutionary process (growth as a result of... growth. Yes, profound... I know :p). We've had a lot of very interesting reps introduced into the market over the past few years; I'd like to think that these things were made possible by increasing demand for new and better quality pieces on a wider scale. The tailored click and buy e-commerce websites (which was, I believe pioneered by Paul/aBay as one of the first in rep sales to adopt this strategy) just makes for easier access to the goods by the masses...

Does it matter which way, or should you buy the way you prefer?

  2. the strap is a rep! one of the new breeds that just came out.its gorgeous.and they have started offering double coated AR on the BCE and BSFs so hopefully they will add it to all breitlings in the future...

I thought the ones that joshua and andrew have are AR coated. I'm looking to get the blue face and with all the research i did Ar was mentioned in both advertisements.

  3. Okay, I understand your point about a different rolex or maybe an omega. But here is the kicker...

What other rolex? I'm not really into the date just (have one , haven't worn it in 5 years) and I'm not sure about the monaco. As to the Omegas, I like the orange bezel POs. With what research I have done, the 4th generation PO is the way to go. Checking on andrew and joshuas sites... I only see the 4th generation PO in a 42mm. I definately have to have a 45mm. Can't seem to find one.

Also, on aside I have a reason to get the rolex as stated before. I feel like I'm cheating if I get the omega or a diff. rolex. Any arguements why a rep and not the Gen. Other than the obvious price difference. I'm really not trying to be watch snob but there is a whole other world when it comes to the Reps. and I'm just learning about it.

  4. I have searched for a dealer and I came up with Joshua. Here is my dilemma:

As I said beforeim another post... I have a 50th anniv. LV but my job dictates that I move around alot and It is very hard on my watches. I decided to get a REP so I didn't destroy the GEN. So I have found the one I want... but there are two, one is $200 more than the other: Is the following Value added worth the $200 more?

    Value Added

Modifications : Watch Case, Crown Guards is modded to correct shape as genuine. Bracelet edges is modded smooth and whole bracelet is repolished to hariline low sheen finish.

Waterproofing : Additional seals are add on and watch is pressure tested to 5 bars... 50m waterproofing..

Movement is completely overhaul and re-assembled, serviced and re-lub with 5 different types of Swiss imported movement lubricant, Calibration to +5 secs per day.

Thanks for any opinion on this!
