  1. Another interesting one I've found http://www.ritmomundo.com/collection/quantum/quantum-ii-small-red
  2. A different colour combo or the same? I love this one, two different bezels and three different straps came with it, so lots of combinations to play with
  3. Nooooo!!!! Sod the solid case back, a trained monkey could make one of those. The talent that has gone into desigining and creating any watch movement is far more impressive! (and I know these are reps but they're still more than I could make with my own hands!)
  4. This lot are trying it... I am still having difficulty believing this is actually a real auction:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121236462386 A poor Bulova 218 that has been given an ugly face pack of lume, some form of horrid neolithic home made dial, a minute hand that looks like its been torn off and then straightened back out by Mike Tyson with two sledge hammers, whilst blind fold, and lastly the lume stirring stick has been made into a seconds hand. Haven't these people even heard the word 'practise'?
  5. Before today I thought that the reps of the ceramic POs just didn't do it for me, thinking that the gens would, as usual, ooze quality and luxury and feel gorgeous. So whilst doing some xmas shopping I went into one of the jewellers in our town centre and tried on a pumpkin and black bezel ceramic POs. There's only minor changes between the last version and these versions, I know that, nothing big enough to change the whole feel of a watch, but it just has somehow. Hands just a bit too chubby and fat, the gaps surrounding the top triangle in the ceramic bezel a tiny bit bigger and the silver coloured inner ring on the pumpkin insert a tiny bit wider, the square 3/6/9 markers, the clasp isn't inscribed with the model and hasn't got those tiny overhangs either end that cover up the gap nicely. Lots of tiny little things. I feel as if they updated the old POs design in good ways, but just kinda forgot to put it through the final "make the tiny tweaks that make it perfect" phase. Or as if they've pandered to the stylistic buyers and are trying a bit too hard. I'm frankening a 42 and a 45mm old version POs, and I wanted a gen at some point and thought I was just imagining all these little things, and when I tried a gen on I'd love it, as I did with the last version. But the weddings off! The new floozy has too much make up on for my liking! Time to go grovelling back to the old version and hope she'll still love me P.S. I know I've knocked the ceramic verson a lot, another reason I wanted to try a gen on, to either prove me wrong, or make me promise I'll never mention them again
  6. You have no idea how much I'm waiting for the postman to deliver a certain oblong package....!
  7. Nice. There's a couple of Steinharts from their website that I feel calling to me:- http://www.steinhartwatches.de/en/Marine-Officer-Grey,430.html and http://www.steinhartwatches.de/en/Ocean-vintage-GMT,339.html Well, there's loads of them but those are the two that would slot nicely into my current modest collection.
  8. Oh I know the cheif is a good egg. We just have to find out who sold him the forum...
  9. Ok, I can't find a Forum Feedback section anywhere, so lets' start by posting this here The M2M Sales forum has this post:- http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/165287-sold-any-price-for-this-pam512/ Go to Advanced Search. Do a search for the member who made the original post : "No Results" Do a search for "pam 512" : "No Results" Do a search for "pam512" : "No Results" Change "Any Words" / "All Words" option, no change. Adjust any other option you want - "No Results" Do a search for my username : "No Results" I think it's broke. Obviously a cheap chinese rep search function from Canal St.
  10. I bet you watched that antelope, watched that buffalo, watched that crocodile!
  11. +1 on these watches, the last few raffles have been amazing value for the cost of entry + the VIP membership costs and then of course you get to play in the VIP lounge
  12. I certainly wouldn't get it restored, it looks lovely as is apart from that blob as you say. I think you will need to cast your enquiry net a whole lot further. The first person that springs to mind is Yddgrasl (sp?) as she professionally paints dials on watches and clocks. She will know a heck of a lot about how various paints change colour as they dry, which types of paint to use, how to prep the area, but most likely she may be able to point you towards someone who can do what you want. Or at least put you in touch with someone who'll know. It can't hurt to ask!
  13. See this and here http://danevych.com/en/portrait.html
  14. RWG 1.1 have turned TapaTalk back on again after they (TT) did a U turn about the decision to insert adverts into forum groups.
  15. I like them, but I'd always be going "Uuuum, I have no idea what the hell they mean!" (Ok, I know it in principal, but I'll never understand the mathematical side of it all)
  16. Very interesting about Thorium, and good that its been rejuvenated and may hopefully get somewhere. If a reactor has already been built it shouldn't take that long either. Geothermal power is great if you're local to it. I don't really know the viability of making geothermal power plants big enough and enough of them to power the world? I think that's the main problem, scaling things up to be a viable alternative to coal and oil fired power stations we use now. I've got solar panels on my house and they cut my fuel bills by a third, I'm looking into adding battery storage so I can use the generated power during the evening and night, should see my self use go up from a third to two thirds, problem is batteries cost an absolute fortune!! Deep cycle lead acid or li-ion. I have found batteries at less than half the usual cost but they come from China, on AliBaba and you've no idea if you're getting new or recycled old crap, and spending £2k and finding out they're crap would make me a little mad
  17. The font is different between the white and the OPs dial which would agree with a different generation of dial? Also have there been rep dials where the rehaut is a piece of the dial?
  18. This is why they are TDs, when problems happen (often outside their control) they will still work with you and resolve the problem. Personally I'd have chosen a different watch unless you are determined to get that watch.
  19. If you asked like 3 or 4 weeks ago I'd leave it for another couple of weeks.
  20. The hack mechanism is delicate and (I think this is right) may probably be the most frequent repair in rep watches, (plus I hate setting a watch when I'm in a hurry to get to work!) so I like to keep my autos on a watch winder. It's never bothered any of them so far. Most of my manual watches don't have a date, so it's just a case of simply setting the time.
  21. I think you're right, under oil is always better than over in these cases. Also things like if you're oiling a stem / shaft, do you put the drop of oil on and then work it all around and evenly up and down the length? Or just leave it as a drop and let the natural action of the watch distribute the oil? And oiling jewels, is the drop placed in the recess?
