  1. I took a couple of pics of the scratches and replies to the For Sale thread letting the seller know what I thought. A bit unkind perhaps, but I tried to be polite and just let the seller know that packing things well would be appreciated by me and every other buyer he dealt with. As panerai153 said, just imagine someone playing footie with the package - would the contents survive intact and in perfect working condition? I know a lot would say "They'll never treat packages like that!" but just do a search on YouTube, there's lots of videos showing delivery people throwing packages around, into the back of trucks, out the back of trucks, other boxes landing "Thump!" on top of your little box.
  2. For the sake of a 1" x 5" piece of bubble wrap, a 1/2" by 4" piece of old cardboard and 3 bits of sellotape, the bracelet I received today has nice scratches on the clasp and a deep ding to boot. The seller is a member on another forum (RG), but it's only common sense! Take a minute and bloody pack whatever it is properly!! God! Morons! <rant over>
  3. Too many Pams and Rollies So I'll wear two today
  4. Thanks for your advice These were NOS, they all looked brand new and unused - no dirt or marks from being pulled or used. Seller said he's got a few hundred right now and has sold thousands with very little returns, thinks he may have a bad batch. I love those water proof " do not take near water" watches
  5. I bought 3 cheapy quartz ISA 1198 movements the other day as I want to build a couple of beaters that I don't have room for on the winder. (Well, I say cheap, $12 a piece) Got them today. Oh. Dear. God. Movement 1. Date wheel jammed. Date wheel ratchet spring disengaged. Fixed the spring, freed the wheel. Date does not change when advancing the time. Movement 2. Date does not change when advancing the time, adjusting the time the crown is that stiff it unscrews the crown from the stem! Movement 3 is ok. And I haven't even put a battery in any of them yet! Seller is sending out 3 replacement movements and has asked me to send these back. Send them to the bin more like it.
  6. Been waiting for a Hublot black n gold skeleton tourbillon to come up for sale for aaages now!
  7. Summer Seiko, blazing hot one to match the weather over here at the minute!
  8. Glad they're OK (although I can't see the police seizing *them*!) I hope they can source another UPO for me that they had on the way to them, no one else could.
  9. Sorry, it wasn't a criticism, it was just a question. (like / dislike of any watch is a subjective matter so it makes no sense for me to criticise anyone elses taste, I can just say how I feel about a watch!)
  10. Ah, the gen looks like that. That explains it then. I still think it looks odd
  11. Why is the seconds hand really white and looks brand new and the hour & minute hands look aged? Looks odd.
  12. I won't get this for about a month, but just ordered one of these It's going to be a looong month!
  13. I I wear any watch tight my wrist & hand swell up, making it tighter, making it swell up more, etc. Titanium backs don't do this so much, but I've just got used to wearing them a little loose and shaking the wrist now and then
  14. Aha! Now I understand. Well, I don't understand why the troll posted what they did, but I do your post
  15. Beautiful. I'm still annoyed they decided to send someone else to Alaska instead of me, would have been 2 weeks with loads of time to explore. One place to take a holiday me thinks.
  16. I plan on taking dozens of pics and maybe have a video camera recording everything too so I can refer to that when I'm reassembling. Hopefully after a dozen or so times it'll become second nature.
  17. The web link is wrong, it's just going to the results of a search for all Omega Seamaster Professional Chronograph, showing them all.
  18. WTF? Can I have some of what you've been drinking?
  19. Looking closely at the pictures on EBay it seems that there are at least three sizes of the same tool. This is the largest looking one I can find, comes with dies upto 40mm and I ordered a set of extra large dies for it too that go upto 53mm. The smaller models I don't think you could even fit a 45mm watch into them, never mind press out / in the 40mm crystal. So definitely watch which one you buy.
  20. Hahaha, if I want to post / see lots of that I go and visit the loonies at chew-the-fat.org.uk Haha, I think that stuff isn't allowed in the General forum!
  21. Crystals in cases that is Just got my crystal press and been playing around. Blimey, its so damn easy with the right tools! This one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400526775138 In case anyone UK is looking for one.
  22. Thanks Mike. I read on TCs blog that he couldn't make a deal with Sellita as they wouldn't sell him the small quantities he wanted, and he'll order far more than I ever would. I'm talking with TC and he's said that the movements he has made are clean and properly oiled, so they sound ideal. Maybe not ETA or Sellita top grade but the reviews certainly put them above average ETAs, Sellitas, etc. He replies to emails in normal human time, and I'm very, very tempted by his TC Factory Rolex YM, so I'll see if I can get one of those and two movements ordered for a couple of $ off
  23. I don't think there are dozens of places to see them. I don't think there are any places to see them that are vendors. If we could walk up town and look at, handle and feel high quality reps why would we all be buying from around the world and taking risks on customs confiscating our new toys and having to wait weeks sometimes before getting them? I think your only bet is to turn up at the next members meet up and see what people have bought to that. If you're new don't be surprised if some wont show you their really high end modded reps Keep your eye in this general forum for an announcement of the next M2M meeting in your area. (Or country)
  24. From what I have read off a few people here, Andrew and Angus do prefer to sell stock from a particular factory, Noob or H. I can remember which way around it is though.
