  1. Even though being a big fan of the (classic) Safari, the Panda certainly is one of the best looking AP ROOs ever. And yes, if you want to have the "real thing" you indeed need the moddings, especially the case thinning is of utmost importancy to get it feel right. Good luck!

Hi guys, I'm looking for a cheap Speedmaster rep to start my Omega collection. Can you guys recommend anything? Many thanks.  Michael.

The quartz Speedys with two subdials and microstepper would probably be a good choice to start with. Since they don't have a small sec no one will even notice it's a quartz, and no subdial issue too.

  3. My first Breitlings ever, two Transoceans just arrived, and even though I wanted to see them IRL to decide which one I should keep I now love them both so they are keepers all together. Well, at least for the time being... winkCA3D11ZE.gif

But, and this is a big but (with one t, guys... cool.gif), the deployment is a real PITA. WTF did they think to make that piece of metal (see pic) on the inside so that it always is supposed to hurt by design? :frusty:

I'd just love if anyone would have a solution. Any and all ideas are welcome and very well appreciated.

  4. Actually we can skip BP as clearly being not very good, but the SWF version seems to be the best, have a look at the pictures, they got the concentric circles right as well as the two-tone lume (hands vs. markers) and the sunburst, even the engravings on the backside are very good (not that I would care very much for that). Of course the rotor of the ZF is better decorated, but IMO that does not matter the slightest bit on a closed caseback anyway.

So actually my vote goes for the SWF, but I would like to make use of the wisdom of the forum, what do you guys think?

  5. Hello guys,

apparently we face two versions of the new 2014 Safari, one from JF and one from Noob

Whilst the straps are really crappy anyway I'd be interested which one would be better. I figured one difference, that's the fixing of the rotor where Noob is gen-like and JF fails, plus the Noob font of the datewheel is correct and JF is not.

Some good pictures of the genuine for comparison can be found here http://bit.ly/1yNB7ri

So my dear fellow AP admirers, what do you think? smiley.gif

  6. Hi all,

about one year ago I purchased this nice HBB http://bit.ly/1m0LaUb plus, as an upgrade, the bracelet you can see at this watch http://bit.ly/1m0M9nz. Unfortunately the bracelet came without the smaller faceplates which are needed to properly mount it to the watch. You are probably able to see the difference looking at the watches shown at the links.

I tried to get those faceplates from Puretime, but no luck. :wounded1:

So I would be very grateful if anyone could point me to a source for those little pieces, any help would be greatly appreciated.

  7. So now you got me, guys, I ordered a 44mm like the one seen at the comparison http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/168558-44mm-ap-roo-ss-rep-vs-gen-comparison/.

However, I am not a rubber strap guy nor do I like tang buckles, I do prefer nice leather straps and deployants.

So, looking e.g. at croc straps like those http://bit.ly/1payRGi I think the colors could make a good fit. However, given the size of the watch I would not use the standard ROO 42mm deployant, that would most probably be too tiny.

So what would you suggest - or am I the only one thinking about a strap change? B)

Any and all ideas are very well appreciated. :)

  8. A good friend of mine owns several watches of the abovementioned series like this one http://bit.ly/NtBzZg and is facing the problem that the white rubber straps tend to get miscoloured, most likely due to having contact with her Jeans and unfortunately she did not happen to clean them up successfully, so this leads to two questions:

    1. Can anyone suggest a really good cleaner for those straps?

    2. Besides the usual strapmakers, is there a source for rep leather straps for Ladies AP RO watches?

Thanks mates, any and all advice is well appreciated.
