  1. FINALLY found this watch, after much trial and error. Ordered it from many dealers, both trusted and non trusted and they all would tell me they had it in stock but then right before shipping it out tell me they didn't, and in 2 cases (non trusted dealers) sent me the wrong watch. Finally saw that Perfect Clones had it, (which I don't think they did when this post was created) and ordered it. Josh was super nice and fast and answered all my questions. Sent it out fast but it spent almost 2 weeks in US customs. It is as accurate to the original as I need it to be, considering I was very close to just buying a Tiger homage. Think I'm going to wear it as is for a year or 2 before aging it. Also, they say the bezel is unidirectional but it's not, moves both ways like the original. I am a bigger Bond fan than a watch fan but I've learned a ton about watches and reps from the help of this site. Now that I have this and the Skyfall Seamaster, I aim on having a watch worn by each Bond actor.  :)

  2. The replacement Omega Speedy is on its way, and Andew from TT confrimed that he has the 6538 in stock.

Will critique the Speedy in another post and will continue the hunt for the 6538 here.

Still doing research on building a 6538 eventually and may need advice on rep parts, gen parts, etc.

I also went with an Omega, the Skyfall Seamaster with glass back. Good to know TT deff has the Rolex.

  3. Well, lesson learned not to go outside the trusted dealers. After finally recieving my order from theonewatch, I ended up getting a Sub that was nothing at all like what was pictured. They told me they would pay to have it shipped back (which they did) and would mail me the correct watch. 3 days later they email me that the manufacturer is all out of the watch, and refunded me my money. So now I am back to ground zero :(

If anyone can send me links where I can find this watch, or build one under 250 I would greatly appreciate it, preferably places that accept paypal. It's so weird that such a famous watch is one of the harder ones to find good reps of.

  4. I've placed my order as well and sent payment today. I've even ordered my first Spring Bar Tool to use when I receive the black "Dr. No" crocodile strap.I'm about to order from TT.  This may be fun.  lol

Good to hear about the quick fixes on the hacking and clicking.

haha I was planning on doing the same, however that watch has a fixed lug bar I think, not spring.

  5. I was also concerned about the incorrect hacking, bezel direction and clicking.  But I figure these things would be addressed once I send it off to get modified.

I am concerned now that since I just went through a lengthy process of registering and tried to order from Theonewatch, I'm taken to a window that says "We are sorry to inform you that: This transaction from www.theonewatch.net is counterfeited and rejected by the system.

    What does this mean???

No idea, I didn't run into this problem at all. I do know if you email their Gmail account they should get back to you with answers within the next few hours.

  6. Vinnie, the only one that is close is this http://www.theonewatch.net/Watches/Swiss+Catalog/Rolex+Swiss/SUBMARINER/ROLEX+-+Vintage+50s+James+Bond+Sub+6205+SSAndNato+Blk+A-2836_10569.html

They call it a "6205" but that is the wrong watch for a 6205, and you want a 6538. I don't think it matters much as the 'look' is about the same. But it does say what they know - and don't know. They list one in 'asian' but have no picture.

They list the bezel as being unidirectional, but it should be bidirectional and no clicks. They say it is a hacking movement, it shouldn't be but I'd guess most other dealer's watches need that mod as well.

This is not one of our recommended dealers, so you are on your own. I hope you get your watch, and it's close to what you wanted. .

Thank you for the info, but I am only buying it for looks, and the unidirectional bezel and hacking movement are more than fine to me. I understand it is not a recommended dealer, but I've read a handful of the reviews off this site and others about it and everything is positive. They have kept in contact, and answered every question honestly and I have a Fedex tracking number. They guaranteed its exact as what pictured, and can return it within 30 days if anythings wrong. I also paid with Paypal which has its 45 day dispute claims if I have any problems. I understand even with all this something can go wrong but as of now I see no reason to feel uncomfortable about my buy. I do appreciate every ones concern and wishing me luck and in time I will either be posting pictures of my new watch or writing the seller a nasty review on here.

  7. Sweet! I'm learning that many of these dealers carry product from the same factory or the same dealer may have more than one site. I can get a little confusing if you're a stickler for detail like I'm trying to be.

I think this may be a great one for me to start off with, until I gather enough nerve to actually build one. I already have the corrct 18mm NATO strap on order as well.

I also already have the correct strap, (remember green stripes outlined in red on black, not the widely believed gray stripes!) Was very surprised by how thin a 18mm strap really is. :)

  8. Isn't that the exact same watch I found on TT's site and posted a pic of earlier but cheaper?  Even the the pics are the same.

Most likely, thats why I brought mine up. I originally was going to use TT, but if I remember correctly they don't take Paypal, and thats what I wanted to use. After A LOT of searching I found this watch on that site for way cheaper than other sites had it, with free shipping, and they take Paypal. I'm still waiting for the watch to show up (fingers crossed that its exactly whats pictured) but so far they have been amazing with keeping in contact and answering questions via email.

  9. I looked on that site vinnie, the only 6538's are these two and they are far from accurate imo. There's actually so many things wrong I'm too lazy to list them all... But a pic is worth a thousand words, I hope the one you ordered was not one of these.

No, I was this one, a 6205, sorry a bit off topic http://www.theonewatch.net/Watches/Swiss+Catalog/Rolex+Swiss/SUBMARINER/ROLEX+-+Vintage+50s+James+Bond+Sub+6205+SSAndNato+Blk+A-2836_10569.html
