  1. There is a possibility that the dial is the original to the watch, but redialed. Doesn't mean it's fake, just redialed (not a great job if so). Also, that bezel insert, as mentioned, is definitely not a natural fade. If the seller is legit, do as other have mentioned and get it authenticated after purchase. If the seller is legit, they would either do that for you or allow it to be done.

  2. I have a UX. The gen Sinn rubber is excellent. NO way would I put a rep strap on a gen watch. If the Ti buckled version is too expensive, just do the standard or tegimented version. The teg looks very close to ti color wise. The standard not much off. They do show up on other sites occasionally. Sometimes cut, sometimes not.

The Isofrane is a great strap as well. The Sinn rubber is fitted so it looks better IMO. Deep Blue makes a strap that is top quality and is similar to the Isofrane. Good option as well. I have one, and bang for the buck, a great rubber strap. Very vanilla smelling too.

  3. Finding gen hands is probably the toughest part. Also, a superdome is another difficult one. You have the key players. I would go all in and source as much gen as possible. Or, if you want quick, pick up the full case set from yuki to get started. Source the rest as you can, and go from there. Considering a gen 5513 is now around 5k you can get very, very good for much less. I now wish I had never sold mine!

  4. This one is from Trusty Time. Anyone have experience with this one? Just curious what, if any, gen parts it can take? Seems the most significant tell of these is the slightly wider second hand. Also, the dial font seems a tiny bit wider too. Thinking maybe a gen dial and hands if the case/movement would take them. This one has the Asian 2982, which is the same movement (though highly modified) as gen.

  5. The spider dials are actually a run of dials (I think there is a serial # series) that had an incorrect paint job. They were a warranty replacement if the watch went in for service. Funny how a messed up paint job becomes a collector!

And, I agree. A gen bracelet is the only way to go on that watch.

  6. This is a thread that really irks me regarding Rolex. It had a rep bracelet, big deal. Has nothing to to do with the watch as a whole. I'm completely aware of Rolex's service policies. My question is this, had you taken it in on any old leather of X brand, would they have serviced it then? If so, what is the difference?

    Very nice 5513 though!

  7. As other have mentioned, that case price is crazy... Not a chance would I spend that for a so-so case on a rep. Also, that crown looks too big, but might just be angles.

I have a slow beat JMB build, recently "updated" to include a  T-21 crystal (domed) which required a custom bezel, also by JMB. Top notch service and a great guy to work with.

A good 1016 is a hard one to come by, there are plenty of bad ones, and some so-so ones. JMB's are among the best, particularly for the price.

  8. Wouldn't a Tudor have a bracelet with the Tudor emblem on it- not the Rolex crown? Also, the end links don't appear to fit very well.

But the rest of the watch looks ok and with all of those bids, someone out there likes it

Early Tudor's had Rolex signed bracelets. Generally the end pieces didn't fit the best on the 34mm cased watches, but the sub bracelets fit just as well as on Rolex subs.

  9. So, back in my "gen" days, it was well discussed that the Tudor Ranger was a fantasy watch. That any that were for sale were ALL contrived, no matter what was said by whom. Anyway, without iron clad proof, I would suspect any Ranger, period. Similarly, I would suspect any 5500 Explorer as well. Just too many reps out there these days.

Let me clarify my statement, it was the RED Rangers that are the "fantasy watches" the ebay one may very well be genuine, as white Rangers were real. Only way to tell is to have it verified by Rolex.
