  1. I doubt @ 250 there's be a heck of a lot of "discount" margin to make the hastle of a group buy worth it--but a custom swiss version which would fix the date gap problem....that might be worth it and I'd certainly be up for it.
  2. Looks like your PR has no PR...seriously, you have two options---you'll have to find a smith who is willing to work on not only a chinese movement but a chinese movement that has been modified! Not an easy task. But firsy, I'd see if I can buy (not ask for free) a new movement from your dealer...if that fails, I'd start looking for a smith who's up to a challenge...first on of our RWG gurus, then local. In my experience--watches stopping entirely NEVER end up being something you can fix yourself.
  3. Stickers are hard. Very hard. Will they work? Perhaps we shall find out sooner than we think.
  4. If Admin says this is your huckleberry, this is your huckleberry. Also, I think I can tell by the serial that (I used to own one) this is the version that MBW was selling at one point--but it looks like the dial has been improved and the screws have been done in silver. If it is the same case...the case is the correct thickness. I bought an OEM blue dial for the jumbo on ebay a while back--does anyone know if, feet grinding aside, it will fit this rep?
  5. Clive means 183, but in any case even though he's dead-on w/ his descriptions of those watches, I'd never waste my money--or especially my girlfriend's money--on a gen version of a watch as accuratey repped as a 111, 63, or 183 If you by a n accurate rep of any of them, 99.999% of the people you meet during your lifetime will think it's real. Do you really want the ol' GF to shell out 5 grand so you can walk into an AD and show off your watch? I love PAMs with all my heart but I'd never buy a gen--even by luxury watch standards Panerai gets away with murder. But if I had to--I'd buy a version that is ulikely ever to be well repped--a model with titanium an anthracite dial, or one with a complication or design feature that is tough to replicate.
  6. This topic oe water resistance comes up a few tmes every summer, for obvious reasons. Truth be told, most reps probably are a little more water resistant than most dealers claim, but look at it from their perspective: They understand the quality control issues in rep factories and they know that even the new sub they're selling is designed to be water resistant, some pieces will be good to 50m and some will leak like a screen door on the Titanic--so unless they advertise, like eddie does, that it's only good for a 50 yard dash in the rain, people are going to take them scuba diving and then send them back if they leak. The dealers are just being smart--and more importantly-- erring toward honesty. Me? Unless the dealer's watchsmith or my watchsmith has tested my particular rep, it comes off whe I wash my hands. If some WIS looks at me askance down at the pool because I tke off my TW best LV before I jump in, well...he can kiss my rep colecting ass.
  7. Andrew, Will do. Now that I know you are reading this thread, I do want to take the opportunity to apologize for posting publicly about what happened before contacting you one more time first. Would you have provided a refund if I had done that? Whatever your answer is, I will take you at your word. For anyone still reading this thread:What you should take away from it it this: 1)as I stated earlier, the vast majority of andrews transactions go well. 2)What happened between me and andrew happened. 3)andrew will now refund my money. 4)this board is about community--andrew and I are now clear, as far as I'm concerned. My reccomendation: you should not hesitate to buy a watch from him. fisherman--as much as I enjoy knocking around the softballs your passive agressive, semi-literate, 15w-bulb of a brain seems intent on pitching in my direction, why don't you just give it a rest? Or not. I don't care one way or another.
  8. LOL! You're right, "took" was an inacurate term, and I'm sure Andrew appreciates both your pointing that out and for your bumping this thread. Lets begin with this: I confess I did use the world "steal" AND I used the word "take." I was mistakenly under the impression that they can be used interchangably. But once again, pardie, I have to thank you for pointing out that the word" take" is, in this instance, not nearly as accurate as the world "steal." I certainly appreciate the correction and I do stand corrected: As the verifiable PM and emails above show, andrew did not take $120 from me. He recieved $120 from me and then refused to send the watch I ordered or refund my money. Then he ignored any of my offers to come to a mutually beneficial compromise. Then he kept my $120 And please let me take the opportunity to thank you again for starting this thread. Without your doing so, I never would have bothered to post the PM and email echanges between andrew and I, which of course Andrew did not dispute and which speak for themselves. I can't help but believe that since andrew previously ignored all reqiests for a refund, while continuing to keep my $120, it was your wise decision to make the issue so visible that he offered me a refund. Thanks! And, believe me, of you will PM me your real name and paypal address I will immediately send you the 33% colections fee I promised to send you for your securing my refund, since you just refused to let andrew get away with ignoring my commets about his business dealings with me as he did before you started this thread. I just can't thank you enough for devoting your entire contribution to this forum to functioning as my personal collection agency! I'll double that payment if you can quote where I denied saying that andrew stole my money. The least I can do by way of thanks is apologize to andrew for implying that a dealer who recieves his customer's money, does not send a watch or refund, ignores repeated polite requests for a solution, and only offers a refund when the relevent PMs are posted is, in that instance, a thief. Fisherman, you are right again, I should not have impliedanything. I know you'll be interested, since you deeply interested in my financial well being, hat I have not yet recieved the refund Andrew publicly offered in this thread.
  9. Chugging right along--first buyers' watches are en route to them!
  10. looks like that person has been mining RWG in a very...ahem...unhealthy way. "Steals"eddied ID, rips off TTK's pics, and i notice, similar inentory to many of our dealers as opposed to the typical Ioffer inventory. IMO, a mod/admin investigation is in order.
  11. Yes...not trying to dis Tommy at all--because like any smart businessman he's giving the customers what they want. In this case, IMO, the customers weren't thinking too clearly. I would have preferred that he produced the 1.9mm crowns like the OEM...the 1.7 used on our reps are .2mm too small. the 2.1mm are .2mm too big. Sure, they're thick but they're both equally inaccurate. BTW, your jos 036 ought to measure out at 1.9mm--the only out of the box PAM rep crown that's identical to the gen.
  12. I had almost the same thing happen--sold a watch, and the buyer got an empty, tampered box. I immediately refunded via paypal +10% for the buyers trouble and dissapointment. Nothing else was said until one day about three months later a surprise box showed up at my house. Inside, was a nice Andrew miyota DateJust along w/ a note from the buyer--"One good turn deserves another." Admin, send the watch back. Good Karma will catch up with you. For the person that took your watch, Bad Karma will catch up w/ him. It all evens out in time.
  13. Nope, not until they rep the el primero or modify the 7750...
  14. I'd swear i saw a pic posted of a gen 2006 california dial w/ "Panerai" printed on the dial--did that not make it into production?
  15. Or at least it seems so--he says something about 21600, which I assume is the bph of an asian 7750... http://shopping.e-conveni.net/item_info.ht..._id=859535&
  16. Wow that's a great price if real--I'd be careful? Do they have any TT? I'll be able to tell you if the price is realistic on a TT model.
  17. BTW, If Jos just says 18k, it's 18k all the way through, I've been dealing w/ him for nearly two years and have read hundreds of his descriptions. He just wouldn't say 18k gold if it were 18k plated over 10k. The price seems about right too--probably about $300-$325 worth of gold in the watch + the price of the usual nice ETA rep. Not a bad deal. The bracelet will stretch slightly. My wife has a gen TT DJ w/ a jubilee--and while it has stretched, so has everyone other gen owner's so it's not an accuracy issue. Jos didn't mention anything about a solid 18k TOG coming along soon, did he?
  18. Pauls watch is 14k gold wrapped around 10k gold, hence the price difference.
  19. Nah, i mossed ubi's thread back in june. Thanks for the repost! That guy is amazing--maybe he can make me some muller hands so i can finish my damn projects!!
  20. Thanks, pardner...looks like I'll have to pick up that version too and create my own "less than perfect" ultra-budget frankensub to sell--EL dial and bracelt on the "perfect" sub case. Perfect for you anal-nonretentives out there at a price you can't resist.
  21. Ubi, would you say Andrew's bracelet is significantly better than EL's? I know the dial is, but I thought they used the same bracelet...
  22. OK guys...last call...more than 10 PM commitments and at least two other payments sent aside from me...Plenty of watches are available but i think we buyers will want our watches to ship as soon as 10 payments are made so the group price is limited in time. Please contact me ASAP if you want in. BTW Buckles are 18K and straps are genuine croc...
  23. Me too, but we'll be wanting for a long time. Big date + chrono w/ that spacing? Not going to happen.
  24. I've bee half-assedly working on a TT (or 18k) Frankentona for my pop for over a year--here's how the the sourcing has gone for me. Dial: That's ow the project sarted. The old man was doing his saturday flea market thing and ran accross an unopened NOS black & gold dial--I'd told him about reps, mods, etc, so he picked it up for...get this...$35. He brings it over and says "hey, can you use this?" So Mr. Big watchsmith man says, "Sure, Dad, I'll build you an exact replica of the watch that dial fits on...It's non me. Give me a a month or so." "Great," says he. So i set my budget @ $2000-$2250 and stated looking: Three months later: No OEM parts sourced dispite regular looking on ebay. Three or Datrons pass my max bid of $850. Month 4: OEM bezel, ~90% condition ought on ebay for $290, a good deal. Month 6: no deals on a datron. Pick up an OEM crown and tube for $80, probably not a good deal. Month 10: Aborted case deal. I got warned off the seller by another member just in time. The seller then listed the case he was going to sell me in the old offers section and all hell broke loose with people picking the case apart as damaged and incompetently reshaped and told many hair-raising stories of being scammed by said seller. Month 12: Picked up OEM hand-set and nice 18k aftermarket pushers for a total of $200. Month 14: Picked up an OEM strap for $60, a great deal. Raised my datron max bid to $925. Still getting outbid on every datron. I set my budget at 2k--if you can raise yours beyond that I bet you could get your project done a good bit faster than me--but that case ain't going to be easy. I've looked harder for it than any other part---I've seen 2, onle one of them worth buying and at $1450 (no bezel) busted my budget.
  25. Cool. I thought the PR fuction somehow prevented the date being set w/ the crown at all--shows you how much I know about the inside of watches. Thanls for the tip! I'll post pics when I swap and rebrush the cases.
