  1. Hi all,

So I'm very interested in getting my hands on a "vintage" Tudor 5514. I see that Trusty has one, with Asian 2836 movement. Has anyone handled one of these? How accurate are they? Are they well made? Is Trusty the best source to pick one of these up, or is there a better supplier?

In the long-run I'd like to have one custom-made (or do it myself), but I'd like to get my hands on one to see if I like it, before I invest significantly more cash in it.

Either way, just looking for a nice vintage Tudor Submariner. Any input would be appreciated!

    Thanks.

  2. Had the same issue with one of my TC subs. The rotor comes off. I tried reattaching mine several times but it is only press fit and kept coming off. I finally replaced the rotor assembly and haven't had a problem since. It's incredibly easy. Note, if it is the rotor, your watch will eventually stop unless you manually wind it. I happen to be in LA but am not a watchsmith.

Thanks, I will look into this.

  3. Hi everyone,

A few months back I bought a used Rolex Explorer I from chiman12. The transaction went great, and the watch that arrived was absolutely gorgeous, and in perfect working condition. My thanks to chiman12 for sending me such a great watch at such a great price.

Anyway, fast forward to last weekend. I was at a wedding, and must have bumped into something, because now the watch is making a funny noise, like a part has fallen loose, and is tumbling around inside (sounds like it is scraping against the caseback).

The good think is, the watch itself is still keeping time perfectly, and the automatic movement still runs beautifully... I think something just became dislodged and is tumbling around on the inside.

ANYWAY. Wondering if there is anyone (preferably a member) in LA/SFV that has even minor watch repair skills, just to open it up and see if they can re-attach whatever is klinking around. As I said, the movement still works perfectly, so I think this is simply a minor issue.

Anyway, any advice would be appreciated!

  4. Okay, so I am absolutely in love with vintage Rolex models... the GMT, Submariner, and MilSub in particular. I have been looking a lot through the forum, and have heard a lot of names come up - Yuki, MBK, etc. But my question is, from all the trusted vendors, which vintage model offered is A) the most accurate, and B) the best for modding/creating a franken?

  5. Hi everyone,

Been a longtime lurker, but have just started to post... starting my quest to find/buy/build an amazing vintage Rolex rep. Have already come across some invaluable advice here already, and looking forward to much more!

  6. The reason he's wearing the NATO strap is that in the scene before, he infiltrated the joint via SCUBA, and his Sub was worn on the outside of his wetsuit... wouldn't have boded well for a leather strap.
