  1. Hi,

Besides being taught by someone else, learning by doing is a good way to go. However it is sometimes also expensisve, depending on the skill of the teacher and the humbleness of the student ;) . I applaud your effort and encourage you to keep going. To help you on your way a little info:

The first picture you posted is the dial side of the movement. ALL ETA 6497 movements have holes for the dial legs. If you hold the dial over the movement with 3 o'clock lined up with the stem and slowly lower you should find the holes in the movement plate. The 6497 is indeed set up to attach a seperate second hand to the fourth wheel pivot which protrudes beyond the plate leaving two options. Replace with a shorter pivot on the fourth wheel or cut it off. Once this is resolved the dial lined up correctly should lower flush to the movement. Now if you wanted to set the dial up to be used destro you would have two options. Cut the legs off and either use double sided tape to attach to the movement (a method recommended to you earlier) or resolder in new position (Something way beyond your skill level at this time). Fortunately I don't believe your one of us blessed with the specialness of being lefthanded and so have one less thing to worry about. One last note on cutting the stem, measure multiple times, cut once. And after cutting file flat and check threads.

Yes it's a 6497, I only have this picture and the one I posted earlier. Even if the holes are there (and I just haven't spotted them yet) what do I do with the two studs sticking out the back of the dial? I don't have my camera with me so I can't post a picture of the back of the dial.
  2. Jakub,

Great work and thanks for all your effort. What is the availability of getting a Yellow Double AR coating as instead of Blue?

  3. Lello,

Thanks for all your effort on this project! But an important question has arisen from us portsiders, southpaws, sinestros who wear destros,

DOes anyone know or confirm that the Datewheel at 3:00 will work on the 239 Destro with datewheel at 9:00?

WILL you make ones for PAM 239, my fantasy Destro Arktos and any other 7750 powered Destro PAM?

7750 DWs are ready to ship, but the black ones for 3 o'clock, are running out already and I will need to order another run...

See details on first page of this thread, thanks,

  4. Wow! :thumbsupsmileyanim: Beautiful work Vaccum

and I am definitely envious of the owner, and totally understand the Sinestro mind that would be happy with this Destro beauty accurate or not, Gen, rep, franken mix and all! Like another poster stated a great example of the understated, utilitarian, udeniably awesome tool watch!

Personally I appreciate the work and the watch! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

the look is nice but this watch only with angelus

and the strap is not correct for this watch

  6. sash, can you post pics of both straps. Also I'm sure I speak for most if not all in asking if that is the best you can do? The watch with both straps at the price you quote would be $289.00 with 15 people minimum purchasing, maybe you could do just a little better?

if anyone is interested in the rubber strap.. either you can purchase it at $20 or exchange the leather for the rubber..
  7. I understand Sash is only offering 1 strap, the leather. Might I suggest Sash offer a 2 tier group buy: Chrono with leather strap, shipped EMS 269USD or with extra rubber strap inluded 285USD (lower price would be nice. Also in light of the picture TTK has posted in the new group buy list thread I think we still have a lot of questions and a final decision on dealer has been mad, IMHO.

@ttk my man... as you can see... i am trying my best to make everyone a good deal... but 2 x strap... man, its way out of my league.. this guys are good at striking a good deal!!
  8. My understanding is THIS THREAD is for a group buy from Sash for the Chrono model Ferrari for $269USD shipped EMS. From reading the threads it would be a leather strap as Sash stated the cost of adding the rubber strap with deployment would be too much. There was approximately 7 interested buyers on the old thread, which got confused with going off in too many tangents. Might I suggest we leave this thread to those who would add their name to the group buy! And use the older thread for questions! I am posting in the other thread with a question for Sash on straps. Hoping to add my name to this list soon.

I think that we need confirmation on which strap will be coming with it, and I personally would like to know what the difference between this one and the GMT ttk is selling.

Seeing as he wants to make such a big deal of it

  9. You know unlike some of the naysayers who thought this thread would die out and then things would revert back to "normal" I was already seeing changes! Smaller dealers are jumping into a opening they saw, hopefully offering better service and prices, which along with this thread and Admin's decision will put pressure on the others to respond in kind (better service, prices, honest descriptions) in order to not lose business or even grow! All in all one of those growing pains both sides needed to go through to hopefully move forward to even bigger and better REPS!!!!!!!!!

As a Mod I should not really comment to this discussion whilst it is happening on our board I will however say one thing, all the boards were formed and exsisted quite happily without dealer websites for a long time it would be very easy to revert to what we had.

Ok I see T has posted his statement so it is ok for my above comment now........................phew that was close

  10. Guys the markers fall off even on the Gen, see pic of Mike Horn's orginal below (Arktos not North Pole). You just don't want them falling off easily! Me I'm thinking of getting one knocking off a marker and skuffing it up to make it look more like Mikes. I like Mike!

actually I want a Fantasy Destro Arktos or North Pole, but still working on that

    Nice Angus,

As Slay said, Can you find out how the bezel markers are installed? The problem of them falling off is very common...one of the main issues keeping me from buying one of these...

  11. ROTFLMAO

I don't know what is funnier that modded ex-girlfriend, or those falling for it. By the way the gen face is very nice if you search the orginal threads. And for you freaks out there, there was some slippage and some Ni**age got shown! :bounce:

  12. Hmmm, I'm going to pry of some markers and scrape that baby up on the concrete sidewalk outside to make mine look more authentic! ............... JK :whistling::lol:

actually I'm still working on trying to produce my Fantasy Destro Arktos, but I'm not getting a lot of support.

  13. Actually gen Destro's don't have them upside down ............ sometimes!

    217 gen movement

    222154-14187.jpg

    bottom right is gen movement

    222154-14188.jpg

Since some gen Destros do use a Destro movement or anyways the OFFICINE PANERAI type is reversed I am looking for a rep movement that would accurately copy that. Otherwise it is common when converting/reworking a right hander watch to just turn the movement 180 degrees. So any 2 handed watch should be able to be converted! Great news for Lefties! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

That's right, gen lefties have them upside down too.
  14. I've always wanted a 1950's decade Rolex for sentimental reason, but have not really collected Rolex watches, reps or gen. Amongst other reasons I guess I'm a Panerai nut, but this one fits the bill. I think it's the biggest Rolex made it certainlly is my fav! :thumbsupsmileyanim: Of course the fact it's a Panny, or is it a Rollie, a Pam made by Rolex, hmmmmm ..... like I said the BIGGEST and BADDEST Rolex .....errrr PPanerai there is!

Agree or Not? no to work on turning it into a Destro.........where are my Bergeon screwdrivers

i'm working on a custom rolex movement vintage pam for a member here and i'm trying to find a tall cannon and hour wheel for it. the only numbers on the movement are 761733. does anyone know what movement this is? jules borol lists a ton of parts but i can't seem to find this movement listed.. this is the only holdup i have with finishing this watch. i don't want a recessed cannon pin!
  16. Dude (skcheng) don't conform! Being lefthanded is just a great reason to be a Panerai freak. There's 11 gen destros you can find reps for, there are lots of 2 handed models that can be reworked to Destro. If you've collected all those at that point you'll be hard core and if your like me trying to figure out how to get Fantasy models. I'm working on a fantasy Destro Arktos. Anyways there are also other lefty reps. The Graham is a great lefty watch, and some dealers will be coming out with a Swordfish model soon. Good luck

And V I always love your watches, straps, pics, etc. Very Nice, what are you going to attempt next?

I love the look of the destro, especially since I'm left handed and I've been forced somewhat to wearing a watch on my left hand anyway. Nice combo. The stitching on the strap looks really clean!!
  17. Simply Stunning! :1a:

So if this watch is based on a vintage Panerai and a modern Richemont Panerai is based on the same vintage Panerai are they "Replica Panerai?" In fact the very name used by D. Zei LOL

Once again just beautiful, hats off to Enzo also!
