So I am in communication with laser design to see if they could scan a gen case and provide chris with some type of CAD file.
I sent over some pics of the case and LD is going to get back to me with a quote. We still to find a way to get a case. Do 5513s use the same case as 1665s?
Nope the 1665 has he valve in the case. I believe 1680 and 5513 are same. So what case are we talking about doing here??
-
Different watches in the pictures. Are you talking about the height of the xtal? Easy fix if so
-
Maybe we can all pitch in some $ for the person who gets/lets us use the gen case? I'm in!

Wow.. Looks great

Excellent. I totally get that. Really like the BLRO.
I was very close to getting a 116618 LB because it took so long to find the gilt. I dig a few of the 6 digit models. Love to look at them and marvel at the technical advances--especially on the sky dweller and YM II, but the 4 and 5 digits just wear so much better on me. Not to mention the 4 digits will keep appreciating
+100,000,000!!
That's why I couldn't do it! Those 6 dig cases are just to bulky for me :(
The 14060m gets so much wrist time it's not even funny. Sometimes you forget it's there because it wears so nicely.
Haven't ventured into the gen 4 digit world yet. Need to! Hmmmm... I always wanted something with PCG!

And yes, the new clasps are a work of art. Glide lock can come in handy a lot during the warm summer months! But again.. They are bulky compared to the tried and true flip lock.

Sweet! When did you get the Sky Dweller? What an awesome watch.
I got it about a year ago. stole it from a lady! Well not really... But was her ex husbands and I got a great deal.. Don't wear it much. Will be trading it in on something I really want soon!! Almost swapped it on a WG gmt blro earlier this year from DSW but couldn't pull the trigger!

Anyone come across a gen D-blue dial for sale anywhere yet? This one seems to be quite elusive.

Was one on TRF last year. 5k.. Crazy

Wow. Looks so nice

Turbo, I'd love to see a build thread on that.
Have one on RWI. When I get some time I can post on here!

With the help from the guys here and on other forums I turned my BPSD into a franken 16660.
Gen Dial
Gen Insert
Gen Crown
TC Hands
ETA 2836
JMB drilled lug holes
Gen 93160 bracelet and clasp
I don't remember how much it all totaled up but it was less than $1000USD excluding the watch itself.
Nice.. Any pics? Here is some pics of my current Franken in progress.
BP case drilled spring bars
Gen xtal
Gen bezel assembly
Gen insert
Gen crown
Gen dial
Gen hands
Gen date wheel
Gen 93160
Yuki movement
Almost complete!

Wow! I tried googling the part number hoping for a sales post somewhere... Only found a website with some import data where it is listed for $180,92!!! So supply and demand is really a factor here...
https://www.seair.co.in/rolex-116610-import-data.aspx
Thanks for your reply
If I could find them for 180$ I would buy 20 of them lol. Real market price for ceramic bezel without the full assembly is around 700$. About 1,000$ with the full bezel assembly.
Ceramic prices are outrageous!!

Looks good did gen fit MBW with no sanding?
-
How do the CG look? Wonder if it is gen construction. If you ever pop the bezel and xtal off post some pics.
-
Well done! I'm also a bit torn wether to use the Clark t19 superdome I have or to go "all the way" with the Classicwatchparts T19. 50 USD for a bit of acrylic plastic is still 50 USD for plastic. Hmm..
You think the CWP one is better?

...or did anyone else notice the MBK 5512 and 5513 currently pictured for sale have sea dweller bezels? The 5512 I got from Reppin last week has the thicker bezel...3.0mm vs 2.15mm for regular MBK 5512/13/1680 and 2.10mm for Clark/ST. This is for the bezel only, no insert.
No foul on this because SD type bezels are very hard to find compared to regular 5512/13/1680.
I haven't noticed. I'll take a look
The one I received has correct bezel. In the original thread from last month he had pics with both bezels shown. I knew something was off Bc of difference In xtal height. Didn't even notice the bezel.

What exactly are you trying to disassemble? the whole watch??!!
-
Looks good. What bracelet and spring bars did you use?

I've done a fairly thorough check and I can't find any examples of a metres first dial with Submariner on top of the depth rating. It certainly exists for a feet first dial.
The link to the site below gives a really comprehensive history of 5513 dials and the metres first, with Submariner above, isn't shown or mentioned...
Also, in the thread link below to the Rolex Forum, it mentions metres first, Submariner above but ONLY in a glossy dial with white gold around the markers, which isn't what the MBW version is.
Would be happy to be proved wrong!

You are correct my friend. I thought you were talking about just the submariner above.
But it seems the ones we are receiving are correct? Submariner below and meters first?
-
I'm waiting for my 5512 to arrive.
It's interesting to note that the dial shown on the 5513 from the OP (above) is different to the one that was shown in Rolexfinder's original sales post.
In the sales post it was a metres first dial with Submariner above the depth rating. I'm not sure that ever existed on a 5513. On the watch that is shown above, Submariner is below the depth rating.
Nice eye.. Yup they both existed in the gen world. Not sure the details about it but I do know that there were both versions in gen.
-
Yup that's what I meant. The center part of gen spring bar is 2mm right?
I agree, the CG are chunky. I will prob have them slimmed down a bit. but I want to keep the camfer on the lugs. Love it.

What is gen dial size? 26.5? In the photos the watches look amazing. Are these the real deal mbw? I had an old polex SD GW and these look very close!
Think I'm just gonna order a 5513 and see how it turns out. Have a gen 93150 with end links on hand to throw on it. Maybe just do some basic case/CG work and leave it as is. Has anyone received one of these yet? Maybe from his last batch.
A LOT of Rolex 93250 PJ4 clasps

Sadly this is the down side of our hobby. And the sad thing is that the clasps are so good no gen owner is going to even think it isn't gen.
