  1. Classic scam description:

"This was bought off of a friend who was in debt and will not come with original documents or packaging.

Has been used, and to my knowledge is a 2008 model.
Price is relatively cheap and it is priced to sell asap.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me
    Happy shopping!!"

    and blurry photos.
  2. Listing was pulled form ebay yesterday 7/22.  Reason: "There was an error in the description".  I reported this twice before it was finally pulled. Auction was approaching $200.00. There's simply too many replicas represented as genuine and that's the risk you take.

  3. Potential buyers getting suspicious until the seller admits it is NOT an authentic Rolex.  Classic replica engraving on back cover.

Q: What does that mean? (Description)
A: Designed after Rolex. NOT and AUTHENTIC ROLEX. To my understanding. These were estate watches purchased at an estate sale. The website list these watches to be a little over $300.00 new.

On the back of the watch is WINNER ROLEX AD DAYTONA 24

  5. People are starting to ask questions see below.

    Question & Answer Answered On

Q: So you are saying except the movement everything is original? Jul-17-13

A: I'm not sure just going on what watch maker told me about the movement, that it wasn't a Rolex movement. The crystal has the crown etched in the lower edge and the halogram looks correct. I'm only going on what I had found on the internet. I don't much about watch as I bought a big box of watches and pocket watches and it was in the bottom of box. The box and paper work are Rolex and are for a Daytona Cosmograph, the watch I don't know real or not. That is why I started the bid at what the box and paper work had been selling for. Thanks for asking

  6. They are not reading the description and just doing a lowest price bid shopping.  I've reported this to eBay but apparently they feel this is within their policies I suppose because of his hard to see disclaimer. Anyone who thinks they can get a genuine Daytona for under $1,000.00 should not expect to receive a genuine article.  Sorry correction to my previous post, my date status should have been as of 7/18, not 7/28.

  7. ebay Listing #: 200942828487

    Titled: Rolex Daytona 16520

    Seller: 67conv

Description: Rolex Daytona with box and papers that are shown in ad. I bought a box of wathes and old pocket watches and this was in the bottom, I took watch to watch repairman and they said it didn't have a Rolex movement in it. It works well and looks like the other 16520 I looked at. It does have the crown in the crystal I wasn't able to get a picture of it with my camera. If you have any question please ask. Starting auction low price it what I see the box and paper work sells for, with no reserve.

Two unsuspecting bidders and current bid is $520.00.

In my opinion, the seller is trying to minimize the fact that this is not a genuine Rolex. If his title said (Rolex Daytona: with non Rolex Movement) it may be more clear.  I don't know if this subtle description meets ebay's policies of selling counterfeit goods.
