  1. I can't wait to see what masterpiece of a dial you will be making for it. Looks like this case set with the gen crown/tube deserves the best, and together with a gen movement, and you basically have something (to me) the next best thing to gen but I would never call it a replica, more like gen with custom touches he he.

  2. Here seems to be an assortment of crowns/tubes and sizes to fit many breitling models:

    http://www.ebay.com/sch/sis.html?_nkw=Breitling+Factory+Crown+Super+Ocean+S+S+7+0+mm+with+tube&_itemId=231776962741&_trksid=p2047675.m4099

If it were me, and Josh already had my watch (that I bought new for >250, I'd probably bite the bullet and do it but ask for the old case/parts back. For me, getting it sent back to China would have been the biggest hassle.

  3. I don't post much as I try to keep my ears (eyes) open mostly and read the info on all the boards voraciously. I would love to have Spin participating more. From everything I've read, his work is legendary and his pieces are rare and highly sought after. Seems he enjoys and specializes on some mods that others don't or won't. Seems like he also had been a victim when DW passed his problems down the line. It's almost impossible to absorb a loss when you do something for the love of it and a supplier takes money but can't deliver anymore, and when done for enjoyment, one does not impose a markup to absorb these things.

I can relate as I did the same thing in the early days of computers and high end audio (mid '80s early 90s) when I had the time and knowledge to help friends and acquaintances out before availability exploded. Fortunately for me, all my suppliers were reliable and legit.

  4. I think most of them buy from ADs, trusted sellers, or M2M and most all the watches they buy come with provenance or are vouched for to be real. Warning them only draws attention to yourself and why you know so much about fake watches.

The guys that really need help are the poor ebayers that think everything on the bay is gen. I've heard a few horror stories from there.

  5. Niiice. One of the guys on here let me know when a really reasonably priced ($100) T17 went up on eBay and I snapped it up for my build. Currently at the watchmaker's, can't wait to see how it looks when it's all assembled.

I saw one for $150, waited, then bought one but for $125. Turns out he had more to sell and after 2 or 3 more sold, he sold what I think was the last one for $100 (wth? should've waited longer lol)

  6. Guys if you didn't know this already, please, please instruct your card issuers (both debit and credit) to send either text messages or emails anytime a transaction over any amount of your choosing occurs. You can easily configure this online as an "alert" or *maybe* by a phone call. I actually prefer this instantaneous security precaution to the new chipped cards that sometimes take longer to process when run through chip compatible machines.

Doing this has given me peace of mind and I'm not worried if I ever lose the cards (well sorta lol).

  7. I would get it serviced by a good modder that *knows* the quirks of modified A7750s? (there are a few on the rep boards) An OTB A7750  benefits from a proper service anyway and should make it last longer than new but YMMV. If you have more to spend, it's an opportunity to use it as a base for a build and make it something special.

I can see that the Tiffany print starts from a different spot from more trustworthy examples but can't tell which E is long/wrong, the Rolex print at 12? The dial also seems to be a little right & bottom justified, making the minute markers specially between 5 min to 40 min shorter.

  9. Hey all..

Does anyone know if they made a white dial of this in gen? I did a lot of searching and it *seems* like all the gens came in a black dial and the reps make a white dial version like on TrustyTime's site:

Oops was gonna post the link but system won't let me yet.

TT calls this watch: TAG0011SWB - Indy 500 Racing White - OS20 Working Chronograph

    the gen's model number : CAC111B.BA0850

Does not come up on TAG's site...

Sellers on the bay's case sizing is all over the place: 41-45mm, Amazon lists it at 45mm and TT lists it as 40mm.  Can someone pls un-confuse me:-) ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jay
