  1. so it wasn't built? it's still a franken if it want built by panerai... I can't imagine you sourcing a Gen case set though
  2. no offense to Tanya or Rex but that's definitely not a WO crystal...
  3. you can buy one if you want but they will not fit in an auto rep cases period. They are Gen replacement crystals... Gen auto crystals are roughly the same thickness as manual crystals... 3.5mm thick... rep auto crystals are about 1mm thinner... if a WO auto crystal would fit in a rep case then you'd have seen dozens of builds featuring a Gen auto crystal as well as dozens of WO crystals... but there has been to this day, zero auto builds with either crystal. Gen manual crystals will fit a lot of rep cases because the rep crystals for manual reps are roughly 3.5mm thick. I currently own all the crystals I've mentioned and have posted all this information before... just a warning for anyone who is contemplating wasting $145...
  4. Tanya's was a v2 ultimate crystal not the ebay crystal... Gen auto pams with cyclops take 3.5mm thick crystals and reps take closer to 2.5mm... there's no exceptions.
  5. That case is looking great! Tell me that's not DSN's new case...
  6. 1. Getting the Gen CG: $300 2. Taking accurate measurements and making proper complex 5 axis solid model: 15 hours 3. Finding a precision shop with micro 5 axis CNC capability: 6 weeks 4. Finding the minerals you'd need downstairs to challenge the lawsuit happy Richemont: Priceless! As stated before many have started down this path and many have given up... I'd buy several but the panerai CG is well known by most prototypers and precision machine labs because of all the dumb a**es that have spammed them to death over the last 3 years about fabricating this very CG...
  7. excellent tear down!! just what I was waiting for... as for the reason they didn't do a 1:1 copy I'm sure has to do with $... they probably recycled as much as possible from the standard A7750... the biggest dissapointmwnt for me is that a Gen dial will not be possible because of the odd DW... I would wager that the DW is like that for future compatibility with other brands... Pam chronos wouldn't be able to flip the bill alone for a new movement being developed. I very highly doubt there will be future versions of this movement given the volume of sales it's already generated... it did what they wanted it to do which is fill the sunken date window and that's it...
  8. Gotta say no go on the tattoo... it's one thing to admire the history of a watch but to tattoo any signature associated with that type of destructive history is wrong IMO...
  9. only their manual crystal will fit a rep case... their auto will not. Either way they use a very strong heavy blue AR.
  10. keep in mind they're not accurate blue prints rather stylistic blue prints...
  11. not that long ago a non alarm angelus 240 sold for over $7k on eBay...
  12. matte spray... if you're sending it to The Zigmeister have him do it...
  13. well Gen has recessed cyclops so doesn't stick out at all... so if it works a manual case with manual crystal it would work with the auto crystal but the hand stack is still higher than manual wind...
  14. no way, milling slots in the case is much more difficult... harder to measure, harder to set up and riskier... movement rings aren't very hard to make. most likely an available movement ring wouldn't even fit on one of the dimensions... oh and I would never allow plastic in a watch
  15. I think it'd be easier to make a custom movement holder...
  16. I don't do many manual watch builds and I don't have my cases handy so I thought I'd ask... anyone know if it's possible to put an A7750 movement into a manual rep case?
  17. You mean like these CGs?? DSN CGs are all wrong but there have been CGs that are proper A-F... and there's actually a couple different thickness variations to the Gens...
  18. and yet too many screws... everyone bought it anyway...
  19. To get a good GMT A7750 movement I've ordered a bunch of movements and kept the ones that charge up the fastest... the GMT A7750 is known to be a weak movement typically... there's not enough demand for a new GMT movement...
  20. Is that the low level quartz rep? There's a higher quality mechanical version with a much better dial...
