Just got it, second hand, from a member on here and already I have problems. I just looked down at it, on my wrist, and it had stopped! I shook it a bit, and nothing. So I unscrewed the crown to manually wind it, still nada. But in the process of screwing it back in....bam, it STRIPPED! Being [censored]/disappointed, I rapped it firmly on my palm to get it ticking...and it did. I can screw the crown one turn to keep it in barely, but its F***ed. What are my options? Can I upgrade to gen parts? Thanks! Dylan

Ive vintagized 3 diff subs. One method was to take an empty plastic peanut butter jar (cleaned or not...lol), fill 1/3 to 1/2 way with pennies, throw in the watch, and shake away. Checking every 30 sec. On my 3rd vintagizing project I was lucky enough to have an unrestored 5512 to "copy" off of. I used a few methods, but a good start is the penny method. If you get unhappy with any markings on the acrylic crystal, take 1500 grit wet/dry sandpaper and wet sand them out. Then with firm pressure, rub toothpaste back and forth(on a wash cloth) and watch it turn clear. D

Hmmm, I always just used olive oil. Not really to coat it, but to fill the little clangy gaps in between the metal. Gives them a MUCH better feel/sound. I would imagine that those concerned with using potentially harsh chems, and having them seep into their skin, could use a bees wax type wax. D
