  1. Thanks! Ordered from BOB. Great selection and easy to deal with.

There are literallly hundereds of possibilities. You need to look for straps with larger holes or oval holes to accomodate a tang buckle. Your buckle is 22mm so you should be looking for 24/22 straps.

Here are links to some great strap manufacturers:

I'm a huge fan on the first two sellers.

  2. I'm a Virginia Tech alumni and I must admit It's been a sad year for us. Mike was known as a good guy while in school, but the money and fame went to his head. His little brother had already been ruined by Mike's money by the time he went to VT.

Finding you guys has been a bright spot in an otherwise sad year.

    Ok, I did.

Sure, the court of public opinion is not Federal Court, but come on!

  3. I recently bought a 2001 Daytona 7750 with a rep black gator deployment strap from a respected member. I love the watch, but the strap adjusted to the longest length is just a wee bit tight on the wrist. Any suggestion on a replacement strap or a Daytona bracelet? I've done a search and looked on the bay.

  5. Thanks for all the input. The more I think about it, my wife would not be into the automatic thing and would grab the watch where the time was correct, so I think I will stick with quartz. The J12's are nice, but I don't think she would go for the black or white.

I stopped at an AD this afternoon which carries Omega and Tag I really didn't care for the constellation but did like TAG Aquaracer with the diamond bezel. It looks a lot better in person than on thier website. I was goining to post a link to one on Andrew's site, but due to recent events I didn't know if that was cool to do.

As an aside could someone tell me how to post a link that displays an underlined word that is in fact a link. I'm a mac user if that matters.

  6. After a great deal of research and some help from some of the SUB gurus I'm going to order a Noob ETA Sub from Andrew for myself and am looking for something for my wife. I was thinking of a Datejust, but not sure she wouldn't prefer quartz and not have to deal with setting the watch. She has a Gen TAG quartz. Looking for something sporty as I got a dressy Cartier for her on my last order. Also if I did go with the Datejust how does the gold hold up on the TT and what is wrapped gold?

  7. Ordered an Omega black strap with orange stitching 2 1/2 weeks ago and I haven't seen it yet. Emailed him on order status about a week ago. No answer.

Just wondering if anyone had been experiencing any recent communication problems with Silix. It took me 2 1/2 weeks to place my order with him, and now, 3 1/2 weeks after that, I still haven't received confirmation that my order has shipped. Tried emailing him multiple times. I've gotten sporadic correspondence from him, but never an order confirmation. I'm concerned, as these watches were intended to be birthday presents.

BTW, I previously ordered from him in December, and didn't experience any problems at all. Just wondering if this is something new or something that others are experiencing.

  8. I'm a Noob, but have purchased four watches in the last few weeks, Three from Josh (PP5070, PO45, Cartier for my wife) and a modded PAM from flav. I want a Speedmaster Moonwatch with the manual movement and have read all the reviews. Josh has two that look almost identical.

    http://watchwindersworld.com/omsp10004-bro...nos-p-1961.html

I emailed him and asked the difference and got the following reply "The dial and the slight variation in the needles.." I can see the second hand the 03 model is more accurate based the reviews and the 3,6,9 markers are better on the 04 model.

Are either of these a good choice? If not any suggestions?

  9. I am the new owner of the modded 11H. Great watch from a great guy :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I'm have a few GENS, but am new to REPS (only 4, but all in the last few weeks) and look forward to taking advantage of some of flav's creations in the future.

Wow, 2 Fantastic Watches... Congras to you Flav and the new Owner of your modded 11H!
  10. The recent diver 200 posts got me interested in a monster. While watching a few on ebay waiting for a good deal I noticed the 200 Oxygen Countdwon model which looks interested. Any of the Seiko collectors have any input or should I stick with the monster?

  11. Received uPO45 from Josh two days ago described in his website as 2824-2. Ratchets in both directions, winds in one direction.

Because of things kicking off elsewhere in this and other fora, and the distinct possibility of certain watches being passed off as having one type of movement when what they have bears no relation to the description whatsoever, I am sure that there are owners of ultimate Planet Oceans who ordered and paid for it to have an ETA2824 movement who may now be thinking that they wouldn't know if the watch actually had the Asian movement described by certain dealers as 2824-2 (which bears little resemblance to the real 2824 and is actually much closer in design to typical cheap Asian movements we are used to in reps, which I will explain shortly).

Well, here is how to tell without having to remove the caseback. Unscrew the crown and hand-wind the watch a little. If your movement is ETA then the winder will ratchet in both directions as you would expect. If your movement is the Asian the winder will ratchet in one direction only and spin freely the other.

I discovered this yesterday when I was asked to check over a uPO 'lite' an acquaintance had bought from one of our cartel dealers (despite my misgivings....). Externally the watch is identical in almost every detail to my ETA uPO, the only visual difference being the date font, but without something to compare it to most buyers will not be able to rely conclusively on that as a tell.

Notwithstanding the fact that this person paid only $17 less for his watch than I paid a non-cartel dealer for mine, this little discovery about the operation of this movement makes me call into question its description as a 2824-2.

Now, I haven't heard of anyone being mis-sold an Asian uPO as an ETA and no-one has yet reported such a thing in the forum, so I present this information purely so that owners can put their mind at rest. However, I think it opens up another issue about movement representation in general by the cartel dealers who we already know will mis-name a product to make it more appealing.

It does not function the same way as a 2824 except insofar as it has the same beat, but to suggest that this justifies the description is a bit like suggesting that because an articulated lorry has the same horsepower as a Ferrari then they are the same. This movement looks and feels like a faster beat version of the DG2813 I just bought to replace the dead movement in PAW - it even carries the same markings (WO under the balance wheel).

Take a look. Here is a stock photo of the DG2813 from the people I bought it from...

    225470-13413.jpg

    and the uPO lite movement....

    225470-13414.jpg

Ignore the shape of the rotor (which has been clearly cut to mimic the shape of the ETA rotor) and look at all the other details.

This Asian movement described as 2824 looks nothing like the 'Asian 2824' The Zigmeister did a breakdown of (which IMO deserves to carry the number 2824). This movement is a Miyota copy ie. a copy of a Japanese Citizen movement, but that doesn't sound nearly as nice as the completely false 'Asia copy ETA' description now, does it?!!

Don't get me wrong - it's a half way decent movement, but it ain't what they are saying it is. Not even close....

  12. Got it done today. Watch repair shop at the mall. $10. The first place I went, a mall kiosk couldn't do it. too hard. They both looked the watch over very close, but didn't ask the obvious question.

I'm glad i took it to the local watchsmith.......with all the tools they got, they were surprises how tough these bracelet is.

please listen to the experience member.....either get the right tools or the right person to do it.

  13. I received my ultimate PO from Joshua today and as it is my first rep I'm very impressed. It looks as good as the gen Explorer II I'm wearing and feels more realistic. I've looked at it through a magnifying glass and I can make myself think the Omega logo might be misaligned, or some of the hour markers, or the numerals, but I think it is mostly optical illusions. To me it's a great watch for what it costs.

Can anyone help me with resizing the bracelet? I've done a search, but have only found that it is difficult.

  14. Yeah, good choice ! (I mean the Patek)

Look at my signature, I did a small review on the thing :thumbsupsmileyanim:

The Seagull "clone" inside is indeed not a Lemania (impossible for the price), and seems to be recognized as reliable in most threads I read about it. So, no worry, be happy !

And as most member would say when they find a watch to be nice : wear it well...

I read your and The Zigmeister's reviews before purchasing. I new what I was getting and found that most of the issues with the movement involved Daytona's or other chronos with dials at six. I know I'm new to this, but I have spent many hours on this forum since joining and my sense is that maybe we sometimes expect too much for what we are paying for these reps.

  15. I just received my first reps. I ordered a PO 45, PP 5070 and a quartz Cartier for my wife form Joshusa. All showed up at my office in an EMS envelope wrapped in bubble wrap. Surprisingly small package for what was inside. All the watches look great and run fine. I was a little concerned in the beginning when I received tracking info, but nothing showed up on the EMS site for 5 days. Josh said not to worry the forwarders were only waiting for the right opportunity to ship. Once it shipped it only took five days to reach the east coast of the US. So as all the veterans have said, be patient your shipment will reach you quickly one it gets in the system.

Is there a 12 step program to kick this habit?
